how come you let people leech. (yes im aware this is my first post, nearly finished my auto fighter though.)

All i see is " my script wont work " " whats this error " from people that have no idea, arnt planning to learn, and just want to get ahead in RS. I think it would be good to limit it by only letting people download scripts once they have produced a script and have some sort of knowledge.

Put a stop to leechers. Jagax will think they got rid of them and settle down on all the randoms ect.

Why would you get flamed… everyone has freedom of speech.

The point a separate Junior members and normal registered members section is to limit the number of leechers and encourage people to actively take part in the community. Once you've been here for a week and have made 10 (I think its 10) legitimate posts (non-spam) you'll have access to more and better scripts that might actually work.

Your idea about restricting the scripts until one has proven they can script is some what flawed. There are lots of active Juniors and SRL Members that aren't that good at scripting. Instead they help the community through posting advice and proggies and being helpful. You can't expect these people to write a script just so they can access the scripts section.

Furthermore, without access to scripts how are people going to learn even if they wanted to. I know when I was learning to script I was getting much of my information from looking at other scripts not just through tutorials.

Also Jagex won't care if people leech or not. Jagex are determined to get rid of autoing altogether.

I remember when i first signed up with SRL i didn't start scripting straight away i mean i wasn't going to waist my time if the community was crap which it's not its awesome so i checked out a few scripts and tested some got to know what scripting is like then started scripting. Now im not saying that there aren't leechers in this community but that is why we have Jr mems, Mems and FFA(free for all) sections. All im saying is give them a break they need to start somewhere…

The SRL members section is restricted to only people who have learned to script well and has tons of awesome scripts (from what I hear) the jr. member scripts aren't as good but still have plenty of good ones to learn from. Leachers can have access to outdated and first scripts that people made just to learn.

People have to start from somewhere, it's not like those same people will keep posting the same error forever. It's just ignorance, and that can't necessarily be put to an end.

I sorta agree…i mean people are just gonna leech, its how you get half the members, but when they leech and see the awsome free codes, they think, maybe i should become more into it and see what else there is…hence, jr members (yes i know 4 posts…i just joined today though) And you are right, most people DONT care and just wnna cheat, but atleast some kids (like me) are here to learn more about the codes and the way they work then cheating in rs…its just a game, but codes, codes are a whole career of oppertunties.Eek

This is a large give and take scenario, you have to start somewhere, but if everyone had to make a script think of all the powerminers or woodcutters 0_0

im here for the scripts yes but im also not a leacher because i want to further my knowledge in scripting,and hoping to and i will be on the forums as much as possible

yes i know, not many people arn…per say, interested in acutally codes (btw Drizzt owns all) but i mean, atleast if they have 2 do it themselves, theyl be more chance for them to become interested…its a low chance, but more programmers would do the world good, and less leechers would do jagex wonders xD

Leechers, although unbelievably annoying (and my experience comes from the torrent site on which im most active on), play an essential part i believe…

With the recent updates by runescape being crippling to macroers, it should be important to keep numbers high, and that can only be done by introducing new (yet annoying and lazy) people to the community.

After a few "This error pops up!" messages that leechers send, they will eventually find a script thats works (if they persist), and quite possibly grow to creating their own scripts… I would be lying if I said I wasnt exactly the same (although I just read every other leechers post and the comments), but now I've taken the inititive to create my own script and learn the language a bit.

The ONLY issue I have with this community is the whole "You cant access the profitable scripts without member status" thing… Surely people can realise how hard it is to comment on something non-profitable without saying "Great script… works wonderful" or "Error on so and so line"…

I feel I could contribute more if I could access the scripts, use them, comment on them (hypercritical of me, I know) and then USE them to understand how to adapt them for the script I'm making (And yes, I could just post somewhere where I am having difficulties, but lets face it, a problem solved by yourself is much more gratifying than waiting a few hours for someone to come up with a solution for you).

Just my opinion, hope it didnt sound like a rant, and I hope others share it =P

I do not totally agree with what you say because testing scripts, looking at them and seeing how they work is a part of the learning to make script. If you say ''Give me a script and I'll let you enter the forum'' peoples will be confused and have no idea how do we do… But it is true that they need to stop starting threads about their scripts not working when they didnt read any tutorial and don't know anything about scar.

it doesnt even unnecessarily have to do with leechers eventually learning how to script, though that is a good reason. if there were no leechers, then there wouldnt very many people to test your script and to complain that it didnt work. or suggest ideas of things to add to a script.
