Stur Pure - SRL Member Application Form
Stur Pure

What is the meaning to life?
Why are you asking me? I am only a registered user… (now, that can be changed, and so can my answer XD :D XD :D XD)

Where you Referred to SRL? If yes, by whom?
yes
Toterache reffered me to this site. We both played RS, and somehow we just stumbled across cheating, and he told me of this site. (For which i am still very thankful :D)

Programming Knowledge
Nope, only Scar/srl

Other Communitys
N/A

How Long have You Played Runescape
For about 3 Years (3 Years of wasted Life :mad:)

Are you affilated in anyway with Jagex LTD?
No
—————————————————–
Please write down a paragraph about Yourself.

Oh gee, I just had to write a 15 page essay for school, and now I am supposed to write even more, oh well, if it can't be helped, here is some info about me:

- Well, as you can see on my longtitivity bar, but I consider myself a quick learnen (You can judge that how you want it, but I think my script prooves my point quite a bit (looking at what some other people wrote XD)). I have worked my way through all the beginner tuts, and all of the intermedian tuts, too.

- You might have read my thread introducing myself, there I said that I want to have a challenge, and I believe the is a member script section (correct me if I am wrong), and I believe that those scripts are much more advanced than all the others, and I want to learn from them and understand them, not use them, like I already said in my introduction Thread.

- Now, why do I want to be an srl member you might ask? Well, being a registered user is just a title to which everyone looks down to. You can't really help people the way I would like to help them, because they would first listen to the members, and then listen to the registered users. The same with tutorials, the tuts of members are more often read then those of normal users. (And another reason is I created myself a little Icon which I wanna use for my avater :D lol)

*ouch* well, i hope this is enough, cause my fingers are getting all cold now (you won't believe how cold the fingers get from typing all day :p).

Please Post a Sample of your Work. Only SCAR Scripts Accepted

Well, here is my super awsome DTMCreator helper, there is just no way you can deny my srl membership because of this one :D

{
The instructions are SIMPLE: start the program, and you can move your mouse
anywhere with the arrow keys! Depending on how long the "wait" is, the easier
you can get on the exact pixel, but the mouse will move slower.
How to use: With one Scar window, press "DTM Editor...", then open this one,
and press "Run Script". Now Move your mouse down to the start menue bar, and
click, but pushing down the left mouse button on your mouse. Then move up to
the part where you are deciding the point for the dtm. Now, you can move your
mouse pixel by pixel, and click on the ones you need. This is muxh simpler
than trying to move your mouse to a specific location, especially if you still
have an old wheel mouse. The Script will end when you press the "e" key.
}
program SturPuresDTMHelper;
{.include SRL/SRL.scar}
var
x,y,c: Integer;
begin
ActivateClient;
x := 0;
y := 0;
Repeat
If IsArrowDown(0) then
y := y - 1;
If IsArrowDown(2) then
y := y + 1;
If IsArrowDown(1) then
x := x + 1;
If IsArrowDown(3) then
x := x - 1;
MoveMouse(x,y);
wait(30);
c := c + 1;
Until IsKeyDown('e') or (c = 4000);
end.

Well, are ya all stumped because of the uber-godly script? XD XD XD XD
Well, I have had my fun :D :), here is the script I want to apply with, just forget the one I mentioned above :D :

{

-First of, I would like to thanks Toterache for lending me his character
with 81 Woodcutting, because I didn't have a character with high enough
Woodcutting (it was at 65, but that went so slow, that it took hours in
order to supervise a few loads), and for helping me with the cutting procedure.

-Next I wanted to thank all the people from who's tut I learned, some of them
are:

- JAD (For his error solving "Guide")
- WhoCares357 (For his awsome beginner's Guide)
- Method (For His Anti Random and Anti Bann Guide)
- Pancakes (For his FindObjCustom Guide)
- ZephyrsFury (For his MapWalking, now my favorite thing to do :D )

If I left anyone out who thinks should be one here, please let me know.

