How did you learn how to script and how long did it take you to get good at it?

Well I actually haven't read a single "how to script" tutorial, that tells you everything, I learned everything one by one, first I saw someones autotalker in sythe that had just a SendArrowSilentWait and a SendKeys. Thats where I learned SendKeys and Strings, slightly modding it and fixing errors of mine.
Then, there was a link in someones sig to some site that had about basics of pascal, well all I learnt was Repeat Until(False), learned further boolean usage later.
While loop I know, but haven't used it almost at all.
For loop I learned pretty late, and then I've read tuts about DDTMs etc, but the best way you can learn is by experiencing IMO.

Learned the basics from myself and the SCAR Manual.
After that I came here and read some tut about bitmaps, and all other stuff is either tuts or looking at other peoples stuff :)

I learned by trial and error. My friend and I started by looking at some scripts and trying to edit them. It took me about a month to learn most of the basic techniques. Soon after that, I started making tutorials. They helped me learn even more things (I realized I didn't know what something was so I was forced to look it up).

I read the manual and looked at some standards from other scripts…That's about it, to get good enough to make like an RS script with Auto-Colour…Maybe 2 weeks?
