Okay, next!
I think this one would be ideal for my needs:
www.jimmspc.fi/tuote/JIMM-C2D-BG-R2?classid=10Words you may need to know:
Yes = Kyllä
No = Ei
Rinnakkaisliitäntä in raw translated = side-to-side plugnage
Its pretty expensive atm, but the price'll go down enough in no time :)
mm… maybe if this little… incident would happen… yes… and there would be… smoke damages :p Jk/Jk

Intel's Core2Duo has better prestations for the same price.
But can't you get a cheaper HDD, in exchange for a better graphics card? For 50 euro's more you can get yourself a Ati X1950 Pro, which is around 3 times as fast as the 8400GT:

About the XP/Vista question: you can upgrade, but most programs don't like it…

I'm talking of grabbing vista from the legs and smashing it to the wall, installing XP over it, not using Vista :p

Hehe,
Wizzy now agrees ^^, according to my C knowledge. But he forgot a ) ;)
@N3ss3s: possible, format c: ftw.
edit: No cheating please Wizzup XD Quickly adding a ) to the code ^^

http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/com/support/downloads.html Use that to see if XP drivers are available.

Second one: XP install is possible, you just have to go a couple places for drivers and slipstream for drives.

Thank you Boreas, though the computer I am now looking at is an Acer… Any comments on it btw? The link is in the first post.

As for specs, from what I can tell, it looks fine. You can always add another gig of RAM if you really need to, which I doubt you will. HD space can always be added or an external drive, again I doubt you will need it unless you are gonna do a lot of movies or something. Graphics wouldn't do the latest and greatest games with all the bells and whistles, but it will do a lot. As for connectivity, its got about everything you would need. The big thing to remember with desktops is, for the most part, if you don't like something, you can change it fairly easily.

Eh. Or you could make your own computer, and completely customize it with w/e you want, at about 3/4 the price ;)

I was about to say that :p
Or, with somewhat "larger" businesses, (at least in the US) they do some sort of computer "wipe" every year… They just throw all of the current computers out, because some deal they do with the government makes it cheaper. Dumpster diving ftw.

I am slowly starting to think more and more that Countries Teh Members From > Finland, lol.. Its cheaper there, sun shines etc.
EDIT: How much do the Ghz's mean, like is a 2.2ghz dual core intel better than a 2.6ghz amd x2 or what?

2008-01-08 12:39:20
AMD X2 is also dual core, so the 2.6 is better. As for comparing dual core to single, you can't really. Dual 1.3 is not the same as single 2.6, but nowadays everything is dual core anyway, and pretty much any dual core is fine for most uses. RAM is usually a bigger factor.

Yeh, not comparing dual to single, but what does that shit threw at amd / amd shovelled up my a** mean concretically? (except for hardware in my stomach)
Also Boreas, any comments on the new one in the first post?

This is #3? 512mb for gfx, 2gb ram, and a dual core proc is fine. Not for crazy high end games like crysis, but fine for your uses. I can't tell about vista/xp, ask Jimm.

Yeah, atm I'm on:
nVidia GeForce 6600 (No I wont let you kiss it)
1024mb RAM
and…. *drumroll* AMD Athlon 64 3800+ ! Yay! :p omg lol
so, RAM doubled, processor doubled, umm, can't say doubled about gfx…

well, if you manage to get SLI working on the 6600's [if you manage to get another one(I think sli works for them)], its possible to boost your computer's graphics level to the equivalent of a high-end 7 series.
