The KYAB Issue..

Hugolord

2008-02-03 08:45:10

http://www.kyab.asssoft.org/smf/index.php why not give it a try?

Raymond has very kindly allowed me to post a "KYAB" thread once again and he assured me It wouldn't be deleted/locked..

KYAB as always been a relatively small/inactive site I won't go against that..

Why you ask?

Well in my opinion people follow others, there were a few incidents in the past that completely damaged the whole idea of accepting KYAB..

While Ben was still Admin at KYAB people still tried it out and tested it..

But when he left he took the site's trust with it due to some incidents that happened in the past (of which I will not elaborate further). The last major blow was the new trading system update, it had a small effects on SRL since SRL is a huge forums with many users but little old KYAB with only a handful of users dropped even lower to around 10 users a day (at best).

I ask you now, one last time, why not give it a shot?

Admins, mods and whatnot why not give KYAB another shot, Solar is obviously in it to try to make Scar and whole concept of cheating a better thing, further more, he is trying to teach people that sometimes we need to invest on new ways of programming (in this case) and actually making use of our full knowledge, because life is short and we need to take as much from it as we can (not that programming resembles life in any particular way  ).

Can we not just forget about the past and look at the future for once? cmon guys KYAB is slowly dying and its hurts to watch (no really it does).

For those of you that are thinking "Why would I need this I don't even auto!". well, the fact is we use Java as a way to get animation, tile location, and movement from the runescape screen, this may seem detectable but on the contrary it is not at all.

When you visit the site, you may come across some weird topics that have nothing to do with KYAB but this is because like I said, we are dying, and we need your help.

I dream of a day when SRL an KYAB users may unite, after all we are all cheaters..

What is KYAB?What is KYAB?What is KYAB?

http://www.kyab.asssoft.org/smf/index.php why not give it a try?

please don't start a flame/rant/spam war pretty please… sorry for the mistakes this post..

Maybe you should ask permission to post at an admin next time.

I personally see this as advertising, but you posted it in the 'right' (misc programs) forum, so I'm fine with this thread as long as you can keep the flaming away from this thread.

Well I don't know..

Raymond is a mod, maybe you guys should state on the rules that you NEED to ask admins before posting a link to a website..

and I just checked the rules and it doesn't say you can't advertise?

I am not here to argue with you.
Seeing KYAB topics always have the tendancy to go in the wrong direction on SRL, it would have been better to get permission from an administrator. :)

anyone else got any other ideas/ questions etc?

It is because SRL see KYAB as something that wrecks all their hard work.

The reason I don't like to use KYAB is because I need a challenge… it's just too easy. I mostly just script for something to do. With KYAB, there's just absolutely no challenge.

People are still using srl, even with the trading update. It's not really been going down hill here because of the updates. There are still people trying to learn to script…etc.

What we're doing right now is working for us, and I see no reason to "give another chance" to an immature….. person like solarwind :)

Most people don't even care about us not being able to run scripts for too long because we can't transfer money from our bots… It's always been for the challenge (except for the leechers, it's about the gold) for us, and it always will be. IMO, we shouldn't start using the easy way because that only would please the leechers, and bore to death and maybe drive away (some) of the good scripters who like to script for the challenge.

IMHO, KYAB is not needed or wanted here.

Hugolord

2008-02-03 12:33:21

Why does KYAb make it easy?

You do realize that KYAB is a way to take care of the most important parts of a common script and then with that you could focus on more important parts of your script.. don't you understand that?

ok then thinking your way, "OMG RRW is too easy I'm going to do it the hard way!"

see?

RRW is also a way to make it easier to script, KYAB is no different, in fact, KYAB has it's challenges: Making the autoupdater, getting past Jagex efforts to stop us grabbing client info etc..

do you guys not see that KYAB isn't at all easier to script than any other script?

If we started using it more of us would learn java and hell we could even write more advanced scripts than the same old RRW etc…

I would appreciate if IceFire didn't post on my thread since I don't want a flame war. (please just don't post here pm if you must but don't post here Ice)

I have to disagree with you.
I have tried some reflection with SCAR.
I made a Law crafter, Air Crafter and Nature crafter, all flawless, and the walking part required no skill whatsoever, only the actual writing of WalkPath took some time, but once that is in an include, it takes no effort to make good walking.

Making the autoupdater is not what all the scripters do, it is what one of the scripts does for the rest. So you cannot see that as a challenge.

The challenge is to take more time on other parts of your script while you can be sure the walking is 100% right, also hell, you could have RRW + DDTMs and KYABs tile walking all as backups?

Think about it for a bit would it be all that bad to use it and then to focus on other parts of your script?

JAD

2008-02-03 13:06:39

And RRW doesn't make walking easier really… Because that's not all we use. In many cases, we still need to use DDTM's and other stuff to make our scripts more reliable.

Hehe IceFire when did I need Solars permission to talk about his site?

and for the name calling "your own stupidity." doesn't sound too pleasing to me..

Can you just not post here IceFire one last time I ask you not to please..

If you do then you will just make the admins lock this and I will be forced to make a new thread and get banned for this ( I don't really care, I thought SRL was more mature than this).

There is nothing to be on topic about, this is for us to give KYAB a second chance. Quite frankly it does not deserve a second chance, at least yet anyways. Nothing has changed at all, why don't they come back when they fix their program? Because at the moment there are already 2 other threads and a sticky in just this section of the forum.

It makes scripting more efficient. No offense but Scar scripts fail easily, walking screws up big time a lot.

With KYAB you can still make custom fast methods and challenge yourself, but even good scripters's scripts that I use suck with walking.

Exactly, all you care about is your RS-GeePeez.

If you're a good enough scripter you can make your script work just fine, other wise just reverting to taking the easier way just because it works better if you have no idea how to script correctly than your only reward is "pixel gold" but if you take the time to make something that works because of clever design then you will get an intellectual achievement and a better feeling of accomplishment as opposed to writing down some numbers from GetLocation or a path finder.

Your definition of on topic is where everyone either doesn't post or agrees almost exactly with what you say, same as your definition of maturity.

I have responded to Wizzup?'s comment and he has not responded back, if anything you are the one trying to push a fight on me and go off topic when infact I'm trying to discuss with you the purpose and point of this thread when all you want to talk about is how I'm upsetting you.

