I think we should have sort of a auth system where you have to enter your srl name + pass before you can start up SMART. Also I think it should track ip's etc since it isn't hard to give someone else your name and pass. Ive seen a not-so-good programmer do this so it shouldn't be to hard for Ben or Freddy etc etc.

i dont know about that idea.

it just brings back bad memories for me.

what if someone got a hold of those passes???

Plus, what would be the point now a version without auth has been released?

Well IMO this will or has already been leaked i am 100% sure this will be leaked ( I'm not going to leak it so don't get any ideas) so I think since it has already been released without an auth we should just make an auth now, eventually it will stop working and our new authed version will go on.

If this is leeched, there will be a greater amount of bots everywhere, Scar will eventually die as Jagex will look out for us more..

Stop this nonsense. There will be no authorisation for S.M.A.R.T. whether you like it or not. The more you all get excited over this the more important it becomes. Dont praise it to mystical proportions. Yes it is a revolution, but no it is not such a big deal. All other "commercial" bots have longgone discovered this minimizing/multiple thing. Also, I will not start a "war" over anything related to S.M.A.R.T. and our friendly neighbours. Please keep your cool, keep it down. Enjoy S.M.A.R.T. The more important you make this protection of yours, the worse our community will become.

And, yes offcourse this has been discussed before, and yes we know exactly how to do that, and no we will not do it.

Personally, I think it's a great idea. I hate dis-agreeing with fawkawi, but eventually, I'm sure someone will leak it, even if its accidental (ie they get hacked).

If I got the source (which I highly doubt xD) It would be easy, and I'd more more than willing, to implement an auth system. But, what fawaki says is basically law, so this isn't going to happen.

It will be leaked. Accept that. It is the way of the world. There is no real reason to protect it, because if you really want to have this, undoubtfully you all know how to get your hands on it, one way or another. It only needs one fool to spread it to the many. Well, fools enough in the world, even here @ SRL :) Any authorisation will not prevent that. Authing is just a whole lot of trouble over nothing.

Are you talking about me or someone else? If its me I have not idea what your talking about.

Either way, I think an auth system would keep people from leaking it although it would probably cause more harm seeing as how that would encourage people to try to hack SRL for passwords / scam people more.

I think it will be fine as is, and seeing as it doesn't modify RS in any way, its still undetectable, but your right about increasing the number of botters…
