It takes longer but picking up the ashes after you burn a load.
Yes it will take forever but you get 9 gp each for each ash. 150k of willows-3m or so and you get about 900k back.
I gave up after picking up 120 ashes but if you have the patience to do it :P you can get about 990k(money) back from 150k of willows.

well this would be incredibly hard because ashes don't appear right away, and logs disappear in random spots so you'd have to run back and forth alot. It's not just time consuming, it's incredibly not worth it. You might as well pick flax, let alone have someone buy all those ashes.

Yeah….That pretty much summed it up. Although it is a possible way to make some money back, you would have to have ALOT of patience…

Yeah, I saw this, I made a script on RSBot once to pick up ashes, when someone was firemaking to level 99 (or was attempting to) in 1 day. He failed, and I got like 700k ashes, then sold them. :)

i tried i gave up takes too long easier to just burn and continue on lol good idea if you have alot of time on yours hands

I wouldnt recommend doing this..in my oppinion this is a waste of time and the time ur wasting collecting ur ashes could be spent doing something else to make money.

all fires go bye bye at random times..and ashes dont stay for long

If you burn Maples you don't lose much money, i think they're 50ea atm.

just buy willow logs from the general store and burn those, 12gp ea :)

Hehe, but the best thing you could do is cut your logs THEN light them.

You won't make anything.. but you won't lose anything either.

Yes, I strongly recommend doing this; because you can sell them or if you're a member you can use the ashes to make a potion that gives alot of EXP (I forgot what the potion is called)

nice. When i do firemaking ill do that.. but a little diffrent

i would do two loads of logs. Then i would just pick them all up

I'm sorry but in my opinion its not a good idea if you firemake for exp (what else would you do with firemaking that gives ashes ?), if you're smart, you've earned enough of money and not spent all your money on logs so that you gotta take ashes. Seriously : NOT WORTH IT.

I hope you realize ppl train firemaking so they can have a better highscore or total lvl. Ashes is simply another way of getting a bit of your money back. It's a good suggestion, but I wouldn't even bother with the ashes.

its a great idea cus willows now cost 18gp, so you will save 50%of what ever you spent, it may be pretty pointless but every little helps

Nice idea but generally if you've got the money to buy 150k of willows or whatever you wont care enough to pickup the ashes to make a mill back, haha.

maybe a friendly scripter will make a autofiremaker with auto ash picker and banker, justthrowing the idea.

I bet you would spend the same ammount of time picking up the ashes.

This wouldn't really be ethical, you'd be better off using your time to make money the normal way. Just like junk, I don't understand why people use it,it doesn't make them any profit.

tryed before i got up to 43k ashes and i quit but kept them all just to rub in my friends faces :P.

If you are random infested, you make money back from random events lol.. you lose 50% of the money.

You MAKE money if you fletch willows, from random event.
if you don't want to lose money with out using random event. you have to sell it every 1k

The time spent collecting ashes could easily be spent collecting something that makes more than 9 gp each. I dont really like this suggestion.. I'd rather go out there picking flax, or banana's even.

i dont really think this is a good idea cuz you have to wait the fire to burn into ashes and it just makes the whole firemaking process much slower…… correct me if i m wrong
(ps ashes burn out at a random time, so its not like you pick one and the next one goes out)

I must say, that would be crazy. I couldn't ever picture ANYONE collecting ashes while Firemaking. You'd have to be insane. Literally.

Well there is a market for ashes, thanks to summoning, but I'm not sure it would be worth it. You should put in fire gloves forge revants thoes experience boosting items/things

yeah you could easily make that money back by doing something else instead of waiting and picking up the ashes, plus you would get your firemaking levels faster by not picking up the ashes

Instead of wasting that time, you could make double or more the money with feathers/cowhides/soft clay/etc.
