Im proud to present MastaMario. I made this game for the Game Competition, but it looks like star is fading away from the SCAR Cheating community's. So i decided to release this to the public.

Markus made an awesome image for this game, which shows the top 5 score!


This game is a 'remake' of Mario. None of the pictures in the game are made by me, i did edit them. This game has got some 'features':
  • Update
  • Highscores
  • Sounds
  • Not really hard to do Level making
There might be some bugs, but either im to lazy to fix them or i can't fix them. I've commented some stuff out so you might understand what it is all about.

If you haven't got an Internet connection this script won't try to update\highscores. Update: Wizzup? has made a highscore system for this game! It works awesome, you can either check the highscores by running MastaMario or goto the website, http://mastaraymond.byethost13.com/Index.php. It still is really easy to send fake stats. Although I ask you, please don't cheat in the stats, or take down my site (you get me), it won't make you popular.

Howto install:
  • Download the attachment
  • Unpack it somewhere
  • Install the font "SuperMarioBros.ttf" by double clicking it (This is for windows XP, other OS might be different
    • Nielsie: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Fonts Folder > Move the font to it :))
  • Open MastaMario.scar
  • Press the green arrow and be amazed ^,^
This game only includes 3 levels, i was getting bored. I might ever update this, but you can do it to:eek:.
In the MastaMario.rar package there is my 'Level1.scar' file, this makes all the 3 the levels, by just 1 Run press :). The MakeBitmaps.scar is a file that Loads an Mass Image To Str dump (By freddy) and converts it to a Ini which includes the Str, W and H of a bitmap.

VISTA Users: Install the font for vista (no clue how, google it?) then you have to make some changes in the script.
1) Remove the procedure CheckFontInstalled (Line 123-138)
2) Goto the mainloop (down in the script) and remove this 2 lines:
  if LoadSetting('MastaMario','Font') <> 'True' then //The font must be installed!
    CheckFontInstalled;

This version is better than the one i submitted. Although there aren't many changes.

About the level editor, i might do it. Although im very busy atm :(.

OOH silly me, its still using a not working website! I replace all those not working urls with new urls (Ctr + R) but then scar somehow sais you didn't change, i didn't know that. So i closed and uploaded ^,^. But it was still using the old urls x'). Redownload baby!

Okay, try this. Wipe of that procedure.. Remove it from the whole script and install your font normally ;). Then it will work

1) Remove the procedure CheckFontInstalled

Yeah you can jump over it.. I know.. Its only your prob that it crashes, ^,^ you shouldn't jump over it :p

Few tips, the giant moles can be stood on safely. The upright dragons have 2 forms, bombs don't die when jumped on(they go into explosion mode).

Yeah i know ^,^. It was possible to add that, but i think it would slow down my engine a lot. Right now it handles every monster as the same. Its possible though, but im lazy :rolleyes:.

make a level creator, then hold a competition to see who can make the hardest but yet beatable level…with common sense also so its not just 1000's of bombs or something, something challenging

With your Dial-Up don't make me laugh.. Also, "It appears me and GoF like to h4x.. :p", like i staded in my first post, i DO know its not hard to hax. But i didn't add anything that is like a 'anti-h4x'.. Every newb can send fake scores.. If you really want to hax this, use your time wise and make your own highscore system that isn't possible to hack! I didn't add a plugin to this game because the competition rules didn't allow me… With a plugin i could do some cool sound effects, like background music etc…
@The others. Level creator, ill make one when i've got time ;). In a few weeks i guess :rolleyes:. I've also got to do some changes in the engine. Right now the tiles are 15*15, while most images use a size of 16.. Ill figure out a way to make it better, (Loading screens?) that way i could prevent out of memory's while it still will be very specific in tiles ^.^

yay, amazing! just like real mario… 278 points btw, failed all the time in lvl 3, with jumping part on those lonely stones…

make cheats for this…:p like in GTA or whatever game…adding more lives with cheat would be awsome!

I know PHP for more then 9 months now. Was a while since I did anything in it so I decided to grab the manual and read through the GD functions a bit (never used GD for anything that actually does something).
After one hour of reading I made this :p

As you can see it hardly even shows the left leg :)

I modified it a bit, now it can run by pressing tab to get a little bit more speed, like in Super Mario Bros :f:

Great game! If I understood it a bit more I could maybe make a level editor for it however right now I'll work on beating level 3.

Edit: Umm how do you beat level 3? If I could run it would be a lot easier ;).

Well, I made it using a "Tile" system. Every 15*15 has got his own meaning.. For example if it has got the meaning number 102 it is an Question block etc.. Small problem is, that I took the wrong Tile sizes.. Might need to change that :p

You could make something that gets all the coins, something that kills all the animals…. Lots of things, something that makes the jump higher etc.. :p

Lol my plans were to make you jump higher. As for get all coins + kill everything, I think that might be a bit of work.

Lol no, it won't allow you to submit a score if you cheat :p. I will upload when I'm finished jump higher…I can't seem to figure out how to do it though, I can make it skip up then jump from there but it just doesn't look cool enough.

BTW: I made a fly cheat :P, walk off the edge and fly.

Edit: Ok I made something better than adjusting how high you jump, you press "j" to jump and you can press it again while in the air!

Edit2: Ok here it is! The cheats are: "+" to go forward a level, "-" to go back a level, "`" to gain a life, "1" to become big Mario, Hold "2" to be invincible, Hold "f" to walk of an edge and not fall, and press "j" to jump even when in the air, you will not be able to jump off the top of the screen though making this very safe to get into tough areas. Also hold tab to run - this cheat will still allow you to send highscores though.

Place the .scar file in your MastaMario folder and run MastaMario Cheat.

Edit3: Added a new cheat "k" kills all of the enemies in the current level.

I just saw someone hit 34535 (or so)… But the Length in the DB is only 3.. Is it possible to put formula's in MySQL…?

You have to extract the script and all of the things that come with it to the same place, THEN you open the game and play it.
