Re-Apply Rule?

I've noticed that while we have a rule where you're not supposed to re-apply until 30 days after your last application, why isn't there some sort of automated "tag" that makes it so your account can't apply before 30 days is up?

The only reason I can see not having that is because it will show that the person has enough self discipline to keep themselves from applying and knows the rules, but other than that…

I posted this in SSRL mostly to get the attention of the administrators because I'm almost positive that they're the ones with the plan, and if we end up changing it… they would be the ones to go to.

It's a nice idea… I have two things to throw out:
1. Possibly let them post it, but send a PM to mods/admins for them to decide if the application should be allowed (probably not)
2. Auto-decline, and let the person send mods/admins a PM asking if they are allowed to post it

Both suggestions may annoy the mods and admins from too many PMs, and I don't even think they check their PMs often anyways, but I just thought I'd throw those two suggestions out there. As for the abrupt auto-decline, I think it's a good idea, but that there should be some way to bypass it for special exceptions.

The Admins could just over-ride it, but if its really that special of an occasion they would probably just be insta-memberized.

Yes. If you're not going to enforce a rule, you may as well get rid of it.

I agree 100% Smartz. I was hoping to have the opinion of some other members or Administrators but it's not a huge problem so I won't bug 'em too much. :p

Is the problem really that big? Most people wait one month.

Do they? Last I checked, people were still applying 4+ x a month…

I think to knowingly break a rule such as the apply once per month rule deserves at least a warning on the second offense. (I'm not entirely sure what is done now)

I also tend to disagree with the automatic enforcing of the rule as it doesn't require any discipline on the applicants part to only send in an application when a computer allows them too.

I think a month is a bit long, most people are just giving up and aren't coming back rather then staying and improving. I think maybe try lovering to 14 days.

It doesn't matter how big the problem is, the fact that it's not being enforced is what the problem is. It shows a weakness on our part, and like Smartz said, what good is a rule if you're not enforcing it?

I also think you're right hobbit, a month seems kind of long… 14 days sounds reasonable but I think if we're going to lower the amount of time you have to wait to re-apply, we need to make the severity of breaking that rule a bit harsher.

Like I said Bam Bam… that's really the only reason I can see to "not" having the auto-decline system, and I do agree that that's a good reason, but I'm just trying to generate some ideas.

i'd agree with Ed on this one. one month is a lot of time, you can really improve your script a lot in a matter of days and then test it out to iron the bugs. i'd say two normal school-weeks would be more than enough to do it. but then again we should take the rule more seriously if we make the time shorter.

I normally close an application and say they have to wait one month. If I see someone who (in my eyes) is members meat, I'll give him two weeks. Wizzup gives them always two weeks I believe.

I propose this:

If someone reapplies within two weeks, we close the poll. After that (even if one month was said), we let it open.
