SMART won't come up.

I've followed Wizzup's tut, I included smart before srl, added the SmartSetupEx with world 108 and the SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC); line. I have Revision 13. I've used scripts updated by the author. It's always the same, I run it once, it says it compiled correctly, nothing happens. I run it again, scar closes and nothing happens. I go to task manager and go to the process list and scar is still running just no window. No client ever opens. I read around other threads and someone said it's crashing because it's an invalid world. But it's not. I've tried using other worlds and the normal SmartSetup line with a dozen different prefixes from world.ini and it's the same thing. Any suggestions?

Wait a bit for it to load.

Maybe I am impatient. I'll try that. I knew it was going to be something really stupid that I was doing.

If that doesn't work, you may need to update your Java (1.6 atleast is required, as said in Wizzups? pdf tut)

Does it say anything like: "Loading World 1465432325……" in the Debug Log?

hm, i've tried everything suggested, and got nothing. I updated to version 6 update 4, waited 10 minutes, nothing in the debug log. guess I'm just destined to never use Smart :(

autoerforlife: Check add/remove programs in control panel (comes under java I think)
out2kill: No it doesn't
MasterOfStuff: Have you remembered to include the procedure that sets up smart in the main loop or added the smartsetup/ex to the main loop? - I know it seems obvious, but you never know

Edit: Are you using Vista? - There have been many problems with scar and Vista, so some may come back to SMART as well.

This might help…Add this into your script..

Add: {.include SRL/SRL/Misc/Smart.scar}

Above: {.include SRL/SRL.scar}

Then…
Add: SmartSetupEx(THE WORLD YOU WANT TO AUTO IN, False, False); {This loads the world you select using Low Detail and Unsigned Java.}

Above: "SetupSRL;" that can be found under a procedure like "Setup Script", or "SetMeUp" something like that.

And then…
Add: SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC); {This sets the SCAR bitmap for ALL color/bitmap/dtm finding to the smart bitmap.} //leave this alone

Finally the "SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC)" should be between "SetupSRL;" and "SmartSetupEx"

P.S. If you have any questions or problems with it P.M. me =]

When the script has been updated by the author, then they generally add the lines in correctly ;) Also, SetTargetDc should be after SmartSetup/Ex as otherwise it tries to find the SMART window but can't, so it means that it still does all the scar stuf onto the regular "screen".

If you reread what I posted It tells you to do that… "Finally the "SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC)" should be between "SetupSRL;" and "SmartSetupEx""

yeah mixster05's post will solve that problem and make sure you close all the other scars that are running before opening a new one after updating scar (in your task manager and look at processes) i had about 30 running before i noticed a change

From the way you worded it Out2kill, it sounded like you said to put it after SetupSRL but before SmartSetup/Ex.
On topic, as an after though, you didn't mention what version of Scar you are using and it may be that that is affecting it (for whatever reason) so should try Scar 12c/14 depending on which you have.