-Last, but probably most important: The Instructions!
In order to start this script, all players should be in the Lumbridge bank.
It doesn't have to be right in front of the booth, but it should be in that
little bank building, otherwise it might not find the ladder. Then just
make this window smaller, and drag the cross hair on the Runescape Screen.
After that you can press play. Once the signature is done, and the line:
"Lumbridge Gravard Chopper" appeared, you have to click on the runescape
screen, prefferably on something like the Inventory tab, so this screen
moves into the background. After that, I would stay around for a bit to
check if it is working correctly. After about 2 or 3 loads, you can leave
your PC and do something else. :D

ENJOY

BTW: This script might take two runs in order to bank, which means it might not find the Bank on the first shot, so that it returns to the tree, finds out that it has full inv again, runs back to bank, and tries again. Just let it perform that running back and forth, the chances are at 84% that it will find the bank in the next run, if it didn't find it in the first one. :)

EDIT: Please, for anyone who can't really decide, or has a reason like: My scripting isn't good enough, or I will just take the scripts and run if I get members and not contribute again, PLEASE check out page 3 of this thread, there I have two example parts of my new script, if you would take a look at that before voting, I'd be greatful. :)

Missing failsafes…(Big negative side)
Though script seems to be good…
Non-propely used multiplayer…
Also Radialwalk updates roadcolor itself

for multiplayer you could do something like this

begin
ScriptSetup;
repeat
PlayerSetup
repeat
Dostuff;
BankOrDrop
etc...whatever you script does
until (not loggedin) or (TimeOrLoadsAreDone)
Nextplayer(loggedin)
until false;
end.

And don't use Nextplayer middle of procedures…

Holding vote, learning towards yes…

Edit:
I'm not going to vote yes if you will not remove some of those red dancing smiles:p

Um, hate to disagree with you, but at least in rev #11, you need to get the colors before each one, otherwise it won't find it. My first script is a great eyample of that, if you edit out the Autocoloring, it won't work…
But thanks for leaning torwards "yes" :) (sorry that I forgot to post this :( )

I voted no. The multiplayer is bad, failsafes are on the minimal, you use dtms and bitmaps of spells where you could have used SRL Magic.scar, you use RadialWalk where you should be using RadialRoadWalk, you show minimal understanding over if thens, begins and ends, you have poor use of exits, you have an endless loop, bad standards, and I won't pick on the rest of it.

On the first program, you should be using 'GetMousePos(x, y)' instead of x:=0, y:=0, which is another demonstration that you don't understand variables..

Pure1993

2008-02-04 18:19:46

@ Jack:
I have to agree with you in two points: I am not good at multi players, because all my script so far are singleplayer, and priginally this was supposed to be a singeplayer script. As for the failsafes, I was not in the need for them since I built them in (murphy's law, if this expression means anything to you).
But in all the other points, I must disagree: I have no need for RadialRoadWalk, because mine works good enough, why fix something which isn't broke? As for bad standards: I have used the standards specified as "official standards", and from some of the comments I have heard on my first script and a few other procedures, my standards are excelent. If you disagree with my standards, then please, correct me. As for minimal understanding of variables: my understanding of variables is fine. Why Use get mouse pos? It won't do any major difference! And as I said, it was only a script which I created for personal use, and I only put it in here as a joke, not to be taken serious, I only used 3 minutes to create it. As for the endless loop: When all players are false, then nothing can happen, thus it would be like the script ending. Once you get back to the pc, you can just press "stop" manually.
As for the magic one: I had this in my original version, but for accidently got rid of it. it was supposed to be:
{.include srl/srl/skill/magic.scar}
and then it was supposed to be cast('home tele') but I am not sure I am allowed to edit my script after posting it. If I am, I will edit this.
Now, I repect your decision, but I don't agree with it. Splitting hairs just isn't my way of behaving, if by one way or another, the main objective is that it works, isn't it?

