This information must NOT leave SSRL.

As a follow up to Wizzys warning I will give you my pov.

ALL of our accounts are banned. All of them! All 10-out-of-10 blackmarks, for breaking rule nr. 7. Moreover, my Main where I NEVER autoed on, is banned too. The only three accounts that are NOT banned are those that play legit from our I.P. So luckily my wifes account is still going strong, pfew.

BUT:

All accounts where banned on MY BIRTHDAY!
All accounts are heavily associated with my I.P. (82.92.130.193)
All accounts are MANUALLY banned. (not all accounts from my I.P. banned)
On top of that, my main (Drissyweer) was banned too. (never autoed on)

And you all know how cautious I have always been. I have never autoed signed, I have always removed cache and all traces of Jagex from my machine. The only links Jagex have are through my I.P. and information about me and my actions that are all widespread throughout this board.

So….

We have spies. We are monitored very closely. Now that the Jagex team got rid of RWT and the Java bots, the Banning Team is focussing on other cheaters, like SRL.

The Eye of Sauron finally spotted me.

I am 100% convinced that I was banned on purpose on my birthday. It's just too coincidential. Jagex is closing in on us, or at least on the Leaders of the Cheating-Boards. Evidentally, what they are trying to accomplish is total demoralisation by hitting hard on those they hold responsible for destroying their game. Therefore, this information must NOT leave SSRL. It must never be known that WT-Fakawi has lost all of his players. It would be a blow to the community.

However, I hold no grudge. If I was in control of the Jagex-Bot-Hunting-Team, I would have done something like that looooong ago, and in effect it's well deserved too. I have autoed 10.000+ hours, draining the life out of their pity system. I will try to get Drissy unbanned, but I dont think it will work.

This is a warning to all of you that are still autoing. Keep your I.P. hidden.

For the love of my wife, I will never auto on my I.P. again. I got the message.

P.S.
I bet that one of the guys that replied on My Birthday Thread is the Jagex Spy :)… nah not

Makes me wonder who gone done it.

Most likely, just a lurker, a zero-poster. There is no reason to assume its anyone we know.

How did they get your IP?!

WT-Fakawi

2008-04-29 19:51:26

Many possibilities. Who's Online for one. Or maybe they looked at some of the Pictures I posted from my home-server. Or maybe someone gave it to them, but I think that is unlikely.

Bam Bam

2008-04-29 19:56:07

If I were JageX though, I would penetrate as far as possible…
To me that would include here… Of course maybe it is just absurd that I am considering this…

edit: Erm, Jagex could also get IPs from the IRC…

WT-Fakawi

2008-04-29 19:58:38

Ow BTW… the lvl 94 Thiever (all autoed…sshhhhh) is still unbanned :)

So they freely ban the F2P, but leave the threshhold on P2P high.

BamBam: You mean SSRL? Nah, thats being plain paranoid. Its just a lurker.

So we should proxy now?

Or just not give out our IPs

You could get two internet connections like Fawki has…
Or if you have a dynamic IP and are as careful as Fawki is then you are more safe, especially if you were to auto on only one set of accounts per IP rotation…

But ultimately your safest keeping your IP private, or as private as is possible.
Oh, and don't join all those little floundering forums. Some of those could be run by JageX.

This is more or less my little shared brainstorm, much more could be added.

Edit: When did JageX get rid of Java bots? SMART is Java?

Bobarkinator

2008-04-29 20:56:57

Yes that sounds way to coincidental that they banned on your birthday. Do you and Wizzy have different autoers? Because Wizzy's posted that they got banned about a week ago.

Special Ed

Ya… IMHO I agree with Bam Bam. If I were from Jagex I would try to penetrate as far into the system as I could so long as I would never be directly confronted were I may give my position away.

I think we need to release a sweet script that will show them we're still going strong. Maybe MVP will be just that thing? Although if they aren't apart of SRL Members it wouldn't cause that much of a strike-back.

They could even be a dev or someone who is like me and not that active.
All it would take is a JageX programmer with a little free time and the ambition (ie. Mr. Boss telling them to) to learn SCAR scripting. I would hope a professional programmer could easily get to the level of Dev here… (Well, not really… But I would hope they have the skills)

Dark_Sniper

2008-04-29 21:42:11

kinda ironic it happened as soon as I decide to pop in too.

get a dynamic ip… thats all :p.

It is always smart to hide your ip ir get a new one every so often.

I think while playing xbox live these days I have to change my ip 10-25 times a day.

with runescape maybe change it for every character or something.

Interesting theory (albeit depressing), dont know why they would leave uncut*** and wizzups main unbanned though? if they REALLY wanted to rub it in they could of done that… maybe because they're both members and dont want to lose the extra revenue? either way, sorry for your loss fawk, bans really do suck :( i was shattered at my few bans, which are minimal compared to this one you just suffered. http://www.villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18009

Geesh, on your birthday… Sorry for the loss, great effort behind that army.

