Just wondering what people think about gay/lesbians/bisexuals.

I dont think its right. What do yall think?

*Burning questions about life eh*

Quite frankly, I think it's gross. But I don't really have anything against them personally. They do what they do and I do what I do.

I sorta agree with bullzeye

People have the right to do what they want to do and feel the way they want to feel. Even though I see it as strange, I know they can't help it. I have a really nice teacher that is gay, and he acts completely normal.

you guys all like programming right?

let me tell you about Alan Turing,

I'd say he was the first person to really _get_ computers,
when theres a programming language that can use everything in a computer, its described as a Turing Complete language,
when theres a problem that can be solved with computers, its called a Turing Computable Function
a way of deciding if an entity is a human or computer is called the Turing Test
an abstract machine which is a lot like a computer (but has infinite memory) is called a Universal Turning Machine
theres something called a Turing Award which is considered the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for computer science.

Turing was a british mathematician who helped build computers that cracked the german Enigma codes, he arguable did more for the war effort then Churchill or Roosevelt, he should have gotten a knighthood and a bucketful of medals.

but he didn't, because he was gay,

in that time, homosexuality was illegal and treated as a mental disorder, he was given a choice, life imprisonment or get inject with drugs that make you get a high voice and grow boobs,

Turing ended up killing himself by taking a bite from a poison apple

this look familiar?

many believe Apple Inc. logo is a tribute to Alan Turing's apple

im not gay myself, but i think that story is a good reason for standing up for gay rights

are famous gay people are Oscar Wilde and Leonardo da Vinci,
so its obvious being gay doesn't affect anything else, notably intelligence or creativity

so basically i think the same as bullzeye95 and Macrosoft

why does everyone think gay people are going to try to have sex with them?

you think you are so hot they can't help themselves?
you wish, you're not incredibly attractive, so stfu and deflate your ego

you people remind me so much of girls that think everyone stares at them while they walk past, that guys have absolutely no self control can cannot help but stare at their tits or bum

also as far as i know, its not a belief, you cant choose your sexuality
iv heard of girls who say "men are pigs, i would be lesbian if i could choose"
and a guy who said (in a high voice) "you think i chose to be gay? you think i chose to be beaten up on the street because im gay?"

SKy Scripter

2008-05-18 13:10:41

I think people are gay for three different reasons.

1.) Sex and there own pleasure.
2.) They have add problems with the other sex.
3.) They completely find there selfs worth nothing, and the only people who will accept him or her is they're own sex. (because the environment they're in.
I'm sure there are other people who accept this person, but they ignore that without knowing it. )

I know because my cousin was a lesbian, and she ran away.
But really i don't think it's right because of these reasons.

if it's option 1, then i find that bullshit.
if it's option 2 or 3, then all they need is some consoling.

my cousin is no longer a lesbian, because she just needed help.
although she hasn't dated any guys she is no longer with any woman.

It's kind of like being extremely fat, nobody really enjoys it.
some obese people deny this, but no, they all know in there heads they would like to be skinny, but they just don't know how to feel good about them selfs.

2008-05-18 14:11:18

im sorry SKy Scripter but iv got a few gay friends, probably more than most people, and not a single one of them is gay for any of the reasons you posted.

people are gay because thats they way they feel. sure some dont want to be gay and try to find some kind of way out but most are happy.

when people discover that they are gay, most of the time its because of a deep connection with a close friend not because of past trauma.

2008-05-18 14:30:51

Yea SKy, i don't agree with u at all… i believe people are gay for only one reason: they enjoy being together with the same sex. I'm not gay, nor will ever be. But i think it's perfectly ok to be gay/lesbian. and the saying: "god made adam and eve, not adam and steve." is true… but times have changed and everyones different.

Well personally, I would love to walk down to StarBucks Coffee, without two girls or guys making out. It seriously makes every one in line uncomfortable. Same as most of you guys, I dont care about them as long as they do all the "unwanted stuff" privately.

SKy Scripter

2008-05-18 15:10:23

I just think there is a better reason for them enjoying there own sex.

mixster

2008-05-18 15:28:54

People have free will, thus it should stay free from people's opinions and criticisms. You only notice the two guys/girls making out because they aren't part of the norm for you. I'm sure there were atleast three other heterosexual couples in the room doing the same thing. Some people do become confused and put off one sex because of past experiences, but most become gay when they are attracted to members of the same sex - nothing they can do about that other than lie to them self.

Frowning on gays is like frowning on blacks. Frowning on blacks is like frowning on whites. People should learn to accept people for who they are.

As I said, Iv had some gay teachers and if they didn't tell us, I would never have noticed. They are no different from other people. Try to put yourself in their shoes. Imagine a world in which everyone was gay, and being straight was a minority. And you could make out with your girlfriend without making people uneasy. How would you feel?