He meant exactly what he said. That pair of begin/end is useless. =/ I don't think he really knows what hes doing. The most advanced thing in here was FindObjCustom…He even put RoadColor := FindRoadColor after EVERY time it was used in at least one procedure, followed by FFlag(0)'s and waits…Theres at least 120 lines of useless code in it, not including the 33 lines at the beginning, and the signature…Actually FindObj is completely useless in his script…He continues to add endless loops of GoTos throughout if he doesn't find a Yew…calling a label 'BankFailSafe'…I don't know what thats about…

I don't know what ContinueBMP is…I'll have to draw that later…

@ Jack, I didn't know that the statement about bad standards included the

If not (logged in) then

nextplayer(false)
end;
Of course you are right, those are bad standards, but if you look through the other times I had an "if" and a "then", you will see that I left out "begin" and "end", if there was only one line of code. As I said, I just finished a 15 page essay, and you tend to make mistakes if you write an Autochopper, and a report over a 2 week internship all at once, also, as you might have noticed, I have not been on these forums for too long, and judging by that, you should have been able to tell how long I had for this script (well, obviously not more than a week, because that's how long I have been on here, but I actually created this entire script within 36 hours (not PC time, but the total time that has passed form start to finish) so there are bound to be a few mistakes concerning formalities :eek: ) As for the statement saying that I am not taking this membership app serious enough, I have only this to say: Life is a risk, you won't get out alive, so why not enjoy the time which is given to us? :confused:
(That was a mixed quote out of three other quotes :D )

Mixed feelings on the script… It doesn't take full advantage of all the SRL includes like it should.

1% longevity… That scares me more then the post count. I was at 5% when I applied and even I had a background check.

However I'm leaning towards a no… and this is by a small margin.

A background check may change my mind however.

Thanks a lot for your support (it came right when it was needed, i thought the tide would turn against me now :) )

@narcle (and all other people ingeneral):
I won't be mad or angry at you for voting "no". The reason for these applications is so that people can debate, discuss, and vote if someone should get accepted or not, and by publishing my application, I accepted to the "terms" that I might be denied. As for my longitivity and post count: I tried (or am trying) to learn SRL as fast as possible. The scipt is therefore… a little "below average acceptance" I would guess, for it was mainly a script I created to test out a few things, so it is improvised and not at all perfect. Now, I just started a script yesterday, which I plan to finish by the end of summer vacation, you can look up my blog of it in the "blogs and stories" division of this forum, there it lists all of what it is supposed to do (there it also explains why I set my likely finishing date at the very soonest end of summer vacation ;) ). Now, if anyone is having difficulties deciding, and would like to see how I am going about this one, you can send me a private message and I can send a sample of a part of the script which I have created up to that point.

Alright, your chioce, but your reasoning is wrong. I do not blame you for thinking that way, because no matter what I say or do, I can't make you believe me, and it is up to everyone for themselves to decide whether to believe me or not. BTW: Have you read my thread in the "who are you" sub-forum? I think it states my opinion pretty well.
The only thing you will achieve by denying me is that you will have to go through another application of mine which I will submit with the script I am working on atm, and that one will take a quite a while to read through, because it will be at least 6000 lines long. And it is getting comments like this one of mylesmadness which I will appear there stated somewhat like this: "Ha, I told you I wouldn't quit, now have fun reading through that enormous script :p". no offense but that is a pretty ignorant statement. Everyone started here with 0% longetivity and 0% activity. Just because he is a fast learner doesnt mean that he is going to automatically be a leecher, especially since he went through to get his scripting this far.

But hell, as people have been saying it is your choice and opinion. This just upsets me when people base their reason on things like that and end it. You could give him more feedback on improvements at the very least.

Just my 2 cents, I hope you get in Stur

Also, for those two weeks did you read the stickies on voting as well as watch the applications?

In your DeathandDeadendSolver I noticed that you use if(tries = 1) but you never have anything for if(tries = #) that isn't 1 so It would be better to just have Tries be a boolean in this case. FindBitmap(Spells,x,y) could just be GameTab. You also really don't need…

If FindColor(x,y,ladderColor,MMX1,MMY1,MMX2,MMY2) then
begin
Mouse(x,y,0,0,true);
wait(500);
Flag;

As a general thing, you use a lot more begins and ends than needed.

In EscapeFromRandomAtTree you really should put some sort of failsafe although it should be just fine. Couple useless RoadColor:= FindRoadColor.
Your responder will respond to itself, unless InChat filters out your text… which I don't think it does.

You don't need to have if(AnnoyingRandoms = true) you can remove the = true part.