My question: why are we fighting? What is there to fight about? That is not the spirit of SRL or KYAB. This thread is intended to raise awareness of a simple and fun to use bot. No one is forcing anyone to use it.

Nor is this thread intended for advertising purposes. KYAB and all KYAB-related products are fully open source. Our forum is 100% ad-free. I don't want money. I don't want fame. None of us at KYAB do. We want to teach and help people learn SCAR and Java (mainly). I don't understand why so much tension must formulate out of a simple raise-awareness style thread. Are we committing a crime? No. KYAB is perfectly legal. All our acts are.

There are two extremist sides to this issue. One saying that KYAB is the best thing that happened to SCAR and that there should be KYAB implemented into everything because it is that awesome. On the opposite side there are those who say that KYAB is merely taking away the challenge for real scripters…

I find myself torn between the two.

I do agree that KYAB definitely takes the challenge away when the main purpose of a script is walking. However, there are scripts whose main purpose is not to walk and bank. For example my Power Minotaur script is designed to kill minotaurs until out of food, then it will walk out of the stronghold and bank in varrock/walk back.

I am not quite sure how one would go about RRW 'ing , DDTM'ing, or Symbol clicking there, but all I know is that it would be hell to script that. Not to mention it would probably be really unreliable. I dont want to waste my time writing walking procedures for a FIGHTING script when the purpose of the walking is to merely boost the performance of the script and to make the actions more human.

KYAB is not just about the walking. The GetAnimation is a great tool to aid in almost any script. Knowing the moment that your player isnt mining or fighting gives the script that extra human-like sparkle to it that pure SCAR cant quite capture.

I understand when people say that it will result in lazy scripting and people wont be able to script as well when they rely on it too much. I agree with that, but you have to see its usefulness. I dont understand why people have a hatred for a great asset to scripting. If you dont want to use it then that is your business…keep on writing great scripts and inspiring people to write great pure scar scripts…

I dont agree with the shunning of KYAB, especially when it is a very effective and useful tool. I think people should give KYAB another chance instead of immediately saying that it is bad.

I, myself am also in the middle. I'm not saying KYAB is the best thing since Linux 2.6, but I'm also not saying it sucks. It's yet another tool to help us accomplish our common task - cheating in RS.

Precisely!
KYAB is not a MUST you may choose to and not to use it in your script.
Hardcore advanced scripters will probably not use it but even then there are some scripts that cannot be made with Scar without the help of KYAB, or it would take a very long time to write it..
It is an option and it will drastically increase our human-like procedures hell, it would enable us to solve the so called "Un-solvable randoms" if we wanted to!
Randoms are one of the biggest triggers of autoing when we log out and don't do them I think jagex may get somewhat suspicious think about it would be a great tool and not at all necessary only if one choose to use it!

Gerauchert, I respect your experience and open mindedness you have portrayed in the text above. But what you need to understand is these people are not here to unite SRL and KYAB at all, they are here to advertise their forums (even though there is already a huge sticky in this section called "KYAB") so they might get some people to over to their forums because they are dying, fast, I'm talking 4-8 people online in a 24 hour period with rarely anything productive being accomplished.

You may ask what separates me from others who disagree with ideas of KYAB. I will tell you, I have personally atleast tried KYAB and given it a chance so I could make my own intellectual decision about whether or not I think it's something I or (us) for that matter should be used. I have witnessed more ignorance and immaturity on any other forum I have ever been on at KYAB.

Aside from all of this, I stayed with it for longer than most people did. After the first 5 days of KYAB splitting from SRL, the choas began when runescape updated June 26th 2007 and rendered KYAB as about as useful as a tool for a someone with out enough knowledge to create a fair script to make something that could actually work without learning anything new, but before that it was a revolutionary way to optimize everything you could do. I am afraid that KYAB that you think about is long gone along with its co-founder BenLand100.

You say that there is a "shunning of KYAB' by SRL, and I will agree with you, but at this point it turns out that it was for the best, the only thing I wish could of been different was that if more people had actually tried KYAB rather than rejecting it right away. However from what this has turned into, that shunning became a lucky guess.

But back on topic, there is no longer (or ever was) any point to this thread being posted here. It has been said before, I will say it again. KYAB is not wanted or needed here.

anyway..

I agree completely with gerauchert, like I said, what is so bad about us having a choice and making our scripts more human-like?

Fakawi once told on msn after I had a very serious discussing with him "Don't worry about it, we're all just cheaters"

Think about these wise words.. before I read them I was furious (with the topic we were discussing) yet after I read it I let go of my anger.. I realised we are all cheaters here, whether we like or not so why not unite?

We would give a choice for users and the more advanced scripters could use KYAB to their advantage to produce things like "un-solvable random" solvers, yes it is possible with scar but can anyone do it so far?can our greatest scripters truly solve all the randoms with scar? I think it would be very difficult, it would still be difficult with KYAB but more likely to happen.
The old computers used punch-cards (or w.e they were called) yet they developed more efficient ways of working with a computer, even tho it took away the challenge, there will always be negative sides to improvements..
but this is a choice that we could give users.. and an opportunity to become more efficient at that.
So why not look at the way KYAB could benefit all of us?

As i haven't been on these boards for long i had to ask some peeps on msn about the KYAB issue, cause i didn't even know there was one. Anyways, after reading this thread i formed my opinion about it all. and left me with a question.

It takes away a big challenge of scripting that is true, i script cause i like the challenge so i won't be using it, just like i won't be using SS. And there lies my question, as of all that, KYAB gets "banned" from SRL, why not drawing the line further and get rid off SS also?

We don't create scripts made for SS, we use normal scripts made for the runescape client and then we run those on scar-scape for extra stability.

Actually, I have to disagree with you Wizzup?, isn't SRL a help for to make it easier to script? By making SRL aren't you trying to make an easy to use script include that makes scripting easier to script for the younger members? Well that is what KYAB does, I know I haven't used SRL for just over a year now and it has probably changed drastically since I have left, but nevertheless it is still a help for SCAR which is what KYAB is.

And also, most people keep their updaters private - for example me, almost nobody knows I have an ObjectWeb ASM updater.

