SRL Archive - S.M.A.R.T. General News

S.M.A.R.T. is a RuneScape automating tool specially designed for SCAR.
It allows the user to macro off-screen, either minimized or just by overlapping the screen.
S.M.A.R.T is an unmodified RuneScape client, all it does is load the RuneScape main applet on it's own form, allowing it to perform mouse and keyboard actions, and passing the client-screen bitmap to SCAR. It uses it's own embedded mouse, thus freeing your own mouse while automating RuneScape!





To make using S.M.A.R.T. possible without too much script editing hassle, S.M.A.R.T. temporarily (during your macro session) overwrites SCAR's core functions, they include:

• MoveMouse()
• HoldMouse()
• ReleaseMouse()
• KeyUp()
• KeyDown()
• SendKeys()
• GetMousePos()

Other functions in S.M.A.R.T.

• SmartSetup()
• SmartGetDC

Installing S.M.A.R.T.

The SRL Revisions (#12 and up) automatically include Embedded Smart.dll & Smart.scar.
If you are using the SRL Subversion, you can skip this part. It contains a lot of usefull information, and I do recommend you read it.

It is also possible to download these at the official S.M.A.R.T thread at the SRL-Forums.


Embedded Smart.dll is a SCAR-Plugin, it contains all the core S.M.A.R.T. functions.
Which means you will need to copy it to SCAR/Plugins/*here*. After you have copied the plugin, restart SCAR.

Smart.scar is a SCAR include, it overwrites SCAR core functions with S.M.A.R.T.'s core functions, which makes it a lot easier to use S.M.A.R.T. in SCAR.
Smart.scar should be placed in SCAR/Includes/SRL/SRL/Misc/*here*





The first thing you want to do when running a script with S.M.A.R.T. is including Smart.scar.

You should always include Smart.scar before you include anything else, even before SRL.scar!

Program MyScript;

{.include SRL/SRL/Misc/Smart.scar}

begin
end.

Now, you have access to all the functions you need to macro with S.M.A.R.T.
S.M.A.R.T. can be started by calling SmartSetup(server: string; hiDetail: Boolean; signed: Boolean);

Now, you want SCAR to be able to use the S.M.A.R.T. bitmap.
This is where we use SmartGetDC: Longint;

  SmartSetup('ams3', False, False); {This loads a world with the prefix ams3 using Low Detail and Unsigned Java.}
  SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC);   {This sets the SCAR bitmap for ALL color/bitmap/dtm finding to the smart bitmap.}

That is the actual setup part. After this part you can call everything you normally call, SetupSRL, SetupScript, LoadBitmaps, DeclarePlayers, etc…
There is also an Procedure called SmartSetupEx(WorldNum: Integer; hiDetail: Boolean; Signed: Boolean);
This procedure allows you to put in a World Number instead of a world prefix.
SmartSetupEx(51, False, False); will do the same as SmartSetup('ams3', False, False);

Program MyScript;

  SmartSetup('ams3', False, False); {This loads a world with the prefix ams3 using Low Detail and Unsigned Java.}

After running MyScript; you should see something like this:


Notes:

• The world prefixes can be taken from SRL/SCSS/Worlds.ini. (Replace 'ams3' with an other prefix.)
• Smartzkid has made a slightly different Smart.scar, which contains SmartSetupEx.
This procedure allows you to fill in a world number instead of a prefix.
• The “Stop Blocking” button is a very powerfull feature of S.M.A.R.T.
If S.M.A.R.T. is 'blocking' it blocks you from typing anything in it, aswell as blocking any mouse actions from your own 'windows' mouse. If S.M.A.R.T. is not blocking, you can use the client like a normal RuneScape client, you can click and type with your mouse/keyboard.
• You might want to pause SCAR while Smart is loading RuneScape.

What does S.M.A.R.T. stand for?
S.M.A.R.T. stands for SCAR Minimizing Autoing Resource Thing.

Who made S.M.A.R.T. ?

S.M.A.R.T. is created by BenLand100.

