Please keep all your questions and concerns in this thread and they will be answered ASAP. Also a FAQ will be regularly updated in here.

Please refer here or the F.A.Q. below before asking a question to prevent questions being asked repeatedly

F.A.Q.
Q: When should you be allowed to vote?
A: You should not vote on applications as soon as you get into SRL Members. Wait a couple of weeks and see how others are taking the applications and learn.

Q: What is someone answers "yes" to "Are you affilated in anyway with Jagex LTD?"
A: They will probably be joking, if they have only a few post and an amazing super script, then they maybe be serious and vote accordingly.

* If you aren't going to give the application a fair chance, then don't vote. You should not be voting yes or no just for the sake of voting without any thought going into the vote.

Q: What if they didn't post a script?
A: Report the post, moderators will deal with it. DO NOT spam the thread with posts or your head will be eaten!

Q: On a bad application (eg: "hello world") what should I do?
A: Report the post, link the applicant to the requirements thread and explain why his application is a bad one.

Q: Am I allowed to flame the person applying if they copy a script or don't post one at all?
A: NO! Flaming anybody in any application for anything just makes our community look immature, and overall bad. Flaming may also lead to you getting an infraction. Handle the situation maturely and report to a moderator, but don't flame.

Q: What if I don't know the person who is applying?
A: You don't need to know them. Sometimes it is better to not know them personally to remove an bias' there may be.

Q: What if you hate the person applying?
A: Don't vote. If you honestly believe the person would not be a good member then you may post your reasons why in a polite way.

Q: What if it is not an RS script?
A: Judge it as another kind of script. If you think the script is not complex enought then vote according to your thoughts. RS scripts are the usual in applications, but not a must.

Q: What if it is not a SCAR/Simba Script?
A: A SCAR/Simba script is a must for SRL Members, as this is a group for those who have shown profficiency in scar scripting.

Good point, I've seen people come in here and start accepting anything that compiled.

I waited like 2 weeks before I voted for the first time on an application. I waited till I was ready and till someone worthy came.

Or give instant no, even their own script wasn't better…And give stupid reasons…Im currently talking about 1 specific person…
As I remember, I didn't started voting when I got in aswell…looked from other apps how to judge…most of "us" do that, some not

Something along the lines of that would be a good thing to add :)

Then too bad for you, don't vote. You're not high enough to vote based on personal agenda… Sorry.

What if the application script is for SS and you believe that it takes away the complexity of scripting? Is that a good enough reason to vote no?

Hobbit

If you truly believe it is not good enough, then yes.

Just use your good judgment. These rules aren't going to stop people from being idiots.

On a bad member apply and there already have posted a person before me. i'm mostenly thinking. report the thread or not? so basicly my qeustion. do you guys care if the thread has been reported more then ones?

Hobbit

2008-01-27 15:20:52

Report it just in case.
If a thread is reported more then once is doesn't create a new report, it just adds on to the existing one.

Jackrawl

So Pinky doesn't hurt anyone by spamming reports?

Edit, June 28, 08:
What if we don't know the person who is applying?

major grave dig :p, my fault though, I misread this thread and showed rasta thinking he wrongfully closed something that he didn't. I'm stupid when I'm tired :p can't read right.

good point, never really thought they called it a gravedig just because it's far back on the pages, just called it that because it's old and dead. :p well anway, I think that's a good Q/A to add but I think we should change the rule for getting members. I think people can be very skilled and help the community a lot without knowing SCAR, such as C++, which makes plugins for scar. This came from a java appliance, and I'm mentioning C++ but I think you get the point, not everyone knows pascal and some people are talented in other ways which can help the community. Up to you guys to consider it or not.

Q: What if they say their referrer is 'Google'?
A: As of right now there is no one with the name "Google", so that is not a proper reference.

We may need to change this one, as there is a GOOGLE that is applying for members status (and not just someone with the google username as Daniel pointed out)…