No, SRL is here to keep us from pasting the same basic procedures and functions at the top of every script we use, it's also for anti-random purposes since not everyone can make their own box solver or PHP data base which records SRL stats.

I would rather work smart (with KYAB) then hard. And if there are so many people against KYAB that want to work for a challenge, dont have to use KYAB. I think it would only be for the good if KYAB was accepted into SRL

I have to disagree with that. SRL isn't about making scripting easier, it's about making scripting possible without spending your whole life trying to make a script. If you try making a script without srl, that's just as undetectable, it would take more than the months that it takes now.

That's more about a time thing, not a "making it easier" thing.

Ok speed then, you could make a "nearly" flawless walking script with scar but it would take a whole less time with KYAB and after that you could focus on more IMPORTANT parts of your script.. people it would just be a tool that would give users a choice to backup or enhance their script..

Bringing a script's making time down to 2 weeks-4 months…etc. is fine with srl. Bringing a script's making time down to 1 day-1 week would make making scripts to easy.

It's not enhancing, it's making easier. We could make just as good of a script with just scar/srl.

I think this is ridiculous, if you can't even give a simple valid reason as to why you posted this thread than it should be removed or locked.

Point in case, I'm done with this topic, let some admin or moderator deal with this bs.

You never gained a single thing from this thread, and you wasted everyones time. I would recommend never doing this again. Leave me alone, leave SRL alone.

Fuck up your own forums.

Good luck,

Raymond, a SRL mod let me bump this topic and told me to place a thread here if I choose to further discuss this topic, furthermore, I would like some more people's views, Some of you have stated for and against it that's exactly what I want

Actually, directing it at me still makes it redundant, if you see clearly IceFire has been on duel-flame war with me for the past i duno 2 -3 hours?
Also Wizzup advised me not to reply to his posts as to avoid this flame war, but it is impossible he keeps coming back and he will come back again, so let us all just keep discussing this and I will ignore any comment from IceFire, if you choose not to do the same it is your decision but let us all try to stay OnTopic and get more people's views/ideas.

Not to sound redundant, and not defending anyone, but you don't seem to know much about forums either. There is an edit button. Just trying to help you to not look redundant ;)

Been a while since i posted here..

Now i honestly feel that i can see IceFire's point on What's the point of this thread? As i can't really say, but i do think an open discussion about the views and opinions of KYAB was a good idea. (Even if that's not the intention of this thread)

The main issue that's always bothered me here is how most everyone is perfectly fine with ScarScape (whether or not they use it) but completely shuns KYAB. When i say most everyone, that's at least the feeling i got last time anything about KYAB was mentioned here. I'm glad to see theres some people who are taking their own opinions (instead of those of others) and choosing to be indifferent towards the subject.

I understand IceFire's source of his anger, even though it's evolved into something more now. The source being the fact that Types and UIDs (Or however you wish to call them) have been basically discontinued in KYAB and little to no effort has been shown to reintroduce them (other than "You're right, i'll put those back in" followed by no changes). I understand people have real life matters to attend to that keeps them from doing things…But at the amount of months it's been now it's sort of ridiculous. That's another subject altogether though.

Since the flame war seems to have died down somewhat though, i'll go back to my confusion. Can anyone (or rather, someone who feels KYAB should be basically shunned from SRL) give me a specific answer as to why KYAB should be hated while ScarScape is completely acceptable? Given the fact that KYAB only reads variables from the client whereas ScarScape "haxes" it.

Exactly, and yes the point of this thread was merely to discuss why not give KYAB as chance, now, that's doing two things:

Advertising and asking for a discussion.

But IceFire has made it a flame war, well guess what, if I cannot discuss this with SRL members (apart from getting flamed 24/7 by IceFire) then someone will close this, and I will post it again, I might get banned but people will remember my small effort, hell I've over 2k posts + Spent Time On Board: 1 month 1 week 6 day, someone is bound to remember this small effort to discuss KYAB, I merely want to discuss it I do NOT want a stupid flame war, IceFire repeatedly goes OffTopic and flames..I will put up a fight..

No, KYAB isn't easier to get banned with at all, we don't "hack" the client we merely read information (variables) in it, that won't makes us detectable at all.

Im sure No one cares what I say But Please Read:

SRL= Scar Resource Library, No?

Isn't KYAB a Resource for SCAR?

Im no expert but doesn't that mean KYAB should Be in SRL. I like to think KYAB as another SRL function, like "IsUpText" it returns a value just like KYAB "GetMotion" returns 4 aka Running. Both have the same idea behind them, They Both return a value, that can make scripting easier.

And on the Makes scripting too easy argument: So doesn't that mean you shouldn't use anything that makes scripting easier? So why are you using SRL?

And if you still think it makes it too easy, there is always the option of not using it! No one makes you, and if someone else wants to use it, then its there if they want it.

For those reasons I think KYAB should be added to SRL, Just like every other function/resource that makes SCAR scripting easier.

No chance of getting banned through KYAB. KYAB itself has 0% ban rates. That's a lot to say, but it's true. It's not a "hack". It's kinda like reading over your friend's shoulder while he types. All KYAB does is read variables.

/sigh a lot of you guys are stupid and no i'm not just referring to SRLians(:))

Hmm where to begin?

KYAB is not merely a tool to make walking easier it is to make botting less detectable. For starters as Solar said it is in no way detectable by Jagex. Secondly it can increase undetectability in the sense that it is more human. Haven't you ever used a script and found when you came back to your computer your bot was just walking around in circles? I have loads of times, with the "good" scripts too. This will not happen with KYAB as it uses tiles and walking is so much more accurate. Also there is getanimation which means you can no when you've stopped mining straight away and you can look for the next ore straight away increasing speed and looking more human like.

Secondly I once asked why was KYAB not accepted here and I was given one answer and it was from an admin. He merely quoted a rule that said something similar too: "We do not support rs programs made in java etc. at these forums." Then I saw SMART and a big WTF popped into my head.

JAD you say that SRL merely stops the script making process taking 4 months or whatever and turns it into about a 1 month process. You also say you could walk from so and so perfectly if you tried really hard and worked on it, mind you that would probly take probly longer than 4 months to perfect so why not use a tool that just like SRL shortens the script making process.

