Dear R0b0t1,

You have received an infraction at SRL-Forums.

[post]328444[/post]

Reason: Insulted Other Member(s)
——-
Yes, its from me. Try to be respectful to myself, as well as other members. I could probably give you another for bad language, but I won't. keep that in mind.
——-

This infraction is worth 1 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.

All the best,
SRL-Forums

I don't think dipshit is worth an infraction.
Surely not for a respected member like r0bot.
If you feel personally offended by this then you should seek another way of solving this.

I deleted the infraction.

Still it doesn't make sense to give him an infraction for that, and telling him you could give him another one, but that you won't because you are nice?

That's just wrong, threatening with infractions. Didn't read the PM that good. And the post isn't that offensive, only shows his opinion about evolution vs. ID.
Dictators tend to do the same thing, arresting people who don't agree with them, and then threaten them with more punishment…

Well, did he not insult me? That is the question. And the answer is yes, so now you are getting into the question of was it insulting enough?

By saying I could give him another, it was more of a warning. I did not want hate mail to be sent back to me when it was him who insulted me.

Should I have not given it to him? He did break the rules, which you gave us the reponsibility, and I did my job. I probably should have given it as bad language as he did do it.

Feel free to think what you want, keep in mind:

1. He did do exactly what I reported him for.
2. He made the decision to post it, not me.
3. If it would have happened to you, you would probably be more compelled to do it.
4. He has more than made up for it on several pms I have recieved, his constant flaming of my threads, his immaturity, and his attitude I have gotten on msn.

My infraction was not based on his view for intellegent design, it was because of his attitude towards me in the post and nothing else.

Its a sad day when I am given the responsibility to infract to help out, then get insulted myself, not even someone else it was me. I then go to infract for a word for word definition of the infraction, and tell him that I do not want hate mail, then it is taken away when you say it was not insulting enough.

Hobbit found it worthy, he told me to pm him if I had anymore problems.

pwnaz0r

2008-01-24 17:37:20

So what you are saying is that it doesn't matter that you commited the infraction, it's just because it wasn't as harsh to yourself that it isn't worthy? That's just like saying because someone murders someone that you don't know and it was only wrong, he should not be punished for it.

I am starting to think the reason for this post was because of my view on the idea, but that just be my opinion not fact

My point is, i did nothing wrong.

And take a look two posts up, I edited it.

EDIT: I forgot you guys didn't know about our msn conversations, thats the main reason I gave it to him, because he also insulted me on there.

Don't be a little bitch about. Wizzup virtually created the rules so I would assume he knows what the intent was behind him. You weren't punished for anything, you were told that what you did was wrong. The fact that if I was the one insulted that I would be more compelled to do the same thing is the completely wrong mind set for you to have. You should not be compelled by your emotions, you should be compelled by the rules and the intentions behind them.

Should I get an infraction for that?

– You edited the post twice, so I decided to make a new responce.

If you're still doing your job why didn't you give the claw an infraction? A few posts up he said the exact same thing robot said.

I think that as long as an srl member+ or respected person of this forum shouldn't be given an infraction for saying 1 swear word or whatever, only if there completely cussing somebody out and taking a situation extremely personal…etc.

Didn't read the conversation linked too, but from what I've heard he didn't do anything too seriously.

That rule, spamming, and some other rules are more lenient then some of the other rules that should be more strict (posting links to viruses, plagiarism, spammed advertisements…etc.).

I'm probably insulted or disrespected a little bit at least once a week. It's going to happen.

Imo r0b0t deserves a ban, not an infraction. He's been warned multiple times about his annoying spam, yet he ceases to stop. I even asked fawaki to have a word (seeing as every time I politely asked him to stop, he would start being offensive). Fawaki (I trust) has had a word with him, yet he continues!

He's out of control.

r0b0t is not respected in my opinion, because he makes imamture posts. Not one person I have talked to about him thinks so.

However, I kinda do see town's point of me being too picky.

I do not think that you can just change the rules because your are an admin and he shares the same views as you.

