ok well i have read some time ago that two admins have been going around rs searching for bots well i have met one… i was running smart and i opened to check on it and some guy was talking to me now this script has no auto responder (ultra cut and bank) now the first signs where
1. he said my full user name ex(hello there sk8terbitu instead of sk8ter)
2. he was really nice too nice…
3.was trying to tell me things i and every one else in rs knew..
4 and his grammar was perfect and i mean perfect…i mean like
ex(Hello There Sk8terbitu How Are You Today…)
so i think this was an under cover admin….. what do you think.

Maybe they just tracked you and wanted to see if you were macroing, based on your RS username + SRL's..

Was it a p mod/j mod or a normal player? If it was a normal player, not a lot people do, but some use proper grammar. Maybe they just felt like talking?

sk8terbitu

it was a normal player but on a thread on runescape..they state j mods have normal players too….

Yes they do, but not for work purposes I'm pretty sure. They would do stuff like that on a account where they could instant ban if they were looking around. I've also read that they go around looking to make legit players think they are actually doing something (Some players believed they did nothing about it).

Trust me, just a player. I used to be buddies (ingame) with some 40 year old with perfect grammer. I also used to be in a clan with a guy that used perfect grammer and eventually became a player mod. Jagex will never send out undercover anyone. It was either a player or a really good bot/autotalker.

I always use very good grammar. Sometimes I even try to annoy the bots (it is fun when you spot them). The best thing is to use a catch phrase that makes them log out. Lol, that is always funny.

Capitalizing Every First Letter of Every Word Is Not Perfect Grammar. If that's what the person was doing, they were typing in caps…

richk1693

2008-05-15 23:10:36

Good grammar doesn't make them a Jagex employee. It is just someone who actually speaks English, unlike 95% of the people on Runescape.

2008-05-15 23:11:20

yeah it's hilarious to make bots think there's a random.
and no it was just a real, nice, smart rs player (rare but exicist)

There are some people I know IRL who use perfect grammar in RS and often say the full name of the person. And maybe he just thought you were noob.

Hugolord

2008-05-18 13:11:52

yeah, people in RS think that if they use proper grammar and stuff they will get mod status (they're probably right too).

sk8terbitu

naa i think its all at random…

HaHa I Think You Are A Little Paranoid Skaterbitu.
When I Am Bored On Runescape I Turn On Capslock So The First Letter Is Capitalised :)

Hobbit

2008-05-19 18:10:56

Yes, you are just paranoid.
If they thought you were macroing they wouldn't do that. They'd do the easy way and just ban you.

By the way… This Is Not Perfect Grammar. You Only Capitalize At The Beginning Of A Sentence Or Proper Nouns.

benjaa

2008-05-19 18:12:28

That is very true Hobbit :)
Thats about 2nd grade grammar

It was just a player. I also speak with perfect grammar and play runescape. Nobody is watching you at all. : )

ecnerwal

2008-05-19 23:22:31

I would too. I've met a few people that talked like that to me, but when i told them or they just stopped talking and left. So you could have suspicions just don't take them to seriously.

I use perfect grammer when playing RS. I don't know why, i just kind of do.. I doubt it was an undercover admin/mod.

My pMod friend told me this…

If you dont beleive oh well…

"Uhm Matt… be careful macroing.. because if we [any mods] see anyone we believe to be macroing… we submit their runescape name into some new form… then Jagex mods come and check it out."

I think this might, or might not be a Jagex Mod. But I say probably.

By the way… another word from the same mod…

Jagex is doing some staff, and punishment changes… for example… some offenses might be worth less… (Like last time they switched around, like 3k peopl got unmuted.) He said I might get my pure back. :)

2008-05-24 10:02:38

I don't see why should they go undercover since we have seen them on Jagex accounts too, for example some time ago someone posted of a Jagex mod at the Mage Training Arena.

Ohmygod

2008-05-24 10:08:49

I highly doubt it was a mod, I mean yes they have there own accounts.. but to play on .. not to hunt down autoers.. they do that with a system or detection or something?

If that was the case we cud be pking with mods and if we swore we would get ban so fast, So no need to worry

maybe cause when they go… people start following them and being "Noobs".. so they cant get what they needed to do get done.

I often use perfect grammar? I is be no a jaksex mood?
:]. Lol sorry.
There's alot of people in the world who use perfect grammar. That really has nothing to do with somebody being a Jagex admin or not.

2008-05-25 16:36:18

Hmm…
Now that you all start talking about undercover Jagex agents, there's always a chance that there could be a secret one among us on this very forum. A solution to this would be to be cautious of anyone registering from an IP address based in the city where Jagex's HQ is, Cambridge, England.

mooroolbark3

J mods are getting smarter tho, the trade limit was one of the starts, to stop people macroing to get money for their items in the real world.

and now you have p mods that have been instructed to go around where bots are most common.
and j mods are on normal accounts, to play rs and look out for bots,

so if someone is talking to you perfectly, he may be a j mod in disguise, or a p mod on another acc.

triplell

2008-05-27 23:07:24

Honestly, I would have to say you are a bit paranoid over the subject. You think jagex would take time to send out "undercover" mods. Bullshit…if they assume you are macroing, they are gonna ban you on the spot and let their customer support sort it out later.

Jagex tends to follow the "shoot first. Ask questions later." policy.

ill support the undercover theory. i was killing green drags for some time, when a lvl 110 came up to me said my full name, nothing else. so i said his name right back. he then slowly inched himself away from me. end of story.

undercover mods what shall we do

btw im not sayin its true just a possibility!

I was pondering, what if jagex has people on this site undercover looking at everyone posting things about scar, and always finding out about the latest techniques that we use?

I used to use Proper Grammar when I was able to type on RuneScape, Till you know, I got perm muted and 12.7 Black Marks. Lol.

2008-06-05 06:44:56

You must realize not everyone in the world has too much time in their hands and the will to pull-off such stupid operations. Jagex admins work for Jagex, so I'm guessing they have some other things to do too than just "go undercover", and for that kind of "omg check if that guy uses a bawt lolz" stuff they have their very own league of retards to use, the PLAYER MODERATORS!

Cruel fact is that jagex workers do not sacrifice loads of their time just to find out if you're macroing, and there is not 10 000 people army sitting behind their pc's 24/7 walking around spotting macroers.. There might be quite alot of rambling in this post but it annoys me how some people tend to post and think that jagex workers spend all their time manually watching over players spotting macroers, which is obviously just stupid..