Secondly the fact that SS is supported here just shows the hypocracy. SS is a tool that client hacks runescape, yet it is fully supported not just by members but by leaders. You also whine and complain about how KYAB makes scripting too easy yet SS is a tool designed to not only make walking easier but object finding too! Hypocracy much?

I don't bot rs anymore so it's not like I'm choosing sides with KYAB because it gets u geepeez quicker but because the way it has been treated is totally unjust and unfair. Plus SMART is the biggest geepeez tool you could possibly have.

To Ice and JAD I respect you both especially Ice after his last post but really don't backseat mod it makes you look like a fag. I could go to countless threads at this place and ask "What is the purpose of this thread?" and antagonize the starter of the thread but I don't because:
1) If I find a thread pointless I don't go to it and waste my precious time on it < z0mg!
2) I have no right to force my opinions or views on someone when other people might have a good purpose for the thread.
3) Especially this one after a mod has given it the go ahead, not that any thread like this should need to be given the go ahead by anyone.

Also Hugo you don't have any right to tell someone to not post on a thread, unless of course a non member haxed the forums and got into the members section and was posting in your thread, then by all means scream GTFO!

^That, my friend is the most accurate post. I may use kyab sometime, but since scar/srl is more famous and im more used to it, i gotta get used to kyab. Do you still need to be a srl member to get access to scripts, tuts and stuff? Not that im gonna leach or anything.

Edit: Oi. It uses the same scripting proc's like srls? AWESOME. I thought it was a java language.

KYAB would be a resource for SCAR if it was IN SCAR, like some sort of plugin.
It would still be using knowledge about the java code, though. ;)

This thread is for advertising KYAB, not for discussing the fact that you would like to see it in SRL.

Because I'd like to see more people developing it, learning and using it.
Isn't SS accepted here? well that's also using knowledge of the java code..
Also, we are but reading a few variables, would you rather give the opportunity for SRL users to make more reliable, human-like and advanced scripts or not make use of some java variable reading?

As IceFire once said "Types and UIDs were the best thing to happen to KYAB" or something along those lines at least. When someone refers to it being broken, that's usually what they mean.

I'd still like to see someone explain to me why SS is completely accepted here even though it uses "java knowledge" yet KYAB is not. Not to mention i thought SS was more detectable? Not sure on that part though.

ScareScape edits the client. It injects code into the client, its like editing a script which makes it faster but more detectable. Like replacing MMouse with MoveMouse..

KYAB Reads variables from the client.. Its like looking over the shoulder of runescape, its not detectable since it doesn't edit the client. It just places a sneaky webcam that reads all the variables.

you have a valid point n3ss, i cant comprehend why KYAB isn't liked, the only thing i can think of is that it uses java. But i don't think that, that should affect anything. The fact that it uses java means nothing. The fact that it makes scripting easier in the sense of walking maybe, but otherwise i cant see why this conflict is even happening.

agreed. The thing that pisses me off the most at KYAB was the lack of feedback on my scripts…always would get a "will post a proggie when i get a chance" but never did ONCE. The fact of the matter is, I dont want to waste my time writing scripts that people:

a. wont use it.
or
b. wont even look at it for feedback.

Also, the "fixing the bot" refers to the UIDs and Types that it used to have. And I also seem to be having rather inaccurate clicks due to the mini map changes (6 or 7 tiles off at least).

I think its pathetic that because ppl dont like solar, the bot is unaccepted. Immature imo. God knows that if Fakawi was a part of KYAB everyone would support it in a heart beat. Give the bot a chance ppl.

@ the first paragraph, I didn't mean srl merely stops the script making process…

Why do other people than the best script? The devs/admins..etc. are better scripters than me, what the hell am I doing scripting? We should just have the best scripters make another include called scripts, and use KYAB. Than, we could write scripts like these, because they'd be more reliable and they'd be made by the best:

program New;
{.include scripts.scar}

begin
CutYewsAtEdgevil;
end.

and

program New;
{.include scripts.scar}

begin
FishLobstersAtKaramja;
end.

Then, nobody would need to learn any languages or anything, and there'd be no point to this community any more! That'd be the life for the leechers. Only problem is, it wouldn't be the life for the people that like scar, along with ALL it's procedures (including radial walk), and it would make us go away because there'd be no point.

Maybe KYAB doesn't make it that easy, but we could sure as hell make scripting easier without KYAB by what I did above, and we don't because we care about scripting more than having a bigger number on your gp's on runescape.

many scripters here at srl are here for the scripting and the challenge, NOT for making more money on runescape!

to be fair i have seen quite a bit of SS usage around and about.

i havnt used either SRL or KYAB for a long time now but i do agree that KYAB has more to offer it just needs to be worked on until its accepted for what it is.

the KYAB forums are a great place, thats the place where i finally decided to learn java and the people there helped me asmuch as they could.

in my opinion shorter is better. if you where trying to get to school in because you where late as quick as you possibly can your not going to take the long route (well i presume so :P). Why cant KYAB be used to make scripts shorter and more efficient. quite often if someone posts a new function/procedure someone else will come along and shorten it so it does the same thing but with less lines of code, cant using KYAB just be seen as another way of doing this to scripts?

[PS sorry for all the bad grammer above]

If SRL would do that for KYAB that would be great…But I dont see why it would be a big deal not to?

I didn't say going inactive was bad… I said that coming back after not being on the forums in a while and telling us how it is is inaccurate, because you haven't been around in a while. I wouldn't have posted on this thread if I hadn't been active in the last few months either…

You don't find a need to spam the forums? That's interesting that your post count sky rocketed like it did. Just putting that out there, but I helped YOU become an srl member. No need for the disrespect, you can not respect someone without disrespecting them. I didn't know you were this immature.

You've lost interest here, so why are you here telling us what would be to our best interest here?

And for the people that look at me like I'm crazy because I don't like KYAB, I really don't give a bleep about how effective scripts could be with KYAB. I want to make just as effective scripts with scar, because that's more fun. I'm in it for the fun of scripting, and I personally don't want the fun level of scripting brought down by KYAB.

If you didn't notice there's a white bear next to my name, and I'm not bragging about it, but I believe that means that I helped people more than people without a bear? Just putting that out there, but I helped YOU become an srl member. No need for the disrespect, you can not respect someone without disrespecting them. I didn't know you were this immature.