Compared to Andrew's RWT removal techniques removing 60,000 paying members instead, he put a tad brain into this one because what IF we were a different kind of community and would've just posted in public, as you said it would've been a really big hit on the community because most of the new members atleast would've cut all interest in cheating there…

I think they want to blow us away: by banning all of the chars of our leader(s), they want you to stop autoing and leave the scene, which will cause us to die (really, where's SRL without Fawki and Wizzy?).
The fact they banned your main too on your birthday is enough evidence for this.

Who's next after this? All of the devs? All of SSRL? Anyone they know the IP of? Time to dust of good ol' Tor.

java bots technically still work same as before, but people keep everything to themself,
i think they started on java bots a long time ago, making it much more difficult to make one, so people become much more protective of their work

i think starblaster one said jagex spies have always been around, maybe there were around when SRL was hosted from your home server, thats another way to get your IP

since you say they are manually banned, do they have different text in each ban message?

i need to learn about this TOR, it must be good, since it seems to defy the laws of internet protocol,

I kind of gave up on Runescape after they took away the wild. I no longer auto (not that I ever really did) and I barely every play. I'm sorry about your loss. You must have worked hard on your main.

I suppose cheaters will now have to macro through proxies.

Markus

2008-04-30 07:08:18

Yea, I think we need to. And in order to macro trough proxy's, we need to go back to the "stone age": VMs or only one at the same time at a computer.

Jagex have always been registered at forums. A few have been spotted on Moparisthebest.com, 1 or 2 on Sythe.org, and so I wouldn't be surprised if some were here as well.

The only way I can think of for them obtaining your IP is if someone once mentioned one of you account names, and they matched IPs on that account.

I've only ever autoed on my main and 2 other accounts and as far as I know, none of those are banned even though I've spent hours running and testing my early crap-scripts.

If this is a coincidence I'd be shocked. The birthday thing might be, however…

TOR is a peer-to-peer network it seems, i only skimmed the wikipedia page

since wikipedia itself bans all known TOR nodes to stop people editing articles, i dont think theres anything stopping jagex doing the same

for smart using proxy, benland could patch the socket class like was done to the canvas class,
one convenient thing is that java standard library already has support for proxies

Markus

SOCKS5 protocol is easy as piss, you only need to send a few bytes. After that, communication is like usual.
And even if they block Tor, we still got Freenode. If they block both, we can revert to good old proxy lists.

Bam Bam

2008-04-30 17:00:11

You can configure Java to use a proxy in the Java Control Panel. Would that be all that needs to be done to protect the IPs?

No, not with SMART.

Yakman

no, thats the easy part
theres a place in the runescape client where it does

sock = new Socket(runescape_host, runescape_port);

there needs to be a way to intercept this someone, so it ends up putting a slightly different socket in the variable "sock"
and i assume the value it puts there would be made to connect to a proxy first.

not necessarily difficult, but only benland can do it

proxies might not be the answer to your problems, they are quiet slow and unstable iv heard, might not be practical for autoing,
on the other hand, the only ideas we have is this and the TOR method

@Markus, it is an easy protocol, but its generally bad to re-invent something when it already exists,

Can't we spit through our IP database and trace people from the UK? And then go one by one 'n check them all? Sounds like mission impossible ..

Autoing to proxy isn't the solution.. Once they found out about the proxy, it will be very easy to just ban all the cheaters.. It's a bit weird to, first being in china > UK > French > USA etc.. Will be very detectable I guess :o

Do you really think they'd care if I used my buddies server or my own?
They would still ban all the accounts of someone who (used to) host(s) a RS-Cheating server or movement… They might have not been entirely sure, which is why all the accounts that have ever been member, or still are, have not been banned.

Ok, got a ban too. One. After 48 hours straight chickenkilling. Predictable you think, but it is weird for the following reasons:
  1. Only one char got banned. I autoed on two chars
  2. The chars were twins and autoed at exactly the same time.
  3. The char that got banned got one random during autoing, the other didn't
  4. I only posted one report, and said I autoed on one char. Only one char got banned.
  5. The char that got banned autoed less than the other one.

We have a spy that can view the IPs? But it doesn't seem that likely that unless Jagex has a bot that they would be interested in reading all the forum posts to see who claims to have been autoing. And then get the IP.

loads of websites are suffering from a few vulnerabilities in wordpress, some famous sites i know
just cause loads of people use it, doesn't mean its safe/secure/better/easier, look at windows to get what i mean

also, it might not be in vBulletin, i know there are many stuff dankness has added, like the script stats for example, but some of those might be

still though, i don't know much about php, im just going to wear my "I told you so" expression and point out how vBulletin is not open source

its visual source, php isn't compiled, still though, you have to pay for it, and people do make cracks of vBulletin, not like SMF