Other than that nothing really spectacular or impressive my friend. You're coming along though so if you learn some advanced techniques and keep working at it you'll eventually get in.

EDIT: Edit I believe SRL Members is mostly about scripting talent. Although I enjoy doing a little background check on applicants every once in a while if I haven't seen them before, but from what (little) I found of Stur he's seems good, although I think his scripting needs a lot of work.

I'll enjoy reading those 6000 + lines ;)

Thanks for your tips on improving the script, but I am afriad I will never need them for this one, because now I personally think of it as bad (The "now" is emphasised because the new script is already way more advanced, I i don't think I could edit this lumbygraveyardchopper so that it would be a good script, the only thing I could do is do a re-write, but that won't be worth it once I am done with this new script, it will even have a multiplayer form :D), but I will be sure to keep it in mind for the one I am currently creating. :)

Well, the first reason can't be dealt with through honesty, but the second one, can be dealt with, just by posting a sample of the script which I am creating. Now, these are parts of the fishing procedures, and I did not correct them for errors or check if it could work like that. These are only rough layouts of what it is supposed to look like once I get around to finishing that one up:

Please do not tell me what I need to improve, or criticise these parts. They are not ready to withstand critisisim yet. having more yeses then noes doesn't mean your in. I was 10 yes 6 nos and I got declined.

Well, then why all this voting stuff?

MylesMadness

2008-02-08 15:56:08

Ok I should have worded that definitely. 51%+ does not mean in more like 70%+

Pure1993

2008-02-08 16:09:49

Alright, so If 25 people would please vote "yes", then we got that 70% (well, actually we will still be off by half a percent, but that won't matter too awefully much I hope :D)

(Okay, one of my four idols has voted yes, now I only need to get Jad, ZephyrsFury and WT-Fakawi to vote yes, then Life is perfect :D)

I voted yes before I saw that :p :)

Come on guys, this guy can script better than some srl members. He's definitely worthy of getting in. Don't vote no just because you think it will make you less important because there's more srl members (a lot of people do that, even unconsciously.)

Anyways, definite yes from me. Good job, good luck, and keep up the good work! :)

Woohoo!!!!!!!!! Unbelieveable! Even if I won't get to be a member, it was already worth the effort to put this app up here!!! I mean like OMG, it's like JAD, like OMG!! :spot:
…
Okay, brain's back to normal again. :D Thanks a lot for voting yes, it was getting really close for the "no"s to take the upper hand. :eek:

@Negaal: Thanks for your suggestion, but I have to admit my one weakness: I am not good at using mutli-player efficiently :duh: . I'll have to read up on it. While I am learning, I always use simpler and more final things, so in this case I used terminate script, which I will substitute with the nextplayer(false) once I know how to use it the way it should be used. :)

EDIT: WOOT! first red sctivity point, and the lesser demon title! Wooot! :D

{.include srl/srl/skill/magic.scar}
and then it was supposed to be cast('home tele') but I am not sure I am allowed to edit my script after posting it. If I am, I will edit this.
Now, I repect your decision, but I don't agree with it. Splitting hairs just isn't my way of behaving, if by one way or another, the main objective is that it works, isn't it?

I <3 you just for that :)
Looked through the script and around for your attitude, was satisfied. Yes.

edit: this ends tomorrow, sometimes people with more no's than yes' get in, just like myles had more yes' than no's and still got rejected. So good luck!

C'mon guys.. You need new blood in the members section, you need fresh input and enthusiasm….

Some of your comments appear to be based on nothing more than jealousy or elitist snobery..

O.K. the script ain't the best there is and he hasn't been around for ever, but for a first effort it's pretty good..

You obviously haven't read any of the stickies. It's required that you hang around and watch what other members vote based on for a few weeks before you start voting.

@ Rasta Magician: Thanks a lot for your encouraging words, and for voting "yes" :)

@Santa_Clause: oh come on, a newby knows best how a newby feels, don't criticise him on his positive attitude torwards change ;). Usually I take it quite seriously with rules, but seriously, having a positive attitute torwards things, even if those things aren't entirely understood (this is by no means meant offensive), is something that should be encouraged. :)

Wow, cool! It's at 14:14, there might still be a chance. :D

I fully read the sticky titled Read Before Voting it says nothing about how long to wait before voting.

