New Rule Set. What do you like to add?

I will add this to the current ruleset, and while we are at it, anyone got any ideas of additions to the existing one?
Bans and Infractions
You will be permanently banned for the following offences:
- Account Stealing. Do not abuse accidentally left accountnames/passes. Instead, help them by changing the pass, alerting mods/admins and pm the scriptowner about the new passes.
.

Not reading the sticky in the free for all section. I get asked almost every day on both threads, sometimes multiple times, if they bank.
WT-Fakawi

How about this one?
You will be infracted for the following offences:
- Spamming. Useless post are not allowed. The spammer will recieve one infraction point.
.
pwnaz0r
2007-11-07 17:59:43
definatly. You could prolly fix the sticky thing by simply changing the title to something like "READ OR BE BANNED" :D
WT-Fakawi
2007-11-07 18:02:34
Yes and maybe the rules need to be placed in the navigation bar too, and/or at mainpage.
Be more specific about spamming. Add in things like making posts that could be answered by reading the stickies, rules, etc, also making off-topic posts.

I think we should consider a different spam as well…
Lets say this happens randomly in a thread about fish :p
"Hi my name it bob!" <- spam.
"Please do not post spam bob."
"Yea bob don't post spam." <- spam.
"read teh rules bob." <- spam-ish…
I have seen some threads were people do this….
I do consider it to be spam…
I think if someone is going to post about the guy above him spamming…
that he should at least relate to the topic after saying hey you spamed.
I will think of others to go on the list :).
-You may want to say that this applies to all aspects of the forums…. like public posting and sending PMs.
1 week ban for applying with copied scripts ;)
I think it was rscheatnet. No wait maybe Kaitnieks. And someone put the rules sticky under the header. "Stat changer". Works wonders :p

All Posts must contain at least 1 entire sentence pertaining to the topic and all sentences must have at least 6 words.
You should receive only a infraction for this, although (I think its Forum Policy) where if you get "X" infractions you get a temp ban.
I think that would cut down on the posts that are like
"Lol, Nice"
"GG I'll Test"
"Looks good"
ect…

what are we, some kind of dictatorship of a forum? You can't be so strict like that.
Pwnzazor i have no problem with it. But i have been known to put posts quoting then just …. as my actual post.

2007-11-07 22:09:24
I don't have a "problem" with it, but I don't think it is the way to go. No one comes here on business, they come here to auto (AKA enjoy themselves). I know I wouldn't like this community if it forced me to have 1 complete sentence, with at least 6 words pertaining to the subject at hand. I think any post should be on topic, but not worded like that at least.
Special Ed
2007-11-07 22:31:22
Well maybe not that strict, but I hate seeing
"GG Looks nice"
On something that I've posted, It doesn't give any feedback, doesn't help at all, its just some random post. Maybe we shouldn't have it like 6 words in a sentence, but at least make it like 4 Words pertaining to the topic or at least, 1 "statement" pertaining to the topic.
Dark_Sniper
2007-11-08 00:40:24
Well we really can't give that any infraction… if its for a script or something…
I mean the author wants feedback no matter how small the sentence may be.
They are slightly on topic… giving feedback on a script is allowed… So they can get away with it…

Special ed's seems a bit over the top. But we do need to have a clearer definition of spamming, stuff that n3sses posts is very spammy. also, things like replying with "rofl" or just making useless comments like Santa clause does, such as "you double posted." or "stop showing off." backseat modding is also very annoying, such as people saying "dont spam" or "double post". easier to just report the post for the mods.

Totally agreed. Its obvious when people double post. Im sure you dont need to then spam to tell them so :p I dunno. Today i found something completly hilarious by boreas. He quoted a post above saying" Well its not like people would be stupid enough to auto on there mains" or something to that drgree. he then quoted and then said underneath er.. Which was enough for me to completely LMAO. And yet this would be infractionable?

we could increase the number of minimum words for one post.
The Claw
2007-11-08 04:54:14
a high minimum count of words is incredibly annoying..how about making it that a post has to be constructive to count as non spam. that way, boreas doesnt get banned for spamming cause "er.." would be expressing his opinion on the matter, therefore constructive lol.

What about stealing passes through scripts ? That didn't used to be in there did it *hopes it didnt* ? And abusing stats system ?
Markus
2007-11-08 11:17:00
About abusing stats system: why not just ban em from the stats (temporary)?
And minimum count of words in a post don't work:
LOL LOL THIS WAS SO FUNNY!11!! YEA REALly
Instead of:
LOL.
The first one wastes even more db space then the first, slowing the server down.
Smartzkid

