What will it do?
It will chop yews and bank them in a number of places.

Why is it called Variable Yew Chopper?
It will chop in variable places therefore the name.

So where does it chop now?
As of 13 October 2007 there are 6 locations (excluding PowerCutter).

Release :
The VYC used to be a pay script. All together it cost 2000k. However Lorax and I are getting more and more things on our hands, so we decided to stop selling it on 1 december and release it on 31 december as a present for the new year. For the record, this was already planned before the RWT update from jakex.

History :
It all started when Lorax started a developers competition, much like the team scriptings competition held recently. Lorax and I teamed up and we created a willow cutter, the PSWW (Port Sarim Willow Whacker). While we were making that we got the idea to create a yew chopper that would chop nearly everywhere on free places. Eventually, after a long time of testing, creating, editing, deleting, we got it going. The first sale was on February 25, 2007. After a while we needed an own forum. Our single thread (mainly on mopars) was getting annoying to follow. This was the result. We had much time to grow on there and so we did. However, on all good things come an end.

Money Making :
Yes, one of the big reasons why we made this script, was money. We sure accomplished in getting that. As of today we have approx. 130 buyers, lets say every buyer bought for approx. 1400k, that would be 182000k, or 182m.

The auth system on the VYC is still intact.

Believe it or not, but I decided to make a simple Draynor Willow Banker, just to script a little bit again, less walking etc, should be a nice practice script.. and now I've got access to see the most advanced chopping functions… just great!!

If you'll notice, the paths are drawn from the bank to the yews.

It DOES powercut…. however ! :

The VYC is and will always mainly be a Yew cutter. So it can only powercut tree's that the script thinks look similar to yews … That would be all f2p tree's except for willows afaik…

So it will probably work, but there are probably better powercutters available..

Yes as Sumilion said it is primarily an yew cutter therefore that has been our main target to optimize the woodcutting for yews.. Powercutting is a second priority.. If it stood to me there would be no powercutting - we had some discussions on this matter :)..

Also a little funny story:
Jagex or a supporter group found our site when it was released under freehostia and they mailed the administrator which had no choice but to shut us down.. Like one week later we got a new site running on www.mageprojects.com, which they cannot shut down.. great effort Jagex :)

Yes it's my brothers domain and he bought that reseller account so whoever Jagex sends those letters to, they will think twice before shutting it down ;)

I was never really backing up much at that time. I had a backup from all the auths of about a week or two old, so we didn't lose that much, we did lose the entire forum and every account / post on it.

It only made us stronger.

EDIT: SRL logged 116k logged yews at this time by the VYC ^^. I can imagine lots of people that bought it dont even use SRL stats so it's not even the entire stuff =D

This script really is a god… almost perfect. It could be optimized for a little better speed (as in, don't do something like "for I := 0 to Length(ArrayHere) - 1 do", but rather "L:= High(ArrayHere); for I := 0 to L do" [no offense]). But other than that, this script is nearly perfect. I've gotten a lot of geepeez out of this :)

SRLPlayerForm was released later than VYC form due to SRL 4.0 being delayed, but I made SRLPF first.

Bullzeye95, I have known of that "optimization" for quite a while.. But in my mind it looks kind of messy and it's completely unecessary, plus in plugins doing a := 0 to High(b) do is faster than memorization..
For us it is just a matter of choice and we chose beauty, at least I did.. If Sumilion says he didn't know about it I am afraid he hasn't read the Devs forums, because I think it was one of the new devs who posted about this a couple of months ago.. btw the devs forum doesn't exist.. or whatever..

By we know now I meant since that post, which apparently was in a non-existing dev section. However I didn't know about that, or at least I didn't thought about it at the time I made most of those for loops. I believe that post in the dev section came later.

Thats a (afaik) common thing in scar … it has something to do with firewall I believe, perhaps search on freddy1990.com ?

you could go into tools -> options and go to the firewall and filewall tabs and click 'Allow All' bubble…

I believe I did that long ago… Let's pray I didn't.

Ok, here's the deal… After I start the script, it cuts 2 loads then does a relog (I guess). But when it tries to log in there, it types nothing, goes to type in password, and types nothing again. What's causing this?

I don't think thats true. I agree on the rest though. In SCAR you don't need it. Especially when the tree finding is already < 100ms.

AFAIK that's a problem in smart… if you're sure your Smart.scar is correct then restart scar + smart and try again..

Once again I think it is probably a smart problem ..

Could you try to run it on the normal RS client ? If it still won't login then there is a serious problem with SRL / Scar / VYC .. otherwise it is smart, either not properly installed or a bug.

It was in there to stop people from spreading the script and using one account … it would be 'controllable', but do we need it now that we don't sell it anymore and now that we have released the source… no :)

Because my friend(And I guess me but I don't use the pay one anymore) is wanting it.

its really laggy while choping the tree, it realizez its gone fast, and writes "tree gone continueing" but then its like 3 seconds b4 it does anything. and its pretty laggy overall.

Don't know if you've fixed this yet, but the version number says 1.01 in the 1.02 I downloaded.

I know I am very new to´the members section, but I have not seen a script with such good standards and, well, everything. But, maybe, there is a small chance I might catch up to you guys eventually (looking at longitivity) *keeps on dreaming* I might run this script later on :D

edit- yew chopping works. i guess it only screws up power chopping

Erm, I have a problem, somehow it compiles, but then, SMART does not start or anything but it says that it has been compiled and script is running. I wonder whats the problem, anyone got ideas?

awesome script guys now that i actually have 1 player that can use it!

been using the past couple nights and i must say its very good. ive gotten around 1.5k - 2k yews in the past 2-3 nights with 1 player.

i dont have any progress reports b/c my scar always crashes but my best one that is recorded in the form is 3+ hrs i believe, but i can't get it right now b/c it is running and when i minimize scar the forums goes behind scar and doesnt appear…but working on getting more players to 60 wc to use this…also got me from 61 to 66 wc

i did edit the script a tiny bit…as you can see the rate was about 90 or so logs an hr…i put breaks in between each time it logged out…so after a nextplayer i put wait/sleep(10000 + randomrange(1000, 30000). so it paused bewtween 10 minutes and 40 minutes after each log