It all boils down to the golden rule: "Treat others how you want to be treated"

@Yakman: That's not how I meant it by. There is this gay kid at my school, he sits near me and is always trying to flirt with me =X I'm like piss off, and he never leaves me alone, and he even knows I am straight. I think there is no need to homosexuals show themselves as such. Why they have parades? That may be fun for them, but only attracts unwanted attention.
Worse than that, there is a friend of my family, he is married, straight, cool and calm. But in his work there was a annoying guy, who was openly homosexual and kept annoying him, sending flying kisses or whatever, which was very displeasing. I find this very disrespectful.

are famous gay people are Oscar Wilde and Leonardo da Vinci

Well, that is something I have never heard…If you want better examples, I think Plato, or even Socrates may have been bisexuals, as such practice was common in ancient greece (pederasty was introduced in Crete as a population control law, I think).

–Read about Leonardo:He was accused of practicing sodomy in his Atelier, but was decided innocent, as there wasn't proofs.

the bible says all non-believes should be stoned to death,

Where do you find those rules? in the Old Testament, under Leviticus… most likely… While it is in the Bible the Old Testament is obsolete even in the Bible due to the New Testament and God's new covenant with the people of the world… The only people who follow these, even loosely, are Judaists… Also, those things make sense as 1. God declared Saturday as the holy day, even though it is practiced on sundays today. 2. They would stone girls who werent virgins when they werent married to prevent the spread, and in those times, creation of STD's if you think about it, no matter how harsh it may sound those are actually 2 things that make sense…

another banned thing is the eating of pig meat, because pigs are suseptable to many parasites,
but the keywords are in those times, today we have condoms to stop STD's and proper cooking to kill parasites, but yet these rules carry on,

also, stopping the spread of STD's is not the reason for the no-sex-out-of-wedlock rule,
that rule comes from the idea of women being property, and when you buy a watch, you want to peel off the seal yourself,

but in today's society we see things very differently, women are now more-or-less equal to men (except in saudi-arabia), and sex gets better if the people are experianced,

Trust me to relate to something nerdy but in the good nature of this thread, in the words of Chris O' Dowd from IT Crowd "I'm fine with my sexuality as long as I don't get slapped in the face with their sexuality." Gotta love british comedy eh?

I think being gay/lesbian/bi is totally acceptable, I really don't see anything wrong with it. I'm straight, and the only time I think its wrong is when I see two gay people making out on a park bench in a busy park, I mean, c'mon, I wouldn't even do that with a girl. Gay people are actually quite friendly. Although lesbians.. don't call me a hypocrite, but they seem to scare me a tad more. Like the ones that are heaps masculine, I just find it weird thats all.

In my opinion the world needs to open its eyes and not see this as a problem, but just acceptance. People can do what they want unless it is illegal (and no, making homosexuality illegal is not the answer).

Oh my god, some of the replies in this thread are so naive. No wonder discrimination is still rampant in our society.

I'm not gay. But seriously, being gay is not a religion. Being gay is not some sort of contagious disease. When you walk down the street, how many girls will; for no apparent reason, just jump on you and start trying to rape you? Why do you think homosexuals would even care about you in the first place?

There's nothing wrong with being gay, and I have nothing against them. I don't know any gays, but I - unlike seemingly a lot of people in this thread, are not scared to be friends with one, or restrict my relationship just because they were gay. I won't feel attracted to them, and it's most likely they wouldn't either. Girls don't even bother with me - and homosexuals are just like males with a girl 'eye'.

And people don't be gay because of a reason. They don't choose to be gay. They are born gay. I can't believe people think homosexuals actually become homosexual to have sex, or because they just don't like the other gender. That is so damn stupid.

The poll results are even more shocking - 6 people in the last category. Everything I read lessens my faith of humanity…

Genocide is the deliberate and systematic destruction of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group.

While precise definition varies among genocide scholars, a legal definition is found in the 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. Article 2, of this convention defines genocide as "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life, calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

Has Israel done those things? Please tell me and show me some proof, so i can research it and not be spouting things like a jackass.

Do you not classify 9/11 as being "attacked" they have terrorist attacks on their country all the time. They have massive support from the USA because they, along with Iraq, are bringing democracy to the middle east. They have a large army because they NEED a large army, they aren't a third world dictatorship who is trying to build a large military with our support… http://www.adl.org/Israel/israel_attacks.asp theres some proof of how often Israel gets attacked by terrorists, read up, learn something.

