Why?:
-Too much spamming for 10+ posts…

-people keep asking how to get into srl junior members

-More Bull Crap Applications for SRL members(i have seen quite alot. people just posting wierd , 10 line scripts)and most of those people are the LEECHERS


What I am Suggesting:
-To become a srl member junior you must apply ? like srl members but, we will go easier than we do on the SRL members? and not stop them to not script * so more people will come and script thats SRL forums goal *

-Or just make a section of leechers Scripts (or w/e title Wt-fawki would want :P) and they post there script well than we see if they should become a srl junior member if they made a effort script<no autotalkers :D>

^^ idk if the second idea is good but im trying to say,to get more people off the leecher side || we can try to bring them to script atleast ONCE , so they know why they get problems/errors and such.Well please think about this.

and 1 more thing
once people join the forums dont let them see any forums only [how to script,how to become a srl junior member]

and general stuff ;D

I think noobs and leechers are inevitable…

I do like the idea of some sort of "test" to see if they know the basics or something…like maybe have a small quiz for them to take, which they have to get 90% or higher on.

Questions like:

What is the minimum combat level you should auto on?
How do you get into SRL members?
What are the reqs of SRL membership?
More expected knowledge ect.

Maybe actual scripting questions…

However as I said before leeching and spamming is inevitable so this might not even help at all…good thought tho pink ;)

Theres like 25k+ juinor members, easily though… it would have to be like so once there are 2/3 yes votes (out of like 5-10)on their app it would auto accept them to juinors…

Too many of them…it takes us few years to vote for all of them ^^
If there would be automatic quiz(like someone above mentioned) after 10 posts and being here for week, then it would be better

people with no scripts should be leachers, :D. you should need a good working script to be a junior member :D. (no auto talkers). the srl membership should be harder, and the jr mem should be just slightly easier then the member requirements are now. :D

you have it so they can only view stickies and thats where they get their info for the quiz. So it forces them to read the stickies to become junior members :)

All this in addition to the 7 day, 10 post thing

to many ppl would cheat though, like if they have friends :D

im guessing it'd be possible to make the questions randomize themselves(php :))

and it would ensure that they have at least skimmed over the stickies enough to hopegully not be as spammy and annoying as they wouldve been :)

Even if they cheat, they would have to read through the rules to answer correctly.

idk about the quiz IDEA :S still doesnt really help (like make them learn how to script…)

We have enough srl members that want something to do on the forums anyways, so it's not like this would be a waste of time voting, because a lot of people are looking for things to waste their time on :p

It'd be cool if it's auto except. Like 10 votes and 70% + = automatically in? We can't have 2 or 3 yes's because if 2 srl members decide to vote yes on every app… The biggest noobs could get in :p

So I say it's an okay idea. It would definitely have to be auto accept though.

if 8-10 yes <In
if 4-5 no's <NO

=p
and if its possible like the poll will auto detect and automatically change there name to srl junior members if its 8-10 yes :D

I thought of something like this when I was a jr. Member. The quiz is way to easy. Leacher could take 5 minutes to read then get in and disappear. It is a good place for things like auto alchers. To simple for SRL members, but proves you can script. I'd take the time to vote on Jr. Member apps.

the quiz is just to get people to read the stickies and not make posts like "how do i download srl :(?" and stuff like that. We already have srl members to vote for. I dont see why we need to limit people coming in more. its not that big of a deal

The point of Junior Members was to try and limit leachers. If all they need to do is take a quiz then they need 5 minutes of work then a lifetime of leaching. A quiz makes it faster and easier to leach. Knowing how to make a VERY basic script would make people learn to script and possibly get the interested in scripting so that they'll contribute to the community.

well i like my idea(maybe when you first register), maybe in addition to the being accepted. because the quiz will get rid of a lot of stupid questions. But it just seems a little extreme to have to accept juniors members. Plus it was suggested when junior members first came out and it was declined

Agreed… A simple quiz, even if it didn't involve scripting, would cut down on a lot of the stupid questions that ppl ask when they could look @ a tut or something & get the answer there…

but , still it will cause leeching ……..

it wont cause leeching. It might even cut down on a little leeching. And leeching isnt a problem you can fix. there will always be leeching. the people that want to script will script the people that dont will find ways around it. Its the way of life. Also, where would they get the info to script? from tuts. Tuts have code. It would probably make stealing a bigger issue and i dont think people are going to constantly go through code and check whether it was copied, for every jm. for members its a lot easier because there are many less apps. All in all i think its just too much work for something that wont do very much. The thing i do think will help is the quiz. Some of the info on the quiz could be related to tuts or something So they would be guided to the tuts and possibly become interested in scripting, but other than that. I dont see the point in junior member apps.