You could have contacted me, ask me why, I would have told you and we could have settled this, instead of posting this in the senior members forums as if to say "look I can do this and you can't do anything about it".

That's how it came off to me, but I do see town's point, even though he did call me a bitch.

Just remember that I listen to logic, unlike many other members who would have had this done to them, because I am not stuck up, etc. I want to point that out for the next time someone else has this happen to them.

giving an infraction to an active member that is basically ok when they dipshit is not the best idea , still warnings work great :).

I think what is meant by "insulting another members" is to attack the persons rep when the person has not done anything wrong.

He's making an example of you to all other ssrl members, because we're probably not using our infraction powers the way we were meant to. There's his reasoning for not pming you.

I, for one, have found this thread useful, I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have been so harsh to yanix (who I recently gave an infraction to).

I think we can all agree that r0b0t1 is the biggest spammer in the world… IMO he can beat spam bots at spamming..

Example:

My post-

how are you guys doing.

bot post -
Viagra for only 10 cents! click here to see!

R0b0t1 post-

I like drinking tea while swinging on a roller coaster!

bot post-

R0b0t1 -
My mom made brownies today, and that roller coaster made me sick while I was in bed.

I actually thinks n3ss3s is the root of the problem.

r0b0t never used to be so spamaztic and immature as he is now. And it's been said many time be him that he will be "n3ss3s predecessor"
Yanix as well looks up to n3ss3s because of the spam, over the past 3 or 4 week yanix spams more and more and more.

I see a root cause….. n3ss3s

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against him and never have, but it's the truth.

If we allow n3ss3s to continue as he his, we just show how we have a "Bark" but have almost no "Bite". More people will be continued to be corrupted by n3ss3s and his actions if we don't stop them, because people see it and think that it must be ok if we're letting an SRL Member get away with it.

Town

2008-01-24 21:16:54

I havn't seen N3ss3s make a completely wasted post in awhile. IMHO, he makes too many posts and not all of them are needed, but I don't see him posting something like, "i lold irl". Don't ban anyone just to prove a point. Pull together 5-10 recent posts of Robot1 that are completely irrelevant to the threads they are in and give him a 5-day ban or something. I don't go into the public forums enough to see yanix posting, but you can do the same thing with him.

ZephyrsFury

2008-01-24 21:19:07

I really doubt n3ss3s is causing that much damage. I agree with you that n3ss3s spams way too much but I don't think it is him that is making all the other people spam as well. I don't think he has that much influence over everyone. Besides are suggesting that we ban him or something? He has received infractions for it and I distinctly remember him laughing about it at KYAB. Maybe someone could send him a nice little pm.

Hobbit

2008-01-24 21:36:23

I did not have banning in mind.
n3ss3s is a good person, and I like him, but he is being a horrible example and continues to do so no matter how many infractions he receives. And IMO he is partially the problem, the other part is our fault, as the high powers of the community, by not doing anything to prevent it.

People will always take up the slack you give them, and if the pull the rope tight and very soon after let it go, they will take it and mock your authority and keep taking more until it is too late and your dog is ran over by a truck.

Yes the claw, but I did not because of your views. You probably had not noticed because you did not read, but for the past 2 pages all I had posted about was to keep the subject on task, and not veer off, and continually people would veer off, even when the last post was about not veering of. You did the exact thing I had been saying for two pages straight not to do, as well as the post above it, and I was getting a bit angry to be honest. But to get back on subject (and let's not bring this up here again, pm me about it if you like to talk more).

Now, I do not really think r0b0t needs a ban, but he does need a warning, which is what I believe an infraction is? Some things he has said to me on msn were outrageously out of line, and it is no secret he makes no productive posts and on any of my tutorials, he manages to find something he knows more than me about.. this is everyone, not most, everyone, and he is usually around the first to post =\.

I'm note sure I ever noticed the time where R0b0t1 made usefull posts, and none spam, but I sure as hell have experienced the spam and utterly useless posts by him.

I am also a good friend of n3ss3s. We don't talk often, but we know each other well. I read many of his posts (Unintended, you can't stop bumping into them) and I never really experience anything with a spam-factor as that of R0b0t1.

