Sick and Tired of Advertisements on My Forum!

I am SICK AND TIRED of advertisements on my forum.

No, I am NOT talking about the ones that help pay for this site.

I am talking about the SCAMS like bux.to and anything else related to clicking ads, or filling out surveys, or completing offers.

Look, I hate ads with a passion, they are utterly pointless and piss me off more than spam because I can't delete your bloody post!

They are NOT constructive to this forum in any way, they have nothing to do with rune scape, scar, scripting, or anything as far as helping each other out.

They are posted souly for SELFISH reasons alone. YOU are trying to make money for yourself, and you are ABUSING this forum for your own personal gain.

This forum is not here as a free advertising service, it is not here to help you get referrals, it is here to help people automate runescape.

It angers me every time I see any post about a site like this, and I strongly feel that they harm this forum, and they make me want to stop visiting. They distract from the atmosphere of this forum, and RUIN it.

I charge every single person who has posted ANY link to a site like I have mentioned to DELETE your post immediately.

I also politely ask anyone with the power to delete it for them to help them out if they can't find that button, and delete it yourself.

I will be reporting any posts like this as "useless" to make sure my signature shows my disdain, if you don't like being called a noob in my signature, remove your post, and I will remove you.

I agree.

And especially if people hide it in a post, like the thread where you linked to this in, in the way "So, register here" with their ref link.

But, if one is in their signature, then I don't think its anything so bad, its their own sig space, and it doesn't spam the forum :)

I agree. Placing a link in your signature is perfectly fine. But never make a new post about it, or spam it across the forum.

but yes, as long as it is not offencive (like a link to a child porn or terorist site) then it is fine in you signature.

(as long as you obey the sig law, don't have a sig that is longer than ure average post, etc)

Agreed!

I don't like people, generally, posting that they need money and "please sign up using this link SomeMoneySite.com/Ref=SomeName" and that bullshit. If people need money, they should get them themselves. I've thought about using these money sites, but I decided not to, because I don't trust them. The money sites probably earn tonnes on naive users who want free money. Everybody knows that nothing is for free. If you get something for free, you have probably done something to earn that trust and friendliness.

Links in sigs are fine, still. But I don't like people begging, and I don't like the money sites in general. And I hate all the damn tutorials about "How to get free RS-Members" and all the other ones. No one is getting a tut cup for linking people to their own referral on a site that doesn't pay out.

n3ss3s got the tutorial cup for tutorials, not for writing "SomeMoneySite.com/Ref=n3ss3s".

King Of Knives - Is it about the tut cup?

A little about my self. I feel a need to defend myself, because I feel this thread is directed at me.

I am 15, without a job or anything. I guess you could call me a little leecher here, but I try my best. I want to donate to this site (and spork-eh.com) because I think it is the easiest way to help.

I think all in all, my post was a little misleading. But I promise, even if someone does eventually close my thread, I will donate to this forum. I have no other way. I do not know how to make scripts, so this is the only way I have at donating to the community.

I don't care if you don't believe me, or whatever. As long as you know…

its nobel of you wanting to donate to this forum. that is fine.

it's good that you want to help out this site, that is great and fine too, and I am glad it is helping you so much.

This post isnt directly directed at you, im sorry if it feels that way, this is more the "breaking the camels back" thing. To many of these things have been posted recetly, this one was enough for me to decide to make a post about it.

I still encorage you to remove your link.

but it doesnt make the advertisement ok.

post links in your sig. not in a post.

Do they really even have to be in the signature?

Here's the way I think it should be…

If you're going to have a link for a pay-to-click/complete offers website, do it because you want to help people make money. (Or "get free scunerape members" garbage, as so many of these links state.) Don't try to sneak in your referral link. If you really want to a greedy leech, then do this: Place a link to the website in your signature, but don't put in the referral code. Above the link, put in big bold letters that you would like it if people could please use your referral, instead of letting the sign-up go to waste. This way, you're not out anything because people who feel nice enough to use your referral will, and people who don't won't have to bother taking the code out.

Anyone feel the same?

LordGregGreg

2007-12-26 13:44:22

that sounds perfectly fine.

as long as they also [post in the right section, it has nothing to do with SRL or SCAR.

(no matter what they say the money is for)

I am starting to notice that I get mentioned in peoples posts more and more… creepy… :p Jk/Jk

Also, gotta agree with knives/ I think I know what he meant, it really wasn't a tutorial the guy posted, more like beg for money.

It's because you subconsciously want people to mention you in their posts. You see, we're not really here. You're sitting in some virtual reality seat at Chuck E. Cheese, 100 years in the future. The only reason you're reading this right now is because the forces of the universe (of which you created) are making this appear for you.

And whats wrong with people making money when you are not? They shouldn't be using the forums to advertise, yes, but you sound like the greedy one trying to keep them from making money.

Touché.

2008-01-05 03:16:12

Mm… You should go back to pointless humor, R0b0t.

Posts like the one you just made are boring as heck it ain't even funny :)

[Ontopic/]

It would be different if it was just one or two sigs that didn't try to sneak in their referral code. But it's not. It's signature upon signature of these things, and all the "tutorials" on how to "get free rs membership" :|

2008-01-05 03:57:15

Right on…

The links should be in the sig. Why not make one with the referral and one without. Let the people decide.

Just thought I would throw this in..

To get $10.00 from viewing ads. 0.01 per add (30 secs to view add), that is 300,000 seconds, or 5,000 minutes or 83.33 hours, or 3.472 days. That is a lot of time doing nothing just for $10.00.