You've lost interest here, so why are you here telling us what would be to our best interest here?

And for the people that look at me like I'm crazy because I don't like KYAB, I really don't give a bleep about how effective scripts could be with KYAB. I want to make just as effective scripts with scar, because that's more fun. I'm in it for the fun of scripting, and I personally don't want the fun level of scripting brought down by KYAB.

Is it just me or does that entire post have nothing to do with KYAB but more that you feel those of us who haven't been quite that active here have no say in issues here anymore? Plus, if you feel that KYAB takes the fun out of it, then you don't need to use it. That doesn't mean that KYAB should be viewed as this horrible mass of fail by SRL as a whole. I'd point out some ways you exaggerated the help KYAB gives but RK already did. And quite frankly i feel no need to repeat what he said given that you didn't really respond to it xD

But while i'm here lemme just say to RK, calm down (just a lil' bit) xD But other than that keep it up.

Like I or you said, you don't need to post to be active, I often check the forums and am up to speed with what is happening here, I didn't just come back all of a sudden to post on this thread i've been here just not posting…..I have every right to post on this thread just as much as you, I probly understand what the situation is more than you do…

"You've lost interest here, so why are you here telling us what would be to our best interest here?"
When did I tell you what your best interests should be?

"I'm in it for the fun of scripting, and I personally don't want the fun level of scripting brought down by KYAB."
But yet you don't mind it being brought down by SRL?

Also genuine question, how did you help me become a member? I seriously don't remember anything about that time :S Oh except you had a tut on something I think.

Yes I do admit I used to be a spammer :( I remember looking back at my posts one day and realising half of them are full of shit. Mind you after I recieved member status I only really visited the help section as my goal had been achieved. At least I don't deny the fact that yes I once was a spammer, and yes you most definately were too so don't bother holding that against anyone. Also believe it or not there are people without cups that fulfill the standards of the cup more than others, devs are just an example, not saying anything bad about the devs but well there are some that clearly should be and others that I can't believe are.

"No need for the disrespect, you can not respect someone without disrespecting them. I didn't know you were this immature."
Was that meant to be something prolific? Because that was really quite stupid. Of course you can respect someone without having disrespected them. And just because you don't agree with me doesn't make me immature…

I also happened to notice how many of my questions you avoided, seems to happen a lot on this topic.

I'm done posting on this topic… Many things I've said have been flipped into meaning something else which I didn't intend at all.

Anyways, last thing I'll say, and I really don't want anyone to quote this at all and tell me I'm wrong or right.

Most of us here that care about scripting and love to script, make scripts for the fun of scripting. Scripting would be barely possible and only the best of the best could do it. SRL gives those non best of the best an opportunity to make a good script for runescape. KYAB is communism. (I think I used the right word) It makes everybody be able to make the same quality script without needing to learn as much. Walking in a script has always been the hardest part; taking that out means any noob can make (almost, or at least a lot closer) as good of a script as SB/wizzup?/nielsie/fawki…etc. easily (no need to go on further, you know who you amazing scripters are)

So IMO, KYAB makes it much easier to script, and in turn makes it much more possible for any noob to be as good at scripting as any of the scripting gods (not calling myself a scripting god, I know I'm not close to one).

The people who actually have a say in what changes with srl and KYAB are not me, but I think they've stated their opinions before this topic too, and I'm not sure they've changed…

I'd prefer nobody quotes this and flames me for it, but those who don't like me and respect me and want to flame me will (rk).

I'm gonna have to quote you as i wish to reply to what you said, but i'll definitely do my best to not flame you :)

I'd like it if you could stay on this thread and have a discussion about this as i feel you are one of the people who voices their anti-kyab opinion the most, which in effect would make convincing you a great accomplishment (Though i doubt that's possible anyway xD) and could create for some intellectual debate on the subject.

Anyway, onto your post. I'm confused. You seem to be contradicting yourself. You say that SRL gives those who aren't the best of the best the ability to make a good script for runescape. And then you say that KYAB makes thing easier. So first you say making things easier is good, but then that it is bad? I realize there are different levels of "easy" but still. Kind of hypocritical.

Furthermore, anyone can make something similar to KYAB provided they have the knowledge. What i'm getting at is, would you view it as being too easy if you had made KYAB from scratch and then scripts to accompany it? As in, going through the work to make tile walking possible (Which you have to admit, is a more effective approach to walking) for the benefits it gives. To make sure what i'm saying is clear, doing the harder thing of making an add on for the advanced performance it gives. Comparable to choosing to use TPA's to find your objects over a simple FindColor. The former is harder but results in better accuracy, right? Same idea here.

Only difference is, it's beyond most people's abilities to do something like that, not to mention update it, and it's more effective if everyone uses the same add on, as it creates more compatability. So in the same way that SRL allows "non-gods of programming" to create decent scripts, KYAB allows "non-gods of programming" to create decent scripts with better walking (among other things). Right?

What i'm getting at is, you seem to feel that KYAB is bad because it takes less work to make a good script, but SRL is the same thing essentially. Plus the whole point of making a script (Or hell, a program in general) is how effective it actually is. Of course the fun is in the challenge, and occasionally the only purpose IS the fun, but if one were to look at the actual performance of it, wouldn't that matter more?

Maybe you'll disagree with my last point (Hell, i almost do xD) but all in all it seems like you're against improvement. Making something hard easier IS an improvement. Making something more effective IS an improvement. That's why we have cars.

And if you feel like that takes the fun out of it then i can't honestly see how. It allows you to perfect other aspects of your script, and if everyone is making "perfect scripts" it is much more challenging to make your "perfect script" better than theirs. At least, that's the general feeling i got from the time i spent at RSCA, everyone can make a script that can run for days straight, but making an extremely good and more advanced one (in terms of performance and code quality) was much more rewarding.

