I have nothing against the 65% that SMART + SCAR is using atm, Im running on AMD Athlon 3400+ (1.99ghz) and after christmast I am buying a new computer, so is Dual Core going to run it for ~30% or even less?

Doubt it. I have the same processor on one of my computers except it is 2009mhz :P and it runs at 65% also, which is about 1.6ghz it is using. It depends on the dual cores clock speed. Remember a 2ghz Dual core IS NOT a 4ghz processor.

I would say if you had a 2.5ghz+ dual core I would say 40-50%

=) AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ costs 100-150€ and is 3GhZ =)

Though after christmas I don't have to buy a Hüber (Hyper über) processor separate, prices go a lot down in January, more Kenshingtons coming etc…

Im looking at one that has Intel Pentium D 915 (2.8Ghz), but it has Intel GMA graphics card and Im not sure can it be changed… But I'll look at the computers in January, lot new stuff comes :)

either way runs 20% on mine ( 9 GB virtual memory )

Don't forget, RS tries to get as much CPU as it can, you probably can run another one and still be able to use a webbrowser at the same time without much lag.

I've got a Pentium 4 2.4GHz w/ 510 MB RAM running on a Dell, and running one uses ~70% CPU usage with a webbrowser running. Running two uses 80%-90%, but I usually just run one because two makes too much lag on this 4 year old computer (Dell Dimension 4600).

I hate java, I haven't tested, but I can probably run 2 or 3 SMARTs, I'm not sure how much CPU each one takes.

Uses 85% here. At other computer (E6300) it uses 30%.

i have a 3.4 ghz pent 4 w/ 1gb ram and it was at 60% if i remember correctly

I can run 4 + a VM as I found out today. Though I don't recommend it, and I can run 4 vm's stable, usually 21-26%.

Im looking at a 699€ computer with 2gb ram (I can add my own 1,5 to it :) ) , nVidia GeForce 7500 TurboCache (256mb), 500gigs HD, AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (3Ghz :) ) and other cool stuff…

One takes about 70% for me :o! Wtf, this computer is brand new…

I usually run 2, and that takes 95-100% of my CPU :D I don't care. Only using 1 now, though.

Pentium D's are crap. Get a Core 2 Duo; AMD's smoke all previous procs.

Can anyone answer me why my CPU Usage is fucking 50% when running NOTHING!? No VM, no SMART, No SCAR no Internet, no game no nothing! Not even mousemovement. Is a 2 month old computer supposed to do that + having irregular freezes?

Look at what process's it starts in startup…

I found that my Virtual PC's that I deleted due to the release of SMART take up less CPU usage.

Before I could run 3 VM's and play Halo PC,
now I run 2 SMARTS and live with the minor lag I get from Halo PC.


I dont want to re-install 3 VM's :p

I just got a new Core2Quad 6600 CPU and motherboard for $198 on sale after Thanksgiving. :) I've been collecting all the other components, and I'm gonna put it all together over the next few days.

Let me fill enlighten you on your next comment: The fact that Intel doesn't understand how AMD can claim to be faster only shows that Intel is ignorant :p This is the simple fact: Intel is faster, AMD does a lot more in slightly more time than takes Intel to do one thing. So, look at it this way: Intel can add all integers from 1 to a trillion in 2ms, AMD can add all the integers from 1 to a trillion in 3ms, while illegally downloading any music you feel like you need :) Plus, GOOGLE BATTLE!!! come on, thats the most unreliable test of anything…

Depending on your preference, it might be a benefit to you (:sasmokin:)…

yes maby your right, but my CPU usage with 3 VM's was 60% and with 2 SMARTS its around 60-70%

maby because in the VPC's I limited the ram to 250MB? And someone said above that Runescape tries to get as much memory as it can?

My computer only has 2GB of RAM, im going to upgrade to 4GB soon..depending if I can find a good price :p

actually I've noticed this I run two SMARTs with lagg and i can run 2 vms with no lag -,-

Smart doesn't lag, but it slows the RS client a little bit down, so you can run more. The 'lag' is done on purpose.
