Possible Anti Leakage?

I have an idea to keep leakage to a minimum. How about, to get S.M.A.R.T we have to PM an administrator, they give us the Embedded SMART.dll with a code. That code is user ID. So, if it gets leaked, we ask can you upload the file to us so we can check if we actually made it and was not a fake, they look at the ID and bam, that person is caught.

I highly doubt though that any member will, but just in case.

Won't work. Already suggested many many times before. Well it's not that it won't work, the fact is, it's just so much more work to make the auth system then anyone wants to do.

Oh no, what i meant was to have a hidden code in a line of the embedded smart.dll.

Not an authorization system.

Oh I think I get it now, you want a line put in every smart that says the username that it was given to? Uhhhh, an auth would be less work to do then that. This would require constant upkeep and changing the file EVERY time. Auth would be hassle to set up but way less hassle to maintain.

I don't see either way being secure or efficient enough to work. All someone would need to do is decompile is and edit out that line.

Personally, I don't think BenLand or anyone is concerned with SMART being leaked enough to do anything about it more than discourage people from handing it out and banning those who are caught (beyond reasonable doubt) unless it's being sold. From what I understand it was intended to be for public usage, but you know how that works, you get 1 person that disagrees higher up and it sways half the community…

It is never safe to speculate on that of which you do not know.

You expect me to believe that it's a coincidence?

What is? That SMART wasn't released to public? It initially wasn't even going to be released to members. Like I said above…

No, that SMART is insecure. If it wasn't intended to be public then it would be much much harder to obtain, punishments would be more serve, mostly there would be a stronger security system in place such as authentication. Of course, unless that's only a coincidence.

So, Members are bunch of newbs who you can't trust…Yeap!
It has been leaked at least 3 times when it's been in members[including mine]…:(

So, we are low class noobs…and Hobbit is racist:p

Edit: How long takes to write source to dll, like 2 secs right? and when doing this dll gets new MD5 code, so only problem is finding person who got time to write down every person name who he gave it, and MD5 code…

Well, it's never going to happen btw, Benland would have done it already if he wanted an auth or something

Sorry, but my suggestion: no threads about anti-leakage until Wizz's idea comes to effect (if the poll got more yes than no..).
