SRL Members should be invite only.

As alot of stuff from the SRL members section has been leaked to the public I think that to become a SRL member you have to be invited by a high member of staff. This will make things better for 2 reasons.
1. Should stop leaking
2. People will try harder and be a better help to the commmunity
Or instead of a high member of staff say you have to earn 25 credits and to earn the credits a SRL member has to press a button like the rep system. then when they hit 25 points they go to SRL memebers.
Thanks Alot,
Aidan

A high member of staff has two options - admin or mod.

Well this would need to be done so that it would kind of support the re-apply idea, but that the people would be "re"-invited instead of themselves re-applying, but I don't know how many people support that =/

Also, the application system is a big part of the economy, people who apply with a script but it doesn't fill the requirements or just isn't good enough learn a lot when they get told the requirements and linked to tuts etc.

I'd have nothing directly against the idea, but it does contain a few flaws. If a high member of staff doesn't like someone for personal reasons (Though they should be able to look away from personal feelings), they might have a lower chance of getting in. And not to speak of the high staff members. Their workload would multiply many times. They already have to constantly check the forums, close/move threads from peoples wishes, close/move threads because it was posted a wrong place or has a content they don't like, investigate and ban rulebreakers and all the dozen of other things they do. If they had to invite people too… I simply don't think they'd want it. But that's just my guess. I don't know how they feel.

well, honestly, i think all srl members should reapply, just to clean the system a bit;)

Have it like RSR back then, that you need a certain amount of reputation and posts(?) before you can apply.

Well Staff members can deny membership to anyone, so it wouldn't be any different for the "Personal feelings" thing. Like Home and Star, Star barred home from SRL Member b/c Home and a few other people cracked his esse miner. But Home and Star made up so thats why Home was able to become a member.

But this would be too much work to maintain if it was invite only.

True.

Also, one thing -

Almost nobody gives rep unless very good release or asked to, and its against SRL's rules to ask for rep =/ Too much changes and maintaining as Hobbit said.

And I don't see how that would stop leaking. You can't pick out the leakers. They could be the best scripters ever. For all we know, the leaker could be WT-Fakawi! (Well, maybe not him, but you know what I mean :p)

Dankness told me he was the leaker, but said I should keep quiet.

Also, don't support the idea. Then people can't get in through their scripting skills. You have to be friends with someone.

Yeah, and isn't the 50% meaning of SRL Members section a better learning environment? Since the other 50% is ofcourse phr33 g33p33z…

Instead of giving out cups…they just grant membership? Or is it not possible for Non-Members to get cups?

Hobbit

2007-12-23 01:35:02

As of right now, it is not possible for anyone lower then SRL Member to get a Cup. Though there are 2 exceptions. Usually if we feel they deserve a cup and aren't a member they get automeberzed…usually. But we are discussing making a registered user/Junior member cup set

Dude! I got a tut cup by writing a tutorial about how to use the search button, it kind of feels weird that somebody could get to members by that :p

Hobbit

2007-12-23 02:58:30

Ok, well not the tut writers cup.

Like if they get scripters cup or helper bear they usually get automemberised, but thats only happened like 5 times.

This seems like a pretty bad idea. Because you could just have one leecher whos acting under a facade. ALSO I APPLIED ABOUT 8 times and ive learned alot from that feedback. I don't have anything against this to go in place.

Hmm you mean like this?

Pwnage Script SomeOne

blabla

if use this script then rep+ me!!!!!!!!!!!!

and people who get some cup, and who are lower than SRL member usually get acces to members forum by some vbulleting bug…ex dwas-woot was junior member, he had tutorial writer cup and i saw hes post at smart section..he was auto memberized

Well actually it's good idea, but I would be one who won't get in….

I voted no.
Admins shouldn't have to filter people out, thats the community's job.

Gah, you missed the point there, all the inactive members would be moved to registered users, there is maybe 20? 30? of us active members.