Do I need a certain java version to get S.M.A.R.T. to work fully functional?

You need Java 1.6 or higher for S.M.A.R.T. to work.
You can get it here.

SCAR Popups with the following error: “msvcr71.dll can not be found.”

*Although this error should no longer exist, I still added a solution in the small tutorial.

“msvcr71.dll is a module containing standard C library functions such as printf, memcpy, and cos. It is a part of the Microsoft C Runtime Library.”

The solution is simple. Download msvcr71.dll and copy it into your System Disk/WINDOWS/system32/*here*

S.M.A.R.T closes when I start a script.

This happens when you don't call SmartSetup in your script. You should always call SmartSetup, even if the S.M.A.R.T. client is already loaded. If the smart client is already loaded, it will not reload the S.M.A.R.T. client.

Colorfinding does not work properly when S.M.A.R.T. is minimized.

Make sure you have called SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC);


Is S.M.A.R.T detectable?

No. S.M.A.R.T. is not detectable. It does not modify the JageX RuneScape applet.

All Find Color/Bitmap/DTM/OCR should work. As long as you call SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC); at the script startup.

well, i though LoggedIn; didn't work, but i was wrong, i forgot to press the "Start Blocking" button again, so it was looking in the wrong place.
sometimes when i run it though, it closes the SMART and SCAR windows, and it doesn't give me an error or ask me if i want to save the script

IsTextInAreaEx, GetTextAtEx, CreateBitmapFromText, etc.

OCR = Optical Character Recognition - GetTextAtEx etc.

SendText(#13);, i keep having to stop blocking, (my entire keyboard won't work at this point, but strangely the mouse does) then start blocking again, the stop blocking again, then i can manually press enter

It's Chr(10) or #10 for SMART ;)
Btw, if you're using SendKeysVB it wont work. Just use SendKeys or TypeSend.

Either it's a bug or it's just me but even when you 'Stop Blocking' your keyboard still doesn't work (you can't type or use arrows to move screen), only the mouse works.

If you're running a script it works fine though :) Very nice thing.

Is there any way to run multiple character at once (dw I'm not trying to rape rs)? Or would you have to download multiple Scars to do that?

You have to include Smart.scar first, like I mentioned in my small tutorial.

This should be…interesting…to watch.

I think SRL will be better for it, though, just gotta have patience.


For all those new to SMART, keep in mind that there are a number of known bugs that do some pretty weird stuff and cause some pretty weird errors. You get used to 'em :D

For all scripters just exposed to SMART, keep in mind that there are a number of more advanced SMART functions (bitmap/colorfinding, etc); they should be much faster than SCAR's, albeit, possibly buggier, as they haven't been tested much.

Try using a different world prefix, if that's wrong, it will crash.

EDIT: Note, you can use SmartSetupEx and put in worldnumbers instead of having too look up prefixes.

I think this is a great update and Thank you so much Benland, but why are so many srl members so upset? Now that armies are taken away from rs then why do so many people care about a minimizable scar? It is great if you just want to be able to use your comp while you auto and stuff like that, but it truly is not an advantage to anybody here. I also wanted to say that I think it should be only allowed to the people that can incorporate it into any given script themselves, meaning that nobody should update their script using s.m.a.r.t and just let everyone figure out how to include it on their own (only takes copy + pasting) This way it will force people to read about it on their own, and understand what they are doing. But thats just my thoughts on it.

this thing is absolutely amazing! I think I'm going to learn scar just cause of this :D

^ alot of srl mebers are pist because this is been srl mems only for a few months now. alot of people think now jagex will target us more, more leechers, plus it takes away a member only feature.

yep. depending on ur comp it lags a lil but its minimzble scar

Alright i got SMART running with the Guild miner script but runescape loads in SMART but doesnt do anything else besides load. Its doesnt log in or anything.

Change the prefixes for what world you want to log into :D

I have the same problem. I tried with SmartSetupEx and SmartSetup and it just disappears and no client comes up. I setup smart.scar before srl as well.
I'll try a few other scripts with this.

