Why don't we try and make the standards a little bit …less lax?
While it doesn't matter a lot, why don't we start teaching
Hungarion Notation? While SCAR doesn't have pointers, it would greatly improve readability, and show that people are actually making an effort when they post scripts or applications.

Alot of things in SCAR are like this…such as colour.
clRed is a colour.
wsMinimized is a windowstate.
I don't think making it for all variables though is too necessary.

Santy!
[Not exactly, we don't see Hungarion Notation in most scripts from members down.

I meant that in-built types already have this.
And, are you back again? I haven't seen you in a long time.

Your spose to give them meaningful names as it is, People should already name like that, with the exception of 'g' infront of Global variables

Changing standards is the same as changing a tradition.
I have personally no problem with the current ones, and haven't heard anyone complain.
Though, if I remember right, in the "standards tutorial" at Kaitnieks was mentioned that bitmaps should be named bmpName, like in SRL they are. It isn't such a big thing for it to be a "must" for scripters, and does not, (IMO), affect the readability, unlike indenting, spaces between params etc.

Probly not for long, I'm studying to test out of 3-4 grades in highschool.

It's somewhat like changing a tradition into a larger tradition, though. O_o

I copied the standards tutorial over to here from Kaitnieks and posted it as a tutorial. The link is in my sig.
And, yes it does say that variables should be given descriptive names but this really doesn't seem like a big deal. Its not like this is a monarchy, users here are free to script as they choose.

Standards should be considered lax when the readability of the code is affected.
And I personally won't like typing in 'intX, intY' everywhere…

I see no point in complicating simplicity. It only scares away new scripters.

I think pressuring into it would be wrong, but encourage the idea of offering it as an alternative for new scripters. Often people will only reread code after a while of not working on it at all and it is very difficult to get into the same train of thought needed to start improving upon it again and as many clues as possible as to what the code does is helpful as people never comment. In a free community, it's always good to offer more :)

But still, the current standards promote meaningful names… So hungarian notation is not really needed.

It is really the choice of the scripter. I originally used this, but no longer found the need.

I use Hungarion Notation rather frequent, though not always, don't always see a reason to do so…

I mostly use it in C where things get pretty… messy…
But delphi doesn't get messy that much… :)

exactly, I only use it when needed, and its only needed in c/c++ (unless u like headaches)