I did not read Questions about voting as I had none because I had fully read and understood Read Before Voting.

I have now read questions about voting and feel that under the spirit of things I am still within the guidelines as before I voted I read many of the previous applications to get a feel as to how people were voting.

If I have offended you or anyone else for voting I truly am sorry and will not vote again.. It just goes to back up my previous comment..

I would also like to say, it's fairly obvious that many of you have not read the stickies..
Just to refresh your memory:

1. Only vote "no" if you have proof the person is a spammer, liar, or overall bad guy.
2. Be open to different outlooks on people.
3.You are not required to vote, and should not vote just to vote.
4.Just because someone is not well known or not from kaitnieks does not mean they can't contribute!
5.If you've gotten this far, good job. Now read "Common Sense"

Also
Remember: In the applications we are looking for the following types of people:
People with good attitudes
People who are willing to contribute
People scripting with the SRL include
People following SRL guidelines - Multiplayers, breaking out of potential infinite loops, Antirandoms, Antiban, good scripting standards etc.

Under what section of these rules do Stur Pure or stampede10343 call for a no vote? None as far as I can see, yet plenty have voted no.. It's also telling that most of the no voters don't comment.

Apparently it can corrupt if people only think they have it too :duh:

I voted yes, my main reason was simply to counter the 3 or so noes that you got from egotistical elitistful people =\. But regardless, your script looks nice. There's a few random bugs in there but what's a script without bugs?

Also, people should remember that everyone's standards are different, and what looks very neat and organized to one person could look hideous and über-messy to someone else (look at mine and SKy's standards :P).

I hope you get in :)

The "tie breaker" is ultimately one of the admins decisions. So we'll see what happens when that time comes…

Also on a side note… this is the most posts I've seen in a "app" lol

advice, not rule. any srl member can vote at any time, but we encourage the newer ones to wait for a while so that they get the feeling of it. i started voting 3 days after it, I had fundament for my votes and i read about 3 pages of apps before voting. no one ever told me off. you are also one of the newest members, so why are you bossing around? >.>

PriSoner, i agree with your vote, n i believe that you read previous apps, i suggest that when reading previous apps you look for the ones where the score is nearly tied, like 10-8 or 10-12, from those is where you'll learn the most, because you'll see many reasons to say no or to say yes. Also when voting yes we require a "certain level" of skill, originality, and good attitude. But you'll get the hang of that from other apps. Develop your own standards of voting, don't just follow the wave.

I myself don't feel like stating the obvious over and over for a free postcount++ and because it's annoying too. If someone has already posted the same reasons that I have for voting no, why I should I post the same things over and over? I don't think it benefits the applicant to hear the same constructive or not criticism(sp) over and over…

Also…

So you're saying pretty good for a first effort is good enough for SRL membership? And also, do you mean that people vote no just because they don't want new people or something? Do you vote yes just because the person is new then?

Yes, you're new, you're a good scripter but not all new people are ;)

That makes me feel a lot better, so I am just pretending to see the vote 13 to 17 now. Like a wise old man once said: seeing the error in one's ways is the first step to improvement, and a neccessary one. :) (You know what is funny? Most of the time when one of those quotes is used, people tend to just say: "Like a wise old man once said" instead of looking up who actually came up with it. :D)

EDIT: Does anyone know when the final decision is gonna happen? I'm getting a bit jumpy. :D :p

@Stur Pure
I've decided not to vote. As when its to close like this the end decision is a admins not mine. Plus in this case I (no offense) don't care if you get in or not at this point, so I've refrained myself from various votings such as this one. When its a toss up on my decision of a Yes or No (50 50) I don't vote and let the others decide.

Pure1993

2008-02-11 11:50:59

@Narcle: No offence taken, I probably ouldn't vote If I were you either. This way you can't be blamed if I don't get in, and the SRL board needs to wait a bit longer for my real scripting abilities to unfold which will profit everyone (of course most don't think I am capable of that, but they'll se :D), but if I got in, and as a few people said: "take everything and run", then you can't be blamed for helping me get in. Smart choice ;) (at least from your point of view)
