I don't get why SCAR is programmed in Delphi…if it was in C++ it would be much faster…in my mind Delphi sucks as bad as VB

Im guessing because it was compiled on a free version… any other guesses? :D

Because kaitnieks knew delphi at the time? In hindsight it may look bad but at the time i guess he just it would be easiest done in delphi.

cause delphi is easier to learn then C++ probably

because delphi is easy to learn, so therefore noobs can make scripts quite easily… If he wrote it in C++ and used a C++ Scripting Langunge if wouldva been harder for ppl to make scripts and it would of probably died ages ago because of that reason…

Delphi isn't all to bad.

Scar just needs to be updated in my mind, using Delphi 7 and some recoding of the core functions.

Why delphi 7? i find 2006 much better to use and less bugs in the indly clients for it. i have to agree that scar needs to be updated but i do not think that source code is around, well it may be i have not realy trtyed to look for it. it would be nice to get the source code and add an auto incude for srl to it so people dont need to keep indueing them all on there own.

also delphi is much easyer to use than C++ or so that is why is most likly used it if u try and go from C++ to delphi once u get the hang of delphi most pople find that it is much easyer to use the main resion for people useing C++ over delphi is because C++ is open anyone can use it delphi you have to pay for or get by other means that is the only main resion for people useing C++ over dephi both can do the same stuff with the same amount of power.

Delphi isnt so bad, It is pretty easy to learn, I mean I started to know the basics of scar in like 1 week :)

yeh scar but not delphi scar is not the same as delphi it has the same layout and same basic commands however it does not have headers to worry about to find a color in scar and srl is easy try to do it in delphi and you have to do it a much harder way than the way we are doing it because the functions have been made for us. but yes delphi is easy to learn once you understand how classes work and events and things like that.

Delphi's good for scripting stuff like SCAR. If you used C++ it might be a little better in some areas but it would be overall weak.

Delphi is fine for SCAR. Sure, with C++ you could gain much more control, but what for? I mean, you don't need more than delphi to run SCAR on, so why should you implement C++ scripting when its not needed? Scar is primarly a color clicker, and thus I don't beleive all the extra functionality is needed. Plus, with C++ also come security issues like buffer overruns in arrays and such.

So, the majority of people would probably shoot themselves in the foot if they started using a C-environment for scripting. It would take quite a long time to learn (C sure is complex :( ), and scripting would get too hard for most people to even care about.

It's the flexibility and simpleness of Delphi that made cheating attractive. So, yah, C++ is fine, but not in SCAR please, unless you get to choose wether to use C++ or the downgraded SCAR-Delphi.

Yes looking at the scripting language of delphi and C/C++, delphi is by far the eaiser. Like it has been said, the simpleness has helped keep it going and getting new scripters involved.

Delphi (very basic) i lerned in about 2 hours (thanks to Inholtz :p). I'm positive C++ would have taken me alot longer. Delphi invites noobs to start. It was a springboard for me into bigger and better things (java, still learning tho.)

so basically delphi is easy to learn and thus it is easier to create script with it in scar. like dankness said if it was in c++ many people would have gave up scripting long before now and we probably wouldn't be here now…
