I do IST (internet and software technology) and im in yr 9 in australia. me and my friend were playing around on the cmd prompt when a teacher decided we would be guinea pigs to show his new program whcih he can control anyones computer in the school. they ahve a brand new massive flatscreen tv where every computer that is logged on is on the screen in a small section of it so he monitors EVERY computer. in one lesson of history 6 people got banned from the computers for a day and then when we tried to go on the internet in IST the folowing day it turns out he has disabled the internet on EVERY STUDENTS ACCOUNT!!! me and my class laughed so much as well as our teacher cuz this guy who controls the computer faculty has just gone tottally overboard. he even banned me for a week from the computers because i had 20 mbs of stuff in my documents which is too much for a student. so L O L.

anyone else got some ridiculouse funny stories about school or whatever?

Wow i guess he's one of those guys who doesnt like google lol… My parents installed bsafe once, that was hell on earth that program is the devil incarnate but i found away around it cuz im smart ;)

(it was something from StarWars!!!)

he got on, opened the system up (so we could go on any site)
changed the admins password
out everyones computer balance up to $1000 printing money
and changed the startup and background of every computer in my school :)

the computers were down for 2 months

….they found him afterwards
expulsion
and apparently was charged:D

Ok so for our filtering we have SonicWall. The most retarded thing you have ever seen. Anyway he has the restrictions so tight on it that its impossible todo any h/w. Me and my friend did a little experiment. We googled "The renaissances" and only 5% of the sites in the 10 pages were accessible, the other 95% were blocked. Also he is stupid. First off for SonicWall the homepage for the browsers is set to the login for that… so for students the Username = Student and password = Student…
For staff is was Username = HRA password = HRAStaff
HRA is abbreviation of my school name…
Not to mention it is less restrictive if you use the internet without logging on :p

But my friend and I just rune FF off our flash drives with a SOCKS5 proxy enabled so its all good now :p

Oh and for my Infotech class.. I installed "LogMeIn" on our dummy server we made so i could work on my homework from home… He freaked out and was like "AHHH H4x0rz!" But my infotech teacher explained to him that he checked it out and it was safe… that was a 45min conversation lol

In my school we have WebSense at our school and theres a log in thing, MHSstaff and MHSstudent are the usernames (except for admin). A friend of mine got told the password so they could work on this project. The friend told me and now I know the password.

The password is really dumb, for MHSstaff its onlyfor2008. I need to find out what the wifi password is now. (its not onlyfor2008 :()

The computer guys say they monitor everything, but they don't.


Seems kinda dumb that they'd just kill the internet for the students at your school.

Meh… I usually just boot up Ubuntu off a live CD

I'm using Yourfreedom and SocksCap to bypass my school internet restrictions.

MSN, WoW, Runescape…all blocked. :(

Lmao, my school uses WEBsense to ATTEMPT to block internet explorer, and it does, but we're supposed to use Mozilla for everything. My teacher was like. If it's for IEX, it will work for Mozilla. It didn't. My friend sitting next to me opened a porn site in the middle of class and made it play on the main projector in the class. Of course him and I got in trouble and were forced to setup a blocker for Mozilla as extra credit. we did. A virus on administrators computer. Good times. :]

My Parents had Zone Alarm installed once,when we shared a computer. They also had it enabled so that if you were going to install a program (most Windows programs) you had to have a password. This caused hell for a good year or so.

I really don't see how. Hmm. If you can't find what your parents use as a password on your computer, install a keylogger on your own computer? :] I did it. Lmao. I found out my dad was lookin at porn and my sister is a lesbian. lmao

ZoneAlarms has so many holes….. i put it on my computer and passworded it when i let my brother use it and when the password box comes up if you press Cancel it bypasses it :p

Dunno if they've fixed or not yet but i don't use it anymore cause it sucks….

Use cain and APR Poison your system if you want passwords from people on your network or if just local computer just dump all the system password hashes and then decrypt them… easy as pie.

My school has this proxy system that's linked to external database and doesn't let us on ANYTHING!!! It even blocks Google Translation because we could use is as a web proxy. For a while when they first got it we couldn't even get to Wikipedia but there was such an outrage that they unblocked it.

Oh, and don't even get me started on Ranger…

LOL sounds like what I did my school uses 2 servers 1 4 students 1 4 teachers and c:\ was blocked so what I did was went to my email during 1st hour and went to attach and clicked browse and c:\ drive opned and bang I had access to all the schools files so I ended up stealing like 4programs and then I changed the back ground to a m16 with text under it that says death is near. 2weeks later the office called my. class room and I got sent to the office got thretoned with expulshen and I got suspended for the max 10. Days

Me and my freind grabbed some of the mavis beacon files and edited them (well he did) and made it so we didn't have to hit the right keys… we could hit any key and it would type the right letter so basically it went as fast as we did @ 1oo% accuracy. But it glitched the server… hahaha we got in trouble for that one… and they had to call in a guy to fix it and he couldn't so we had to explain what we did. Then they also found all the music the students were hiding so we could listen to that instead of the evil suicidal mavis beacon music.

yep, f***ing up(pardon me) school computers is just too fun for some reason.