Open up SRL.scar and change this line:

 SmartSetup('ams3', false, false);

To This:

SmartSetup('ams3', false, true);

First boolean is whether Hi-Detail or not, second is whether Signed or Unsigned :D

I just open up multiple Scars (not tabs, seperate windows), put the scripts on (make them SMART compatible if creator hasn't done so yet), and viola, multiple SMARTs. Too bad my computer has trouble running 2 at a time, I suppose I'll just use one for now :p

How do we install it now cause when i update my revision to 13# And trying to run A script That uses Smart to he says : Include file C:\Program Files\SCAR 3.14\includes\SRL\SRL\Misc\Smart.scar does not exist.

Why don't you read the tutorial? You have to include smart.scar before any other include…

means, One smart program, and another Scar program doing something different, or is it more* more likely to get banned*, as there is 2 accs with same ip logged on

If you have two(or more) different browsers(InternetExplorer,Firefox, Opera) then use the built-in proxy on each of them.
It's usually in the Internet Options and LAN Settings.

Oh ok than thanks well I read that SCAR is completly legal so if S.M.A.R.T. is the same than woot! Also I don't get how you set it up. Please post a guide for the complete noob (Like me!)(wait not like me I know how now :D).

To set it up (basically) all you have to do is add 3 lines of code:

{.include SRL/SRL/Misc/smart.scar}

just before the {.include SRL/SRL.scar}
and

  SmartSetup('ams3',False,False); // or SmartSetupEx(50,False,False); 
  SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC);

in the setup of the script (before it does DeclarePlayer's is where I normally put it).
Please try and check out the tutorials a bit better, because Wizzup?'s especially made it clear how easy it is to add and will very quickly become as second nature as adding the srl include line.

This happens when you don't call SmartSetup in your script. You should always call SmartSetup, even if the S.M.A.R.T. client is already loaded. If the smart client is already loaded, it will not reload the S.M.A.R.T. client.

Otherwise, you may need to update your Java version if adding SmartSetup doesn't fix it.

All you have to do is add 3 lines - scroll up the page for my last post and you can see the 3 lines to add. Please try reading in the future. You have to edit the script you're going to run with SMART.

problem : when i just run an auto fletcher it will open smart and start clicking…but nothing happens :O

If you want to use a world number, then use 'SmartSetupEx(Worldnumber,False,False);'.
Have you put anything else in the script? Because if you only have SmartSetup in the script, then that will be all it does.
Lastly, please edit your posts rather than double-posting in the future.

Altec - It's a pop-up RS client that has its 'own' mouse, so like silent mouse without the instant ban.

Connex and Derrick - try re-installing your SRL as it may be that the plugin wasn't downloaded properly. Otherwise, timer posted a link in another topic to a download that had his (working) plugin file that you could use instead of your current (if you don't want to re-install SRL)

Lol, that is like saying SCAR macroing is against the law.

It isn't against the law, but it is against JaGeX's 'macroing laws'.

SMART is actually less 'illegal' than Scar, as it all is is a pop-up RS, which does still include the adverts so wouldn't be breaking the free-RS adverts thingy, and doesn't alter the running of the game.

Wonly - Try updating your java as it maybe that it is not a high enough version (Definately 1.6, not sure what update).

Also, maybe someone could add a 'Please post in the Q&A section rather than this thread' to the first post/title as it seems that most of the pages are full of people getting errors (even worse is that they're common errors that have already been solved in this topic atleast 3 times).

You mean you don't have SMART, as if you didn't have scar, you couldn't have SRL ;) Have you made sure you moved your plguins and have you checked your scar core folder/inlcudes/srl/srl/misc for smart.scar? As if it's there, then you have SMART, but just haven't initiated it in your script, thus it doesn't pop-up.

This is awsome! I was going to quick SCAR because i could do anything else while running scar. But this, this is asome. Thanks for keeping me using SCAr, even though u might not even know it.