Sorry thanks for reminding me… I have nothing against homosexuals personally, i have known a couple and they were very nice people… But it does not take from the fact that it is wrong, the reason the scriptures are "out of date" is because of the "okay with everything"-ness and downgrading of society and the opinion that there is no "right" or "wrong". How can something be right if it does not perform the most basic function of any species? Reproduction. Look through nature, is it the norm to have homosexual dogs? While the "norm" may not always be right, most everyone here agrees that what is normal with nature, can be noted as the norm.

this actually made me lol in real life,

go to iraq now, tell me how much democracy is going on there,
there is a lot of instability there, there is martial law

before the invasion, the people of iraq had a very good standard of living in that region, second only to Saudi Arabia,

so don't go around pretending democracy is exclusive to US-supported countries.

give us names,

edit: except ones which can spread by contact on skin, like crabs and scabies, but they don't even kill you
but condoms stop the ones that matter, like AIDS and syphilis,

Its sick, people dont believe in sacrifice for the greater good anymore, you know who the founding fathers are? When they were declaring independence from Britain they were risking their lives, money, land, and way of life. They did it anyway and created the greatest country on the earth today. Even after the war the US dollar wasnt worth anything until easily 1786, the dollar was not stable for even longer than that. Radical change takes time, people seem to forget that, also there are people in Iraq trying to keep that change from taking place. Things don't just magically happen.

If that is true then why are we paying nearly 4$ a gallon? Also we dont need oil from over there. You know who is keeping the price of oil up? The ENVIRONMENTALISTS sure we can keep our world clean but when we dont put out as many pollutants as the earth itself does you cant blame "climate change" on America, who is'nt even the worlds leading polluter http://www.useless-knowledge.com/1234/dec/article115.html We should be able to drill on our own land, ever heard of Oil Shale? It is more expensive and harder to get than normal oil, but at this point it would be cheaper. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12400801/ - Price of crude oil http://ostseis.anl.gov/guide/oilshale/index.cfm - Oil Shale/extraction http://www.dailyreckoning.com/rpt/OilShale.html Oil Shale/reserves

Do you remember when people in Iraq were voting? All the death threats people got? While i haven't read up on Hamas and how the election was carried out, that is how these people get voted in. Them not a terrorist organisation? They claimed to have been involved in many suicide bombings directed at civilians and officials. Organizations who target civilians in an attempt to scare the population, are known as terrorists.

umm no, do some research before spouting off. The death toll for Katrina was just under 2000 people, not all were known to be killed by floods, or even other people, but they died during that time frame so were counted, there were a little over 2500 people total missing/confirmed dead… People of America dont care about that? Do you have any idea how much money and support was sent there? Many of my friends went to New Orleans to help, San Antonio (where i live) took in lots of people in the Alamodome, and sent lots of help. While it is true that I personally did not do anything, to have the audacity to say that i do not care about my fellow Americans is despicable. I am a huge patriot, my brother is going into the military and i am extremely proud of him, he has found his calling in serving this country.

I have no problem with either.
Unless a gay dude is like.. To the extreme.. Talking in high pitched voice..
Go get a sex change..
Sorry thats probably just cause of one dude who was in my school.. Hated him..
Other gays I know are amongst the nicest people I know (nicest as in kind etc)
They're really good to talk to if your having problems with a girl.. But cant talk to other girls about it..

Agreed, more than one condom is not a good idea, and if you use them correctly, they rarely break (just make its all nice and moist down there, using lube, or saliva) And yes, they stop many STD's, along with helping to stop pregnancy. I don't know how many of you actually engage in sexual activity…but my girlfriend is living with us for the summer, and we have sex often, she is on an oral birth control (the pill) and we have decided to still use a condom, and we are both STD free, its easier to clean up, and adds that extra pregnancy prevention…as with homosexuals…

I re-say my statement…I don't know how many of you guys have actually had sex, with anyone else, but it feels much better than masturbation, even if someone else masturbates you, it feels better. So thats just it…SEX FEELS GOOD!!!! And trying new things feels good, we are always trying new stuff…I will never be gay, but I can see how some people would like to be…I mean, being touched feels good. Its like asking why are people assholes…there is no answer, but you'll always run into them…so…GET USED TO IT!!!

Yakman and SirLaughsALot, please take it to a separate thread - my head hurts after reading your posts just to see if there were any references to homosexuality in the last few :(
Anyway, I agree with people saying that mega-butch lesbians are scary, but if you've ever watched a strongest women competition, that scares the life out of me as well. Gays with high-pitched voices are generally uncommon and I only know a couple of people (including girls) who have what I think of a has high-pitched voice and none of them are gay/lesbian.
Lastly, just want to add for people saying that they see the odd gay/lesbian couple making out and they dislike it - chances are there were many other couples not making out. You can't be prejudice to a very diverse group based on the odd couple you see.