One other point i'd like to mention is that SRL is a learning enviroment, right? We want to help people learn and grow. Why is it then viewed as if "We want to help people learn and grow within the limits of SCAR"? KYAB is open source for a reason, we don't want people to just use it for phr33 g33p33z, it's in the hopes that others will learn from it. Is there anything wrong with that? (Not saying you or anyone else said there is something wrong with that, but you get where i'm going i hope)

It may be just me but i get the feeling like SRL is against advancements that make SRL or SCAR less useful. That may be another topic altogether, but eh. Anyway, if so, it would make sense as KYAB makes anything related to walking in SRL, unneeded. So that could make sense i suppose, but hopefully that's not the case. If that is the case, i can explain the problems with that later xD

I realize my post has gotten a bit long and ranty-ish, and probably goes way off from your post JAD, but i'd like to hear what you have to say to the points i provided. And if i have flamed you in anyway, i apologize.

Edit: Oh, and nobody ever answered my question about why SS uses java (and edits the client) and is 100% accepted while KYAB merely reads variables from the client is not. This question is mainly aimed at those who feel that KYAB is wrong because of it's use of java and whatnot.

I couldn't respect you more for the mature way you posted that unlike some people who quoted me… Thank you.

But SRL has been worked on for a long long time, and KYAB takes away a lot from the hard work put into it.

A different but similiar scenario would be SCAR and Ibot. Why don't we use Ibot over SCAR? Why doesn't Ibot use SCAR over itself (if that makes sense)? One of them is better than the other. If, hypothetically, Ibot was undoubtedly a better bot than SCAR, why aren't we/wouldn't we be using that instead? It's better, right? We could have used RSDemon if that was better too, right? Why didn't/wouldn't we? Maybe it's because we like to script more than we like a better bot/like to leech.

I don't like KYAB, I never will. There's some people here that don't like KYAB and probably never will either. No matter what we say though, no matter what I say, you say, anybody says: Nobody is going to change the opinions of the people who can make this happen… They've stated their opinions before, and if there opinions had changed, they would have asked about putting KYAB in scar already.

So it really doesn't matter in any way if you were to convince me, although you probably never will, because I don't have a say in it. You don't have a say in it. Solarwind doesn't have a say in it. Hugo doesn't have a say in it. The admins decided what happened, and it doesn't seem like they've changed their minds because srl is not incorporated with KYAB still.

I kind of disagree on your last point, everyone has a say on it. One person in particular might not have a large say, but if their opinion is shared by enough people in most cases the admins would consider it and probably change their mind.

As for why SCAR over RSDemon, that's simple. RSDemon was practically instaban, and was actually harmful to RS. As for why SCAR over iBot, that's more of a matter of opinion i'd say, and it's a bit more difficult to answer.

And i do think people's opinions can be changed..isn't that the basic purpose of debating or discussing a subject? xD Not that they need to be changed or anything. But honestly, the entire issue of KYAB has become almost as argumentative as that of religion. It was my hope this thread could bring an end to that somewhat.

Not to mention hardly any admins have posted here (that i can see? o.O) So, if the admins were to post and explain that they felt that way, and that nothing can change their minds, that'd be somewhat different. But as of now most have remained somewhat silent..?

It is very unlikely the admins will change their decision even if a large group of people did vote on a subject. Voting is more guidelines of what the members think, not what should be done. If someone made a thread saying "Release source of SCAR", i can 99% guarantee that most people will say yes and the thread will go that way. But does that mean Freddy will do it? no.

What he was trying to say i think is that we have built SRL up from nothing, just as ruler has ibot and someone else rsdemon. That is why we do not want to abandon them; all of our hard work goes to waste. KYAB makes all of our hard work (our baby if you will) go to waste, which we do not want to see.

Debating and discussing a matter just gets everyone's views out into the open. I don't think it will change anyone's views on matter, unless they are downright wrong. However. most of the things we discuss have no right or wrong answer.

Admins don't want to say what they think. If the wanted KYAB integrated hey would have done it. It hasn't happened, therefor we can say they dont want it done. If they post sayin they dont want it done, then they look bad / loose face. Think of it from their point of view.

As for the whole KYAB = no, SS = yes matter on this board, SS is accepted because we still have to SCAR script and make a good script for it to work; all the challenges of scripting are still there. However with KYAB, most of those challenges are removes, making a large chunk of SRL obsolete. We do not want our baby SRL to go to waste. Plus the whole Solarwind thing, but lets leave that out.

Just so you know, I like and use KYAB, so don't bash me on anything please, I am just answering a few questions :) Thanks.

Even though daniel likes and uses KYAB, that's pretty much what I've been trying to say this whole time. I pretty much agree 100% on everything he said. Thanks daniel.

Now I'm done "discussing" this, because we could all discuss it until we're blue in the face, but as dan said, it really wouln't make KYAB integrated into srl.

I agree with your first paragraph, the admins won't ever accept KYAB again, but I think the point of this thread, well for me anyway was, why won't it be accepted?

I also fail too see how KYAB makes all SRL's hard work go to waste seeing as KYAB can't exist without SRL. There are constantly functions being upgraded by people, that replace old SRL functions, yet that does not put all of SRL hard work to waste. KYAB may replace RRW or DDTMS(when used for walking) but it also adds things like getanimation which doesn't replace anything SRL.

I disagree on your point that SS keeps all of the challenges there. Firstly you do not have to negotiate changing colours and picking up colours from other objects you do not want. A lot of the time you had to find ways other than findcolortol to find an object but with SS you could just do a findcolor without even a tolerance and you'd find your object 100% of the time. Also one of walkings main challenges was to get the whole walk working even with a changing compass, SS disables the changing compass.

I think your arguments were a lot more stronger than the previous ones thrown out and at least you gave an answer about the SS thing unlike everyone else avoiding the questions. You made some valid points too.

keep posting :)

Thanks i appreciate your maturity.

The admins won't accept KYAB because most of them are the people who have put the most effort into making SRL: Fakawi, Wizzup, Benland, Sumilion, Starblaster100, Flyboy etc. All of them have put a huge amount of effort into making SRL what it is today. I don't blame them, SRL is amazing

KYAB can exist without SRL, they just have to make their own include and it will be done. KYAB doesn't depend on SRL, they choose to make it depend on SRL. SRL obviously doesn't depend on KYAB either. The only reason KYAB is depending on SRL is because the admins of KYAB have chosen to do so, as this is a powerful community and they want to be high up in it.