I'm not over that top, I don't know what your saying! *twitch*
Words per sentence;
Min 6.
Max 19.
All words must be in the English dictionary and consist of 3 letters.
All words must be approved by an admin before posting, failure to comply will result in a permanent ban!
I think that should keep 'em in line! Muahahahahahahaha!
Yea… Anyways…
I know it may seem a little harsh but really, I do understand that instead of people posting "Lol", they'll post "lol that was so lmfao funny lawl!" and that would just create more of a problem. I guess I wasn't taking in to account that people really don't care about the rules for the most part, lol, and having a post limit would make people "spam" more.
If we just set it so that if you posted something that had < 10% revelance to the particular topic it should be considered spam. Like if someone posted…
"Lol, lmfao that was so lawl I w4s l1k3 OMFG N00b! BTW Good Script"
That has about 15 percent revelance because they did post "BTW Good Script". I don't know, honestly spam really doesn't bother me that much. I'm just trying to come up with strict ruling to start, and them make it more and more lenient until I can find something that will work. Don't think I want the forums to be really dictator like… Its just my way of gaging how "tough" we should be on the rules.
EDIT: I though of another rule that I've really wanted to have put in for a long time, but it may just be done serverside with editing some permissions, not really a rule.
As an SRL Member, you must wait "x" Days after you become an SRL Member before voting on applications.
Why? Because I hate it when people join one day and start voting / posting on applications the next. I know they are SRL Members for a reason although I think they need to hand around the SRL Member forums for a while before they should start posting / voting on applications.

We need something about all the 'SCAR is a virus' threads.
Also back on the topic of spam. SRL is such a strong community because of the atmosphere, like everytime I've ever been to somewhere like sythe, it is not a good experience. Here we have a lighter atmosphere, so I dont think we should go overboard with the 'spam' thing. Yes I agree with things like
Nice
Cool
I'll test it
etc are spam and very annoying, but little jokes it they are not way way way off topic and they have something to do with the topic fine. The light heartedness is part of SRL in my opinion and if we go over the top and legalistic is will upset the balance.
I had some ideas earlier before I saw this thread but I've forgotten now, I will post if i remember.
EDIT: What about setting the BBQ pit permissions to Junior member and over, less place for them to Spam and once they get junior member they might not be as inclined to spam b/c they have no real gain from a high post count
EDIT2:
# Selling: No Script Selling at SRL. No Script Buying at SRL. Please apply to our Friendly Neighbours for anything related to $ or RS-gp.

Well not really a "new" rule but clarification of an older one.
Bumping and Grave Digging. Very annoying indeed. Infractionized.
I think we need to explain grave digging, or at least set a time limit of how old a thread can be before posting on it is considered grave digging.
Personally I think its really a judgment call to how old it is, but I think we need to set a time limit.

Returning after a ban: You may not return after a perm ban. Proxying into SRL is strictly forbidden.
this "Returning after a ban" rule is only in effect if they are perm banned…
what about a temp ban…
I also think this rule should be enforced with more punishment than 1 infraction.
how about:
Returning After a Ban - Returning while any type of ban is still in effect on your account is strictly prohibited. Results in ip/perm ban.May want to add
Insulting Another Member as another rule.
Impersonating: Pretending to be a Developer/Moderator/Admin.

Sigs : All rules apply to sigs.I also have a request… Set it so that when you post in BBQ pit it does not count. There should be an option in admin panel to disable post count for a thread :)
I kind of like the referrals in people's signitures.
How about…
Flaming
Any flaming in any area other than the BBQ pit is strictly forbidden and will result in infraction!
Repeatedly posting
Posting multiple times within 1-3 minutes of each post will result in an infraction unless the posts were helpful to someone and not just compliments on a tutorial/script and were not off topic things. -I see this one a lot… "Nice Script" (1 minute later) "Hey, thanks for the tutorial, helped me a lot. I totally read it!" (1 minute later) "Whoah! This script worked for 72 hours straight for me even though I only registered 3 minutes ago!"…etc.

Insulting Another Member - Flaming or harassing another member in a non-joking manner *Excluding BBQ Pit*. Results in an infraction and moved to BBQ pit.
whinnying - Making any short of fuss over something that does not include you or blaming other members for something they did not do. Results in an infraction.
Spamming - This includes posts off-topic/meaningless/repeative/consecutive.

Well, the only ones that would actually apply to signitures are buying/selling and advertisement sites (referral links). I don't have anything against either of them. Every once in awhile I click on an advertisement link just to give someone a few $'s. It doesn't hurt anyone.
And, post count really doesn't give you anything on these forums. . . I don't see any reason why you would want to take it away in certain sections.

I don't like to post in the BBQ pit too much right now just the opposite of why everyone wants to post in there. It makes your post count look worse because it looks like you just spammed it all, and if this PostCount := PostCount + 0; in BBQ pit forums thing applied, I could have more fun, and other people could too, by posting in the BBQ pit more without looking like I spammed my whole post count if that makes sense and wow that was the biggest run-on sentence ever lol I'll stop :p
Can registered users view those forums? That would be the only reason I would see the rule being set.
JAD. . . Stop being so self-conscious. . . We've been registered about as long and I have 1/4th the amount of posts you do. That doesn't mean I'm inactive and it doesn't mean you spammed. . . It just means that you've made more posts than me.

But rules are a lot less strict further up the ranks :p
SSRL spam = who gives a shit :p you shouldn't unless they are spamming like crazy :p
In the SSRL section of the forums it doesn't bother anyone since there aren't that many posts here anyway. The only thing that should really be punishable is intentional spamming or flooding. If someone posts on 3 threads, "Wow, that's a good script" it doesn't really bother anyone. If they post on 15 threads, it does.
