I completely switched to ubuntu last week and i still can not get smart to work. I'm using wine and everything has worked well so far. I can open scar, download srl, install the subversions, compile and see debug of non-smart programs, I installed java and can load SMART (I hear runescape) but i can't see the smart window and it never logs in or does anything. help?

I would be very surprised if it worked in Ubuntu. I was talking to Benland while he was developing SMART and he always had to go to his Windows machine to test it (he was working with Ubuntu). Also Yakman said that FindColor functions don't work in Linux.

That's what pissed me off with my new mac, it didn't have anything like the Windows GDI.

Thats why it doesn't work in wine, wine does not have or load windows libraries like the GDI.

Thats why I happily run parallels on my mac, and everything is just peachy. OR I just start up to windows.

There was a post in dev forum Dankness made saying he had gotten SCAR to work with linux, gimme a sec ill see what he said.

Well as most of you probably know I am a Linux user, I have been using a copy of Crossover Office i found recently to use Photoshop and afew other applications lately and it has helped greatly with them, So i tryed using SCAR with it and So Far it appears to Work properly? I havent actually tryd to run a script on RS yet but so far It did move the mouse to a color and Click on a Icon on my Desktop! Also the Colors and Fonts were of the Proper Size ( I tryed using SCAR with Wine on DSL linux and the Fonts were insane and completely ununsable) I am curious if anyone else has attempted this with Crossover Office yet or not?

so youve got a chance of getting it to work, well SCAR at least :)

I've had it work with Ubuntu 7, haven't tried with 8 which I just installed yesterday.

The only problem was that it crashed after about a half hour =\

Have you tried importing Windows DLLs into Wine? I know it can do it, but I'm not really sure how >.<

i can get it to run SCAR but it wont run SMART because it needs Java in the default spot for windows which it wont find cause you cant install java for wine.

Yes you can. Just use the Windows installer, which will run and install it into Wine.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get it to work, which makes me sad, because I had it working before (just after it was released to members).. *sigh*

Owned.

If you crash linux doing this, that is one very big step…

R0b0t couldn't you use the same program that you found out what SCAR loaded to find out what SMART loaded so you would be able to run it?
