How did SB do that thingy with the IP addresses?

Well, if you look at his thread, it says it can only be used on one computer with one Internet Protocol address. Any ideas on how this is done? (And how can I get it to ignore the subnet address?)

Also, he says the script updates itself. I'm trying to think of how it can do this, as if it tries to erase and rewrite the .scar file, won't it get an error because a program is using it? Does using openfile's share argument fix this?

A lot of things Starblaster claims about his auth system is to scare his noob buyers from sharing the script, some of them are infact real though.

Use a get page call from SCAR to a internet website that returns an IP then have SCAR save it to place very hard to find on your HD…

I think it only updates strings and possibly integers (colors) by using GetPage to fill the string in BitMapFromString(GetPage…) or FindColor(StrToInt(GetPage(…))… ect..

You'd probably have to ask him yourself to find out about his auth system but I doubt he will tell you considering it affects the well being of his product…

I think per user he saves the IP.
If the IP that the auth sends ($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']) is not LIKE ( or just = ) of those IP's, he sends a negative signal back, which means no run.

Oh. I think I see.

So he can just use netstat when he sends them the file or something like that, and his updater only changes the variables used for autocoloring etc?

I'm guessing his auth system is just some hashed passwords in a .php file.

It is simple to make an auto-updater. I'm sure dark_sniper still has his tutorial somewhere. I believe it used GetPage('encrypted web page here'), and downloaded the string into a .scar file. Seems simple enough, but maybe SB used something else.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, but as to make it user-friendly, I figured he would try to make it DL to the same file. I don't know if Delphi applications share files like the the IDEs of most programming things do. (Go into Delphi 7SE and open a proj. Change the proj. out of the IDE, and it changes it in the IDE)

Like programs like notepad show something like this: Message Box:"The file has changed outside of the application. Update? Y/N"

SCAR does that.
