i had an idea for double posters

could we have some sort of message pop up if we have posted in the same thread without some else posting within an hour?

Why within an hour? Just make it so that if anyone posts 2 times in a row anywhere they get it :)

Or just don't allow it to happen. (like give an error message or something)

because a double post is 2 post in a row on the same thread within an hour

Where'd you find that? I always thought it was just plain posting twice in a row.

i agree, however, if i wanna keep my thread alive, and nobody has posted in like 3 days. i'm not above a double if i can't get someone else to bs a post for me to make it look good

I Support this I'm seeing some people respond with Triple posts. Even though the rule is enforced it's being forgotten and/or ignored. It should be a board rule that it will not let you do more than 1 post without another post below.

I don't know web design or how these forums are set up, but if there was a little check box to not allow double posting I think it woulda been checked a long time ago, right?

Doubleposting isn't a serious problem, people who do that told not to and they stop.

Implementing that involves pretty good knowledge of the boards php structure or finding the mod on a site and "installing" it. It also then means that the mods will have very little to do which is never a good a thing. Anyway, just a popup warning them that they were the last poster and that if they if they double post without good reason then they will get an infraction and that if it was just to add to their previous post, they should instead edit it would be good :)

or just put in auto-merging, i dont know if its a board option or not but Solar has it on Kyab

good idea but what if they scripter has updated the script and has posted previous and than still no-one posted and they need to post the script has been updated :S

He can delete his last post and make the 'update' post :)

I think you should never double-post, regarding the time that it has been without someone else posting. Edit ur previous post and keep the boards clean!

i think its an excelent idea to prevent all those noobies from there frickend annoying double posts they can learn to edit from this also

It is amazing how many rules you have broken without getting banned.

hes only breaking a few rules…multiple times :p

I don't think people purposely double post to gain post count or w/e. Its more or less just because they don't know the rules regarding double posting or they don't know about editting posts. If we could have a popup that says "You are double posting. Use the edit button instead" then ask if they wish to continue posting or cancel. There are some occasions where double posting is appropriate.