And I strongly doubt n3ss3s is the root. Actually I don't believe it at all. It takes 2 parts to be affected, and it can impossibly be n3ss3s fault that the others post spam WORSE and more FREQUENTLY than n3ss3s himself.

Let's study a little… Member applications:

R0b0t1: Posts an "epic fail" picture on a guys app, and his script was about average.

n3ss3s: He may use a bot to print the requirements, but atleast he presents his reasons for yes or no and he tells people what they need in order to get accepted.

Study 2… Normal personality:

R0b0t1: Posts weird posts. Generally, he doesn't really speak to anybody or about anything.

Yanix: Insults everybody, even though he may not see it as seriously as it actually is

n3ss3s: He gladly posts the same answer 10 times in a row, but that it only if the question is the same.

Overall, I like n3ss3s better than the other 2… In any situation.
If n3ss3s was their rolemodel, wouldn't they have stopped at the spamlevel of n3ss3s, which is actually decreasing? We have to remember, that just because he gets posts fast, it's not necessarily spam.

It's my bedtime but if anyone else can find like 2 recent posts by n3ss3s that are spam at the same level as R0b0t's… You are Sherlock Holmes…

yanix has always been annoying and arrogant.

n3ss3s yes he is spamming less now, but he was at one point at the same level r0b0t is now. Just because maybe n3ss3 is smartening up a little now, how does that effect r0b0t now that the chaotic spiral has begun, because r0b0t probably has seen it as having no major consequences as of yet, why should he stop?

And IMO, Anyone (for the most part) could get to 10k posts in the next month if they wanted too by not making offtopic posts/spam.

You can always post/add something in/to every thread that's not been locked…

The problem is, n3ss3s doesn't make useless posts, but they're just useful enough to not be spam. And either way, it gives him the pleasure of post count := post count + 1;.

I just don't get why he posts all those pseudo-thingies. He has me (and Wizzup, I believe) added on MSN and most of the time we're on when he is on. But then he makes posts as "use the searchbutton. pseudoclosed", and right after that he sends me the link to close it? Couldn't he just send the link right away? Isn't it a bit backseat modding?
And even though he knows where others should post their spamthreads (which he pseudocloses), he still makes a thread titled "yay!! yay!!" in the general section..

IMO, n3ss3s thinks he's some kind of god because he made a few threads that got stickied in the FAQ section, which would have been the kinds of things mods would have made, and he thinks he's some kind of god because he has 3 cups.

Maybe something should happen at a lower number, not not something as serious as a permanent ban? Maybe post count reset to 0, changed title to like forum spammer, loss of privileges (to the scripts section…etc.), only allowed x amount of posts per day, not allowed to post for x amount of days…etc. at x amount of infractions?

Because somebody with 9 infractions has the same privileges and doesn't get in trouble as somebody with 0 infractions.

Some posts: 1, 2, 3.

But yeah… How did we get from a deleted infraction to n3ss3s again?

Actually I think it's quite good that he is doing that, it saves me alot of work, all I have to do is close the links he gives me. (or not if I don't agree)

About the off topicness, go ahead. I think we have all 'settled' on the infraction discussion.

I'm used to having it where 3 infractions is a 2 week ban. I'd say a move to 5 would actually have some people get banned for it but still putting it out of reach for people that are actually contributing. There's no reason to get 10 infractions : /

And I honestly think that R0b0t1 should get at least a week ban. He deserves some time off.

Maybe the same for n3ss.

And 5 infractions is good for like a 3 day ban or something like that, depending on their position in the community. But I think we should have a minor punishment at 2-3 infractions also. First point is a warning, next 1 or 2 will slap you in the face to show you that infractions actually do something.

Smartzkid

Is it possible to demote someone one level if they reach X active infractions?

For example, Junior member gets 4 infractions -> demoted to registered user until they go for one month without receiving any infractions; SRL member would go to junior, and have to go a couple weeks until they could apply, etc.

