Scar Based Chat Room by Moon 111

Yup, here it is the first scar based chat room! You can use it to ask for scar help, chat while writing you're scripts or just hanging out.
Since I just poped it out very quickly it doesn;t have too many features yet but I think it's okay for now.

Please post bugs and comments here.
Note: The host that I'm using is only temporary so check back in here if you get an error message saying something like "Host is down, go getcha'self the new script.".

By the way since you can't yet see if anyone is online wait for a second after sending message (and getting no reply) to check if someone is just not there for a second.

Thank you to all the people who have pointed out that I am not the first. However I still hope to be the best :D.

You can use replace:

Umm… it just asks permission to connect to the page and I feel not like Always Allowing, but anyway, it doesn't do anything between asking for connections?

And btw, you aren't the first. The_rs_monkey made a SCAR IRC client a while back ;)

I made this on a messed up comp with scar 2.03 so I didn't even KNOW I could use replace. I was looking in "F1" and couldn't find it.

By the way I think an unlimited number of people could connect however if it got to spammy, people could get their messages cut off. I'm not running it on a super-computer :D

Moon111, i need a lil help with a ChatBox-Form im making.. Im almost done!, the only problem is a http-error i get…

EDIT: Nope i dont need.. I made the form working GREAT! :D The only wrong is the "Whos on?" cus u dossent got any "Whos on?" on ur host… I just need someone to talk with me…

EDIT2: How do i write lines in a Scroll Box? Like "ChatBox.Caption := ChatBox.Caption + GetPage('http://www.hacohenwolf.com/chat1.php');" (in Labels, this is what i used…) ?

Hmmm I didn't know that could work. I thought that you wouldn't be able to get the new chat messages if a form is on the screen. Doesn't that stop everything else? Anyway I'm not very good with forms but if you get it running I suppose I'd use it.

By the way I should have "who's on" done in 12 hours (School :().

EDIT: I found out how to make text in scrollboxes, thanks to Ron! ;)
Now i only need someone to talk with me…

EDIT2: Now the messages from another sender comes up.. but not before i say something… hmm…

It looks nice - I actually started making a form based one, but got bored after I installed joomla onto the database and started playing with that. Very simple though, so that's always good ;)

Getting it to update can be an issue - you either have to make a refresh button that reloads all the text or have it in a loop that checks every x seconds (using mark time) but then you have to make it sure it ends the loop when the text submit button is pressed - it's just all very complicated to make it look good

Thank you. There have been some issuses when there are more then one (:D) or two people online. For some reason it doesn't update the online users so well so they sometimes get "logged out" while still online… Another less improtant issue is that it adds blank lines all round….

Once youre done with the form I'll update that instead of the text version. I'd also appreciate it if people really used it :D.

nice script, im on, but i'm the only one :p put the loop after you pop up the form. in the loop dp something like this:

either ur not on msn, so i cant help or u spelled it wrong, in which case add me :). But i dont see the big problem. Just make it update every 100 milliseconds and when u press enter check to see if there's anything in the typing part if there is then update if not then dont.

The 'big' problem is idk where to put my loop…
Cus, if i put 'WriteLn('After SafeShowFormModalR;'); right after 'SafeShowFormModalR;' then the message wont come.. but if i put the loop before the SafeShowFormModalR;, then it will never run…

No.. i didnt spelled the name wrong, cus i got you on my msn list :)

Edit: There is a loop in forms: "frmDesign.ShowModal;" script put after that will not run before u hit the X- button on the form…

Ex:

Ok.. I got the form to work, but it is a lil buggy…

Just hit run and type in username, then u can chat… If the 'Shat Box' Hangs itself, then u need to do Ctrl-Ælt-Delete and stop it from taking over ur computer (not seriously).

Edit: I think something is wrong with the host.. it laggs VERY much..

This could be a great advantage.
You would just need like different channels for different scripts..
Think about the possibilities…

OK sorry guys for not being around for a while. There seems to be an error: I keep getting Socket Error # 10054 Connection reset by peer.

I'll fix it soon… But this is awfull, I don't have SRL so I can't use the form based one. I'll try to make it good for anything… I'll sticky the form script on the main page in a bit. I hope some of you actually use it!!!

OK guys, I have made a descision: Since I really don't have time for SCAR anymore I think I'm going to give the "rights" of this to someone. I really can't do it. The person MUST HAVE php knowledge. I will give him the files etc. and he will maintain the whole thing. I know this is kinda stupid but I don't want this thing to get wiped out.

IRC doesn't make it obsolete, it just makes it less popular.

The thing is that i can never connect and it allways says http not found