SS does eliminate some challenges yes, but not all of them. Walking is still hard to do, as well as finding all objects, interacting with objects etc. with KYAB, you just have to say Interact with this ID, wait for this motion, click this tile. It makes it too easy, and can also make a script detectable. With SS, only the less experienced scripters will say click coord here, they will still use SRL failsafes. Also, in SS wasn't map locked north taken out at one point? Don't know if this is still the case.

KYAB just makes things too simple, SS just eliminates a couple of challenges for a few people IMO.

I kinda agree with your first point but you must realise, pretty much the only other thing KYAB has atm is walking, getanimation/motion. To write a whole new include like SRL would be as you said, a mammoth job, but you're right in that KYAB could make its own include.

Ok what I am about to say is a rip off of Icefire's exceptional point. Its about the whole "KYAB is too simple" thing. I'll just quote him.

Complexity difference is barely anything. Just because KYAB finds the object easier I think that people automatically assume the code is easier. Well I think Ice put that to rest.

IceFire's Craft is 6000 + lines and that is USING KYAB so I think KYAB doesn't make things that easy at all, and no KYAB does depend on SRL, we are a dying community and most likely die if we do not unite with SRL.

I'm sure the admins would post if they were active, Fakawi would post here I'm sure and Wizzy has posted.
The only thnig they would both post or have posted is that it's still "using our knowledge of the java code" that is the lamest excuse ever IMO they could have found a much better excuse not throw that bs at us but meh it's besides the point KYAB will live on hopefully.

KYAB is a dieing community for the simple reason that no one is doing anything there. Even with xKYAB, the only people who ever really did anything on it were imafatmess and joey. And imafatmess was the one who got things going, so to speak. Now that he's stopped worked on it all work has pretty much halted. I don't think that the reason we should "unite with SRL" is to keep the KYAB community alive, that's stupid. But i do think that the communities should become more friendly towards eachother at the least, as that can only be beneficial to both. And as far as the using java code, that argument hasn't once been brought up here because fit makes no sense considering SS

But yeah, IceFire's script is/was a great example that complexity and the challenge remain when you use KYAB. Only problem with the code examples posted is that the non-KYAB version was made to work for any bank and the KYAB version for only FEB, making it look less complex xD

correct, but, as you see IceFire script was over 6000 lines long, while he quickly did the walking he focused on more important things and made quite a complex script.. whereas if you used scar anyone can do walking in scar too it just takes longer and then you won't have as much time to focus on other things..

Do you think it's right to answer a question youj don't have enough knowledge on? I've never used scar scape, and I don't think I had even heard of it until a few weeks ago. You would have bashed me if I answered your question because I would have sounded like I had no knowledge on SS, which I really don't.

You wouldn't talk about how you hate the way SCAR's source code looks (example), would you? Because you, or not anybody else really except freddy, has any idea.

And even if I did have the knowledge on it, we have the right to speak and not to speak on these forums. You don't need to speak about how you voted on a members app or anything. It's a privilege, and it doesn't in any way need to be used.

I'm done posting on this topic unless somebody asks me a valid question I feel like responding too. This thread is going nowhere because from what I've seen and heard, nothing has changed since last time.

a script that's 6000 lines long could have taken a shorter amount of time to script than a script 500 lines long, and the 500 line long script might still work better, not saying that's the case with his script. Length doesn't mean anything. There's been power miners probably longer than Wizzup?'s that didn't work as well.

Just budding into this thread real quick.

I did not intent for that quote to be posted on these forums just yet, however I will say a few things regarding it.

My main purpose of posting that chunk of code is to show my actual first hand experience in coding in both SRL and KYAB. As you can tell the SRL was only slightly more complex to code (that and because it was designed for 6 banks instead of 1 mind me). The fact that my RuneCrafter was 6616 lines of code isn't necessarily what makes it "complex" or whatever, it's the way the loops are designed and the integration of SRL functions working with KYAB's functions to time the script just so perfectly and add fail safes using the same good old methods the only difference is the way the X, Y of the bankbooth are found. One uses a line that uses FindColorsSpiral, and one uses a line that uses FindMSCoordsOfUID.

Now, I ask you, with a difference as small as that is it really fair to say something like "KYAB should never be used here" The thing this, no one has ever or will ever force you to use KYAB, simply if you don't want to use KYAB you don't have to and from what I can think of the only reasons to keep other people from using KYAB are stupid things like feeling special because you confused some people with your code, in other words, you would rather be appreciated by others for something you did yet you claim it's only for the intellectual challenge of scripting when really, there's more to it than that.

I will leave this thread again for now after saying something…

If you really want to accomplish something here, stop defending a single point of view (this applys to both opinions Pro and Anti-KYAB) because you will never get very far just from that. You have to carefully consider everything you read and come to the closest good decision whether it's for KYAB or against it and whether you have to keep or change your previous opinion.

Play nice,

(hopefully) last thing I have to say.

Why do you want KYAB integrated into srl? Because it would be more popular? KYAB right now you "don't have to use" if you don't want to, but you can if you do. The only reason I can see for you wanting it integrated into srl is because it would be more widely used because this is the biggest forum for runescape autoing.

When KYAB went public Fakawi didn't want it as part of SRL, he didn't from the beginning. Now that he is gone for awhile, you try to bring it back? Kyab is separate from SRL and should remain as such. KYAB has its own site, if you are trying to get it in to SRL cause KYAB is dieing or you don't want to pay the bills…Well I'm sorry but thats your problem not ours. If KYAB dies, so be it. No offense but as soon as I saw that email about the reported post by solar I knew something like this was about to happen. Lets face the facts, solar you only come around when you want something.
That is what Hobbit said yesterday. He hasn't read the topic at all, just what it says in the First post and knows what this topic is about. I am trying to get him more info. But it is hard to text mass amounts with a cell.

I find this very interesting. I don't think that (no offence to any side) that KYAB should be integrated into SRL. I think that two communities shouldn't fight, though. I understand when you make a piece of work, you want it to be admired. I do admire it. I could never make something this awesome with java. I can't do much on it. To be honest, you are the one throwing 'bullshit' at everyone here.

You come here advertising KYAB, without solarwind even knowing of it in the first place.
Maybe you should ask him for a word of advice and permission.
After all, if this thread causes problems, most people will blame him instead of you.
You know how alot of people at SRL think about KYAB, why would you repost a thread that has caused for problems every time it got posted…?