I have absolutely no idea how to download the latest revison of SRL 4. I have downloaded and installed Subversion, but it does not allow me to click the Subversion Repository box on SCAR3.14 -> Tools -> Options -> SRL download.

I also have tried downloading SRL manually by clicking File -> SRL Download, but it only downloads SRL 4 revision 11, not the new one with SMART.

Help, please?

No you only put

In the script after the Program.

Actually that error is caused by something else. I would most likely say SRL isn't installed correctly or you're missing a plugin/haven't moved your plguins.

Sometimes keyboard stops working, so i cant type anything to the smart window:(

Just unblock it, minimize and maximize it and it should work. Otherwise just mash the unblock/block button for a few hours and it you should be able to type.

heres what i do, i started doing it a few days ago and it hasnt failed me since;

unblock smart
try to type, if it works your good
smash the block/unblock for maybe 2 seconds
then click on the rs client, for example click something random in your inv
i'm positive itll work

i have a script that has smart in it, so i typed in "true" for used smart and it opened smart, then i had to restart the script, drag the crosshair over the smart window, then start the script again, but it closed the smart window. i know im supposed to read Q&A and i did but i dont understand what it says. the script has all that setup stuff in it i think, its a fletching script

You don't have to set the cross-hair for SMART it "automatically does that for you" using 'SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC)' which tells it to perform everything onto the SMART client.

still doesnt work. it opens up smart, i fill out the form, press start, then it does nothing. it works with regular clients tho, like firefox.

I don't know how to help but a way of putting what he is trying to say is that after there is an update, it always takes a long time to load. I think he is saying it does that every time.

I haven't been on here and haven't been on RS for like six months but I might try this out a little and see what happens.

I might have found a small bug when I was trying to log in. I have a space in my RS user name, so in my scripts form I have it as an underscore (not to sure why, but I do) and when it tried to type it into SMART it wouldn't add the space.

Simple fix, remove the underscore and add a space, but maybe this will matter somewhere else? Just throwing this out. FYI, this doesn't happen on a browser and I'm using Narcle's fighter.

Aside from that minor thing; Wow, this is leaving me speechless.

Used a spinning script that had SMART in it, worked perfectly. Cheers for this nice piece of scripting!

Yes, it is almost flawless. It would take great work to make this flawless without RS discovering ways around some of the basic commands.

SMART is definetly a excellent addition to SCAR botting. We just need a find a way to make it so that it wont suck up so much of the computer's resources, or simply get sufficient computers. All in good time, computers are getting cheaper and stronger. Think 10-15years ago we thought 1 Terabyte was HUGE; but now, you can get it for 79.99 at BestBuy and is compatable with all desktop and laptop computers.

There shouldn't be any "MoveMouse" because that is outdated material. So try using a new script and don't grave dig.

After all i read in all post and thread it seems like S.M.A.R.T hasn't been up for very long time. But it still seems like a really great thing.

where can i get the S.M.A.R.T dll there is nothing to do with S.M.A.R.T in my plugins folder or my includes one,

Sounds like a quick and understandable script..

The SRL Revisions (#12 and up) automatically include Embedded Smart.dll & Smart.scar.
If you are using the SRL Subversion, you can skip this part. It contains a lot of usefull information, and I do recommend you read it.

It is also possible to download these at the official S.M.A.R.T thread at the SRL-Forums.

hey im new and i don't know how to use it i have downloaded scripts and when i run em smart opens up and changes to low detail and edits settings, etc but when it gets to the login screen it doesn't log me on. im guessing i have to program it to do that & program the colors so how do i do that?

I know this is completely off topic, but I just wanted to throw this out there.

Wouldn't it be more professional to call it : Scar Minimizing Auto Resource Technology?

I just feel that such an elaborate program deserves a more sophisticated name. Unless, smart auto resource "thing" was named like that for a reason. But any who. Just my two cents :)

This needs to be updated, as you only need to include smart.scar to load it, since it now loads in setupsrl

when iload oldschool smatr it loads eoc smart…
