Ok this is great personally. If you are stuck on Windows but love the Linux terminal then this is for you. It will get you most all of the Unix commands to work with windows so you can be a command line junkie on windows as well as linux.

First install Cygwin. It's a program that puts a Bash shell on your computer. But we are going to take this one step further and embed it into the windows command prompt.

Open the start menu and right click My Computer and select properties. When the window comes up click the advanced tab then click Environment Variables at the bottom of the window.

In the second text pane scroll down till you see Path. Double click it and add a semicolon to the end of the variable value line if their isn't one already their and add in C:\cygwin\bin (if thats your cygwin directory, else do your cygwin directory that you installed to).

Now you should be able to use all your favorite Unix commands through the Windows command prompt.

alias sex "updatedb; locate; talk; date; cd; strip; look; touch; fsck; finger; unzip"

So would that actually be a legal command? :)