Come up with good arguments instead of starting fights with everyone around here.

Maybe you should talk to solarwind, he seems alot more mature now. :)

Oh yeah, and don't start accusing the admins of using lame arguments, will you?

After seeying Wizzup? example i can only say "WOW", i mean that's all there is to it? And it's 100% accurate? Geez, i just finished creating the DDTM's for a junglewalk for my nature runecrafter, which added 1500+ lines extra to the script. After it's finished i plan on trying out KYAB, and post it on your boards for sure, that way i can make up my own mind about the whole "issue"

Someone on this thread said something about not being against progress, I agree with that, to the point that you don't start relying on the progress. I don't know how easy it is to update KYAB, SRL seems allot easier depending on the update offcourse.
I heard that in the beginning of KYAB it was down every 5 minutes or so, course, i'm sure those where just symtoms of a new system being created. But it does relate back to the relying on progress issue for me.

If KYAB gets integrated with SRL then after a while everyone will use it for sure, even the ones claiming they want the challenge, cause we are all human and we want the easy way, those disagreeing with me don't know themself that well or are to pigheaded to admit it.
Course, with the KYAB part being so flawless and being used all the time, there is no need for the other walking procedures in SRL. So after a while they'll be taken out, cause what dev is gone spend time on updating a procedure that nobody uses? Which makes us scripters rely on KYAB to do the walking, nothing wrong with that, unless at some point for some reason KYAB goes down, and please don't say it's not possible cause it is, just like SRL can go down also, just think it's easier for KYAB and might be harder to fix then with SRL?
Basically, what i'm trying to point out is, integrating KYAB in SRL is progress and progress is a good thing for sure. Depending on how it's used, we could end up castrating ourself.

The way i see it is, if you want to use kyab with srl go a head! if you dont dont , since the admins do not want to merge it dont press it because you want to use ot to script do it dont if you dont it doest have to to be merged together to make it able to use , so there is not point making this thread if you can use it anyway you want more people on kyab? just ask them via massager , they dot have you "unite" if the admins dont what to do it ( as i can see Wizzup? doesnt want to) if you want to use kyab with srl go head not need to make it all one site they are 2 different types of scripting used together so lets just keep it 2 different sites

Walking is the most painful and boring thing in SCAR. Making it easier = good IMO.

BUT the point is that KYAB has a quite small community and not too many scripts to it's not too useful. And releasing it to public (if it already hasn't been released to public) could be a good idea..

Personally I like KYAB and the idea of it and it's extremely stupid IMO to say things like "it throws away SRLs hard work and ruins everything" and that nobody wants to nor will learn SCAR anymore. TO be exact they might not want to learn RRW, so what? I think everyone should be allowed to choose between KYAB and RRW, and maybe they can move to RRW once they're more advanced with SCAR?

And I don't see how KYAB is stopping people who seek more challenge from using RRW? And KYAB uses SRL too so it's not trying to replace SRL as far as I know, just makes walking simplier, and I don't see people raging about SS making everything easier or how it's ruining everything……

Anyways, I don't rly care.

Unless i'm mistaken the only admin who posted their opinion was Wizzup? And Sumillion posted referring to whether or not this thread should be closed. And Wizzups post has to do with the intentions of this thread, and not so much the reason why KYAB should or should not be accepted here.

I do agree with Wizzups post though, on the notion that more thought should have been put into this thread before it was made (If it was still to be made at all).

Instead of repeating my points again, i'll just say to read GoF and Psychor's posts as they sum up some things quite nicely. Oh, and what Ruler said about it all being politics of course.

Offtopic: Sumillion, when did you get admin? xD Congratz. I still remember back when i started here and released a Rimmington Miner, and then you released yours..Lol.

Oh and JAD, your posts continue to put me at awe. You somehow manage to almost completely ignore whatever you're replying to yet still make a convincing argument. It baffles me. (No offense meant at all in that, honestly)

Wow, for some reason, my email notifications stopped coming and I stopped looking at this thread. Stupid vb. Proprietary software never gets anything right!

Anyway, back to the topic at hand…

Well i have brief access for about 3 more minutes so i will post a bit more of my opinion that Mr.Klean was going to post for me later.

Hugo, you posted that when Ben left KYAB the the trust in it went with him. That is because when he left, that left Solar incharge of things, and we all know how that's been going at times. Time and time again Solar has showed us why we should not trust him, latest of which is cracking Nexus, not to mention the threats made by him in the past…KYAB will never have a home at SRL, read the home page, we "don't use our knowledge of java". Many things before kyab have died and gone and maybe not it is KYAB's turn.

I have more to say but must go.

Yes and that statement is complete bullshit as this forum 100% supports SMART and SS which both use Java

Referring to "We do not use our knowledge of the Java code" is really reading and comprehending with out context.

The statement doesn't mean anything that has a trace of Java source code is forbidden, it basically means they don't look at any RuneScape source code or variables ect… instead rely on things that are perfectly "natural" in a sense, such as the colors and shapes you see when you play the game.

I have seen many reasons to or no to use KYAB, to be honest, almost all of them are valid. Solarwind is incapable of fixing KYAB, purely incapable of doing it even if you gave him the time to focus on it (he's done nothing but stare at the source code for the past six-eight months -.-), BenLand100 on the other hand could create a completely separate bot with the same concept all on his own and could probably integrate it right into SMART if he wanted to, but from what I understand he does not want to simply because people war over it such as now.

What I fail to understand is why anyone would want to try and tell other people why they should or shouldn't use KYAB, people are completely free to chose what they decide and it's not in anyway effecting the your challenge as a scripter to do it your way, but then again it is effecting your "l33t status" or whatever, so please stop saying that you reject things with the concept of KYAB just because it ruins your challenge, no one is forcing you to use it.

As for SRL being integrated into KYAB, that's just stupid. Leave SRL's include alone. Make a KYAB.SCAR for basic functions needed or whatever and include it by itself (it's not that difficult).

As for this thread, there has never been a point to it. There will be a time and place to discuss what's being discussed now, but it is not here and it is not now.

KYAB will never have a home at SRL

Wasn't that just easier to say on the beginning?
