I've been surfing these forms for a bit, and ive noticed somthing. People Love Calling Others Leechers/Noobs. A person who only want to use other peoples scripts for thier own gain are leechers right? well i wonder, how many of the great programers here got thier start by having a want they did not know how to fufill? I know that i started scripting because i wanted to make bots do things in rs tht i found boring (i.e. resorce gathering). I fell in love with it becuase i have some time on my hands, and thats is just my personality type. I bet lots of you are just the same. But what about people who want to bot, but dont have the time, resorces, or drive to script on their own? are they bad because of that? I understand how annoying it is to have 20 views, but no comments on a freshly posted script, but do it call for name calling, and flaming those who we once were? i say that there is not harm done. and if you realy hate leachers, dont post your scrips outside of member areas.

yer but a leecher is where the take someone's work, and use it without commenting back, im a prime example
i cant script for crap (even thought i tried a while back) but the only way i get around is by posting proggies and bugs, if u post in the thread and give good feedback then ur not a leecher are you?
a leecher is the same as coming to this forum, downloading ever script and leaving the forum think of it like that

Not physically, but in a certain way it hurts the evolution of a script.
Leecher comes and downloads a script, runs it and finds a bug, he just thinks it's a crappy script.
Now if he would have posted the bug, the writer might have fixed it and make it more stable for everyone.
Same goes about posting progress reports, if nobodyposts them, how can the writer know if it works good or not.

And its also sort of an insult to the person who put a lot of dedication and hard work to make a script and someone just downloads it without even a proper thank you.

Spamming like this is immature, if you really appreciate someones work, you have to take some time and write a good response, post bugs, give feedback. That way the scripter feels that "at least people appriciate my script", and he gets encouraged to work on the script and improve it. I have not seen anyone calling someone a noob or a leecher unless they deserve it. This forum has strict rules about flaming others without any reason and no dedicated member goes against those rules. Also all the scripts you see in the free for all section is for registered users. No member is obliged to release scripts in the free for all section but they still do it. The least they deserve is a proper well constructed thank you. However there are some people who just takes a script and never even look back at SRL, do you really think that they deserve those scripts?
I know that we all were leechers once, we wanted only scripts and leave but many people like myself got encouraged by seeing others make scripts and started LEARNING to make scar scripts. Maybe oneday I can be one of the many great scripters in this forum…

You'll be fine following these:

• If you want to use a script, say thank you, and after using it tell how it went. Remember to use SRL Stats if the script has got one.
• Don't post stupid stuff like mentioned above - "yay!" etc
• Go to tutorial island and read the How To Be a Noob etc, and act the opposite of them.

I see, i guess i havent posted enough scripts yet to understand…

don't worry, you'll undter stand this forum by 50 posts, untill then all the noob calling in leecher doubing might not make sense.
just keep reeading and learning you'll get it.

In my eyes… if you really wanted to stop leaching you could just make all the scripts available only to members and above. That would save it for all the dedicated ones.

but it can be done;

for beginners they let them release 1 script and than they try to apply for members(make a forum for beginners)

If you ask stupied questions that have already been answered, but to lazzy to search for, you are a noob.

If you beg for scripts, with < 20 posts, you are a noob.

If you have never once attempted to try and script, you are a noob.

waze, exactly what i had in mind when i started this post. if you dont like leeching, dont post to free/ jr area. just post 2 mems, and then you wont have to complain about bad feedbak anyway. but i also can see how its is a little disrespectful just 2 grab a script sum1 worked hard on, and not even egnolege thier work… i can c both sides

Whew…I have tried scripting, and I can't figure out for the life of me! haha, but I'll keep lookin at the tut's! And I disagree with the concept of leeching, meaning I hate them… I may be new, but I hear about them all the time, and it's getting on my nerves….so cut it out!

Well i think anyone who got some experience with other programming languages, like c ie. wouldnt have big problems to programm with scar.
My only problem would be the time(which is mentioned above somewhere), iam too busy with everything at the moment and cant find much time for anything ;).
