Today I will show you how to increase your downloading speed by raising the max half-open TCP connections. This will allow you to download from more people at once.. (NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VISTA)

First download this patch.. http://torrentfreak.com/evid4226patch223d-enzip/


A box will come up just click ok. Now extract the files…


click on the patch…



Make sure you type Y. You will have to wait 15 seconds. If you get a popup saying something about windows file recovery or something just cancel it and click yes.

Now for uTorrent users…

Options > Preferences > Advanced options > net.max_halfopen


And for bitcomet users (like myself)…

Options > Preferences > Connection > max half-open TCP


There you go. Your speed should increase by alot. I went from 32kb/s to 140kb/s. Leave any feedback you have. Thanks..

It is safe. If you download a file with a virus it may increase the speed in wich you receive it.

I heard this is a bug in Windows XP so it doesn't work in Vista, I have done it myself and it works perfectly (I used to get horrible lag after I opened my .Torrent program, even if it was downloading only 12kb/s it was still lagging my computer AND my internet connection, on the sidenote, my Internet connection is 8/1M so it shouldnt get jammed my mere 12kilobytes). As far as I know there was a site about this too wich explained the whole thing, but I can't remember it for now, It might seem like a hoax at first but atleast for me it worked perfectly and I haven't noticed any malfunction in my computer after doing that.

when i clicked the patch it said ''Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropiate permissions to access this item.''

But my account is a administrator.

Trust me guys it's not a virus I'm not stupid like that, and i'm not really sure why you wouldn't be able to download it ive never had a problem before sorry i'm not much help i just know that it worked great for me

Lil rahmer have you set up your ports in bitcomet or are you just using the defaults?
(allowing them through your router)

I have not changes the ports. I tried setting up a listening port miltiple times but It seems to be blocked no matter what. I am using default settings other than what this tut shows..

Tobad this doesn't work with vista, im downloading some LOST episodes and it takes ages :(

i don't see how software can effect your bandwith speed, because your rates are set by your ISP so how can software manipulate a set amount being sent to you before it even reaches your computer.

Yes your ISP does limit your speed, but usually you will not get your maximum download speed. This just helps you get closer.. Thanks for all of the feedback guys :)

on topic: too bad it doesnt work for vista :{, specially for when i go over my download limit and am restricted to 64kbs it might have helped just a little bit more

go grab yourself a download accelerator. the best one is Internet Download Manager

I recommend you not to install that patch. Its a little bug in it. when ever you right click the menu doesn't show up.
And its not going to make your speed from 500 to 5000 so… :p