I have an epic school that decided to use citrix to easily prohibit from any file changing etc. along with an antivirus software configured to block the running of any exe not explicitly set to be ignored and a really annoying web filter that works off of a compiled database of sites and blocks based on words on a page - including stuff like lesbian, erotic and pussy cat :(
Not only that, but you can't access flash drives and they have cheap computers that don't even have cd drives, so the only hope for me is playing with the BIOS settings on start up, but as I only have one class (IT funnily enough) where I actually go on a computer regularly and all the computers can easily be seen from anywhere in the room (all of them set up round the outside so anyone standing in the middle can see all of the screens) so it's a bit hard to get away with anything there. Good news is we just spam all the shared folders with flash games, so we get through it, but they really do give us too much credit - I mean, I reckon no one in my school even knows how to change the directory in command prompt let alone bring firefox with tor to the masses :'(

well i was in a class where we have to do a lot of research, only 4 people in the class w00t?, and we were all by ourselves on some computers. We decided to edit wikipedia, and now all the schools computers are banned from editing wikipedia again until August 2009 lol… no one does it at school anyway, but we went to some page about a queen and started typing stuff like "MY DICK IS HUGE DO YOU WANT TO TASTE IT???'

Haha, I know man. Australia's schools have the worst filtering system ever - that's one thing. They converted the system to a whitelist - if you type in www.asjdosijgpoi.com, or any random combination of letters and numbers, it will appear as uncategorized. That's because a lot of people have created web proxies, and the government knew they were fighting a losing battle

Besides, that guy sounds retarded. My IPT (Year 12) teacher manages the faculty, and he's such a cool guy. He hates the DET for the proxy, he messes around, admits he 'downloads' stuff, and apparently plays Warcraft.

He caught me running nmap, using reg.exe and using an unauthorized version of Firefox, and didn't give a crap. I've got over 100mb of stuff in my folder.

And besides, I kill the state in computing. High Distinction for Computing Skills, 99% for the SC Computing test, and topping my class for IST ever since. Australia has such shitty computer education.

ya, my comp litt teacher was a real jerk… i hated him, and he hated me. one time inhis class, i had a question for him, so i raised my hand, and he looked right at me, and looked back at his computer, so i said his name, hoping that he just didn't see me… even though he looked right at me. he looked over, and looked right back at his comp, so i said it louder, and he didn't even look at me. so i yelled, "hey mr. lemay??" right in the middle of class, and everyone herd me, and looked, but he didn't! so i stood up, and said "hey [insert different word for donkey]?!?!" and he still didn't look, so i just kept insulting him for the last 5 mins of class, and everyone was laffing, and he was being dumb, because everyone around saw how much of a baby he was, just letting me verbally abuse him like that… what a loser… all i wanted to know is if i could go to the bathroom… i had to pee! :D

some computers in my school, don't have flash drives that work, keeps saying flash drive not recognized, and then the computer shuts down :S
majority of them don't have cd drives either.
as for the internet, you can't even search up on Google, anything that doesn't have "school" and "teachers" in it. cept the computer admins, haven't stopped people from accessing other proxy servers, and they get banned off the internet for the rest of the year if caught on one of the sites.

5 years ago tho, the internet was there, but they deliberately, didn't install an open .exe for it, so you could be clicking it and clicking it but it wouldn't open

Lol I think our school's computers are rather vulnerable. Just that no one has the balls to do anything yet. Though most of them don't even know what's 'html'. Lulz.

omg rofl i forgot our DET teacher Deleted S: Drive (sharing Drive used by everyone) so we only had our personal drive with like 15mb of memory

Friend from school years back…

Our school network was run under some outdated novel software package.

He basically went from command prompt using this one command to reset the students fileserver so no one could save anything to their account for the rest of the day(untill they manually reset server.) So basically we went a month of not doing any work what so ever with the file-server going down … Mysteriously. They always would laugh, so the teacher setup this program to log commands or something because they caught him red handed one day. He got expelled for the rest of the year, and mistimender(sp?) or something so now if he gets caught with anything he's basically going to jail. He didn't have to repeat the grade because he already had enough credits so he passed, plus it was like almost end of semester. Ended up coming back to the distric next year and he was banned from internet for the next couple years. It was funny because senior year our web design class he got caught looking at bongs during time period where we were supposed to be working =X.

Sounds like they should ban computers all together.
Here's 2 tips:
- Use a memory stick.
- Find and disable the port he's using to transmit the stuff for the monitoring program, you can easily write and run a program in the background to do that for ya, he'll never know until his screen goes black :)

I have bypassed so many things on the school computers, but they only last for about a week or two. I guess the school monitors everything we do. Oh and now, we cant run ANY programs off a memory stick.
As for home, my dad always puts some random stuff to block my internet. It never works

my school has this thing installed called fortiguard. i bypassed it with ultrasurf. its pretty good. u only need a LAN connection to run ultrasurf.

lol my friend installed a program on his comp in IST called "heatseeker" which jus downloads heaps of virus free porn with the sexuality fo your choice. he removed 2 seconds after he installed it cuz he thougth hed get banned lol.
