Jagex seriously considering RS on Game consoles?

Below is the latest poll.
There was a thread discussing this awhile ago but it was passed off as Jgex wouldn't do it. Well looks to me like they are starting to consider it more.
Questions I'd like to know is..
Do you think they will do it?
How will they do it?

IMO RS's interface is too complecated to be transfered to any game console out there right now. I think if they do go ahead and make console versions, the interfaces will be completely revamped and that they'd connect to servers for other consoles and have whole separate network then from PC's

Discuss.

Either that, or they just want to find out what games are best to copy features from.

I don't think a mobile phone version of the game would pay off; not enough people own phones with strong enough processors to run a MMORPG.

A console version would definitely be cool; because of the similarities between consoles and computers, it could spell the entrance of a true computer version (as in, you download and install, then run it full screen).

I don't think it'd be too hard to fit the game for a console; voice chat, npc's with voices instead of text, partial transparent unclickable minimap; you'd be left with two interfaces: the mainscreen and all objects within, and the inventory and all related panels. A button could switch between the mainscreen and other panels, and you could navigate them with them two little joysticks.

I think it would be a pretty sick game.

Dear god no… I don't even want to see RS make it to consul or if they do I should get some $$$. A long time ago during RSC I told a few Higher - ups that RS should go platform and that if would be a big thing in the future. Of course starting out they didn't have enough $$$ for it so they turned down the idea. I've always told them too and now that I'm finally "gone" from RS they decide to make it a consul version… Gah! Also I would make it for Wii, I mean in Oprah decides to put Java on their browser I'd play RS on that just because its kewl, but do to the general audience of Nintendo I think a Wii version would be best.

Well, I doubt they ever would manage a console > pc relationship, so the website players probably won't be able to play with the console players.

But even if they do make it into a console game, tell me honestly, how many of you have internet working on your consoles? How much will it cost? Will it have the same graphics as in-game? Will you need a monthly cost?

I don't have internet on my console because I only have a ps2 and it's a pain in the ass to get internet on it :D

RuneScape would actualy play quite easily on a console… I mean, I'm sure someone out there has figured out how to run a JVM on a PS2, its not really hard. I think sun even supports a java version for the processor family in the ps2… Graphics might take some work, but otherwise… Only problem I see is that you almost need a mouse and keyboard to play RS, and the way RS works, they could not "update" rs unless they got a fully fledged jvm for the console of choice. I think it would make them a huge profit really, not only from selling coppies, but from the shear number of people who would buy membership (I assume there would be no "free" console version) because it is a console game verses a computer game.

Edit: I read about a JavaONE confrence where they discussed Java on the PS2, but thats been like 5 years ago now… It could be entirely possible to play rs on the ps2, you'ed just need a keyboard and mouse at the moment…

PS2 doesn't have that much of RAM, and a 233mhz processor, so I doubt it's at some playable speed.
It is possible to play RS at a PS3, if you install Linux on it :)
