Runescapes next step against macroers?

When planning future projects or attempting to really push the technology of the RuneScape game, we often come across the same problem: we have no information about everyone's computer hardware. With this kind of information, we could release more RuneScape improvements that make the best use of your system's capabilities.

We have come up with a solution that we'd like you to help us with. We have developed a program that, once downloaded, will tell us the following things about your computer:

* Your operating system
* Your graphics card
* Your CPU
* Your Java version
* Relevant graphical and audio drivers

Once we've gathered together all of this information, we can begin planning our future projects and RuneScape improvements to work within these specifications. This means that very few people will miss out on some awesome updates that we have planned!

To begin downloading the program, visit this link and log in. It will guide you through an agreement page to make sure that you understand what is required. The process does not take long, so you should be back to RuneScape in no time.

The applet is completely secure and official (you can verify this by checking that your address bar states www.runescape.com/). We can guarantee that your information will only be used by Jagex to develop future games and improve RuneScape. It will not be shared with any other organisations.

NOTE - Please only download the program from RuneScape.com. This is the only legitimate source.

Since Java perhaps isnt powerful enough to search your system for programs or actions, would this new program by jagex be a secret backdoor into finding out all our macro secrets? The program is designed to diagnose the system specs, but, would it do more? Perhaps someone should decompile it to be sure.

This sounds sorta fishy … since when have jagex wanted to make updates so good that they want computer specs. I don't think they could make something that could search for macroing programs and many people might just think they are not allowed to search your computer but there privacy policy states otherwise.

RS doesn't really have a sys req, my old f' ed up pc runs it just as smooth as any other, making this complete Bullshit. Diagnose? hell no, Macro/Cheat checks? hell yea.

They can't search your pc for macroing stuff, that'd be illegal as it is in violation of the privacy laws…

Hopefully Freddy is right, though I think so… About your worries of our "macroing secrets", argon, what is preventing Jagex from reading a tutorial in the How To Auto section and setting up SCAR?

Ye what freddy said is right, jagex would not risk being sued over privacy laws just to find out who the few macroers left in the game are.

Knowing how to setup and run / implement scar is one thing, knowing the exact names of macroers by programs they run is another.

But they can do that without handing out freeware lmao! What prevents them from going to www.freddy1990.com/scar.php and learning to script?

The another one, why do you think they'd find out RS nicks of macroers by seeing if they use SCAR or iBot?

Not here nor at iBot do people mass use some generic account creator that spits out names that are being a signature of the program? No.

At Kingoscorm, - Chitin's view is the same as mine, they can do what Chitin said, cannot do what bloodargon said.

Bloodargon, the part you propably missed is that they know we exist, they know SRL Forums, they know Moparisthebest, they know RSCheata. If they didn't knew that color bots like us exist, they wouldn't have to make such ridiculous anti-macroing systems, for example the Random Events. What other game disturbs the gameplay of legit players when trying to catch bots? None.

If only Java bots existed, Jagex wouldn't make Random Events because there would be no use, Jagex programmers are Java programmers, they know what Java is capable of!

Lol well I think that n3ss3s summed things up nicely…

I just wanted to say that my Mac is fine after running the program, and no knew files have been saved/created.

Just throwing that out there :P