Honestly… I barely read any tuts before members, and a few afterwards. Majority of things I learned is from studying other people's scripts.(practically memorized parts of Sumilion's Power/Rimmington Miner lol..)

Nothing will make leechers go away.

I started as a leecher.
Most people start as leechers.

And the more and more people try to stop something that will never end, the more and more annoying is becomes to the people who use it. (Sound familiar? *Cough* Jagex *cough*)

:S but when they join the forums dont let them SEE ANY FORUMS only, How to become Srl junior member TUT's and what ever else wt fawki would like?

It would be simpler and have the same effect to make SRL Private again.

actually how about have a lil quiz before getting into members? i mean just yesterday 2 apps without script came in.
A quiz to get into JM sounds too much, remember that what is now in JM is what used to be on the free section. it's not really supposed to be hard to access. yes a quiz would reduce stupid posts and stupid apps. but who's perfect?

anyway i do think that the quiz before submitting an app wouldn't be a bad idea at all. but no waiting time if you miss it, you can just restart immediately.

Most likely any kind of decreasing is not a solution.

Has anyone thinked what it was like before the JR Member rank?

Only problem was leeching, but would that really be a problem (my point of view):

a) Do the scripters want their threads filled with "oh noes! SRL.scar doesn't exist!" - that is happening with and without the junior member ship rank.

b) I also think that scripters care more about the feedback, whether it was in form of SRL Stats or a good proggie posted - I don't think that the people who are now giving good feedback, using SRL Stats etc would stop doing it if there weren't the junior rank.

The above creates the picture in my mind - "Leeching and Feedback with or without spam?"

and then they have the respect, privilage to LEECH all they want ?

It's the thing that you just wont do it. You're not a leecher, you don't / wouldn't do it.

If people in high positions would be there because they want scripts, they really wouldn't be there.

w/e atleast they know a bit of scripting so they can have the rights to leech or w/e they want

Every community has leechers; there's no way to make them go away.

The point of junior members is to stop some of the spam, not to give everyone yet another group of people to vote on.

and @smartz im trying to say let them leech after they make a script or w/e the quiz….
and probally in the future they will become scripters like us

they shouldn't need to apply with a script, just apply

Then we can browse over their posts and make our decisions

Dude! Tell me what is your picture of an SRL Member? Its not that the section named "SRL Members Forum" contains some plugin, and thats why there are SRL Members.

Did you feel good when you became an SRL Member because you would access more stuff?

The reason that you should be proud of, is that you were acknowledged, your scripting skills were acknowledge, you were "good" enough to be raised higher from the floor. You got the upper bed for a reason.

It wasn't that you got lucky and got some scripts.

Well I agree that most of us start off as leechers… I was a leecher for like 4 months, stopped using for a couple and then randomly started making scripts lol! Leechers are not so bad, unless there becomes so many using my wood cutter that I end up being banned cause so many people are doing identicle things :p and I doubt jagex will do that. Fakawi says that we need leechers… it's why we are still around while the private communities are not.

However, I do like the idea of making a quiz, INVOLVING some questions about failed when compiling errors and such, cause they are so easy to solve and yet even some of the members (not naming) do not understand them lol. Basic scripting standards and stuff also would be good, since some users don't even know how to fix a 'semicolon' error i mean wtf it tells you what is missing and takes you to it how hard can it be?!

I totally agree with froze (about 10 posts up) when i first joined i didn't know how to script at all then i ran some script and they didn't work perfectly or had one missing feature and i taught my self to fix those small things, now I'm a member.

A small quiz about autoing (what level ,where…) would be good. It wouldn't limit anyone who was actually interested in becoming a junior member and would remove some of the leechers. the questions could be randomly selected from a collection of 200ish. that way no one could easily post a guide to getting in
