I'm leaving for Mexico (for vacation) tomorrow (Wednesday) and coming back Tuesday. I don't know if I'll find a computer there so I might go inactive for the week. Hopefully I have fun :)

Any tips or 'hints'? :p

I hope you aren't going to Cancun, it is so Americanized there and is basically like you are in America. And it's "dirty" there.

If you are traveling more around Mexico City, it is very beautiful and has a lot of sight-seeing areas. Plus you can visit the ruins of Tenochtitlan and other stuff.

And no, as long as you don't go out in the cities at night you'll be fine. In Mexico City there are gangs that run the streets at night, but during the day it is usually safe.

Another tip: They will try to rip you off because they assume people can't do the math for the exchange rate on the fly, so if you are looking to buy stuff, I would always calculate it yourself before showing any money of paying. Once you show them money, they will jack up the price most of the time (this is with street vendors, usually shops have set prices and you can't haggle)

I'm going to a place near Cancun :\ Like 50 miles south, not exactly sure what it's called. Thanks for the advice :)

A few questions about Mexico…

Are the outlets the same form as the US and do they give the same amount of voltz(sp?)? Like, would I need an energy converter?

Do you get American TV channels or just Mexican :\?

Make sure the car you rent has 'No Hopping' somewhere on it in both Spanish and English. That way they'll love you.

Yeah i just came back from there not too long ago and it was way fun. All I have to say is the $1 beer in Cozumel was the shit. Yeah… beaches, sun, ocean, beer… live it up my friend.

However if you are under age or if you just dont drink or if you like sightseeing then i would highly recommend seeing the Mayan ruins in Chitzenizta (<– spelling? sound it out i guess). Its really awesome stuff.

Also just a reminder… if you do happen to be out at night and the police take you into custody… make sure you have stuff on you to bribe them with. If you dont then they can hold you for two years without trial or anything. Our goalie on my lacrosse team was taken by some police and they stole his watch and left him in some random ghetto. It probably didnt help that he was hammered and wandering around Cancun at night… he was lucky though that they didnt keep him in custody. :rolleyes:

Hah! When we went there, my dad was freaking out at the guy because the beer was bad… he stood there for 15 minutes yelling at him xD

I'm back :) I got back last night, but was too tired to turn the computer on.

I had fun - swam with a dolphin, got to hold iguanas and tropical birds, and the food was great.

I think I'm going to go inactive for a bit. Now that I've been away for a bit, I'm not as addicted :p I've got a lot to catch up on in school, and then there's a bunch of things coming up. I'll probably look through the 3600 posts I missed and then - Adios! (for now anyway)