If that's not [easily] possible (and I doubt it is), why not 3 or 4 active or 10 active + inactive? 10 seems really lenient.

no ban for n3ss, he has hardly been spamming at all the past month or so. he used to but now he has gotten a lot better

Town

There should be no difference in punishment depending on your standing in the community. N3ss3s should not get a ban unless he deserves one. A ban should be a direct consequence of an action, there should not be a delay between when the offence was commited and when the consequence is given. R0b0t1 is breaking the rules now so he should get his punishment now. If N3ss3s makes a thread that says, "All of your base are belonging to us" then he can be banned too. >.>

Well, so far he's made 31 posts today. He may have added an extra sentence or 2 to his posts to make them seem less spammish/more helpful? I haven't been looking at the quality of his posts though, so I don't know.

All I know is there is no reason to post that much. The admins/moderators don't even post that much. For the most part, there is no reason to have an extremely higher post count than the people running this forum.

I wasn't suggesting n3ss either, I said maybe. But I still think he could post it down a bit.

JAD, it seems to me you just want n3ss3s to get banned. So, what - You haven't ever said something like:

09-08-2007
Don't gravedig!

?

I do that all the time, and so do many others. I see no harm in that. It helps people to understand the rule, and hopefully closes the discussion.
Yea, n3ss3s "pseudocloses" a lot, but again, isn't it only a benefit that he can help closing the useless/gravedigged threads that are flooding around?

I vote for R0b0t1 to be banned, for like a week because he really is going down the drain. He spams 100%, I haven't seen ONE serious post the last 2 weeks. However, n3ss3s, I haven't seen spam from in atleast the same amount of time.

R0b0t1: Temp ban, 1 week preferably.
n3ss3s: Nothing. Not moderator-ship, no ban.

Has anyone tried warning r0b0t? Like send him a serious pm warning him that if he does not stop spamming and being just plain annoying then he will be temp banned? I don't think SRL members can do it cos I don't think he respects us enough but a message from a mod or even an admin might be able to stop him.

I'm confused as to what some of the content in your message meant, but it seems to me you want r0bot banned the same way you think I want n3ss3s banned. You can't base facts on friendship; they aren't facts anymore if you do.

Can me and you both agree that 31 posts in a day is a little over the top and that could have been cut down quite a bit with still helping the community the same amount (meaning he could cut out some spam and go for quality in all of his posts instead of just going for quantity).

n3ss3s posts more than he needs too. Of course, 31 posts in a day being too much is just my humble opinion, doesn't mean you have to agree.

Ok, Although I haven't been on the SRL scene for a while, I did come back to this nice story… and I did read the entire thing…

IMO Posting 35 times a day or posting 5 times a day makes no difference as long as all your posts are helpful… You say that post count doesn't matter in this community yet you also say that posting to much is bad. I do agree that 31 posts of spam is excessive and should be toned down, but if he is posting 31 helpful or at least relevant posts should he not be rewarded rather than punished?

As far as the infraction on Robot1 goes I do not think "dipshit" is worth the infraction. YES it is enforcing the rules, if not very strictly. NO he does not deserve it, but you allowed yourself to be influenced by your emotions and not enough by your reason, which led you to believe that what you where doing was justified do to that fact that it WAS against the rules, but had some other member posted dipshit you would have taken no action had you not felt ill will toward them.

Wizards 3rd Rule - "Passion rules reason."
Wizards 6th Rule - "Let logic be your only sovereign."

Although these are only from a book I hold these rules in high regard, not only do to the fact of my love for the novel from which they came but because I truly believe in them and understand the truth of those words.

I doubt many of you will actually read this entire posts, although I'm sure some of you will or will now since I wrote this, but please… use reason to bestow punishment not emotion…

IMHO

Robot1 - 3 Day Ban
Reason: Excessive Spam; Inappropriate Language; Insulting Another Member;

N3ss3s - Nothing
Reason: He's done nothing wrong, and has CHANGED as we had asked.

Posting a lot doesn't mean you're active… Not saying n3ss3s isn't on here a lot.

And the problem is… I don't even think half of n3ss3s's posts were helpful in anyway. I think they were just to post. Whatever though, I really don't care.
