Will RS prices crash?

From Runescape

Later in the month, we bring you the 'Grand Exchange'. This new building will be located in the north-west of Varrock and will house a huge new addition to the game: the ability to offer items to buy and sell across ALL servers and to ALL players! You might, for example, go to the Exchange and put a full Barrows set up for sale - then, playing Skullball in Canifis, you might get a message telling you that they have sold and that you can go to the nearest bank to receive payment! The Grand Exchange will allow you to spend more time on the things you enjoy, providing a less time-consuming alternative to selling your items on the Forums or amongst the crowds of Varrock Marketplace.

Ok this meens that there will be a house that u simply put ur stuff on for sale and that u can go hunt, train str or anything else and when someone has bought ur thing(s) ull get a message saying u got cash in bank but then there will be like 100k iron ores every sec so wont the price go down? and wont everything else go down? tell me ur opinon:stirthepot:

imo that looks realllllly sweeeeeeet

this will just allow the buying and selling to go smoother…

it shouldnt affect the prices of things, but it will allow buying and selling things to be more convenient

so i could auto like 10k iron and just throw it up for sale on this building and I dont have to keep typing 'selling 10k iron' and having to deal with idiots and scammers…

I do think this will effect the prices cause there will be more of the item everywhere so in result it will be easier to get.

It will prob affect price, as you will be able to trade to ANYONE, thats any world, any timezone, any place.

It sounds damn good, but I am really afraid that it will drop the pirces.. But we'll see.. We'll see.. (:

It will drop the prices, but they won't crash.

Stocks crash when the prices go too high, to the point where people can't buy them, therefore making them fall to hell. If the prices fall too much, they'll make a new object that's hard to get, and the price will therefore be high.

It will affect the prices but not serverly, although the chances are high that some duping or bugs could emerge as time goes on, same with this new 'req assistance' thing, there could be chances for lots of xp bugging, but for the prices, it will be more competitive so the prices should drop, good for the consumers :D

I think that it will help prices maybe even go up for higher items because items like christmas crackers could be put up for sale at higher prices and people would still pay for it because of the rarity of it. Same goes for phats and whatnot.

2007-11-05 23:24:52

My only worry, will this destroy the old tradition of standing in World 1 behind Varrock bank trying to flog your set of full Guthix for 200k more than its is really worth?

Smartzkid

2007-11-05 23:28:23

Can I put my accounts up for sale? :p

lakerzz8

2007-11-05 23:43:17

Prices will slowly drop and this will all but eliminate getting lucky and selling an item for way more than it's worth because now there is a real-time price check available in game.

DeKienger

2007-11-06 00:30:27

This is also probably another way of Jagex trying to kill merchanting.

Interesting .. I am suprised they are not taking a percentage of the selling price in an attempt to reduce the amount of GP in the game - I would bet most players would still use it just for sake of convenience. I think it will affect prices a bit, but not much .. am interested to see how exactly it will work.

AH it will also likely reduce trade scams as it removes the need to actually "trade."

I think the prices will definitely drop. If you post 10k iron ore for 100 ea and it just sits there for two weeks because the market is flooding with a billion other noobs selling iron for 100 ea, eventually you get tired of waiting and drop your prices. And if you have the fortitude to wait it out, 99% of the other noobs out there selling WON'T, and they will drop their prices to get the quick cash.

This is assuming that supplies will outweigh demands. If the demand is higher and the exchange is empty, then you can name your price. But for most of us that are autoing up these items, they are usually easy to auto for others as well and should be stocked full 24/7.

Prices will not crash, I think this will have no impact on the prices of items.

I'm almost sure that spamming behind the bank will slowly vanish.

There are positive and negative things about this. We are able to bot while we are selling.. but we have a small chance that we will sell for more then its actualy worth.

I'm not very active in autoing (yet) so imo they shouldn't release it cause I will make less money :p

it will just make less people in fally world 2

i think prices will change, cuz ppl in w1, w2, lower there price due to others selling at same price or they get tired and bored of typing over and over again they lower hoping sum1 will come to buy, and if you put in the house thing you can just say 'selling 10k iron ores 110ea', and eventualy more and more but ppl might be more stubborn and say 'buying 10k iron ores 80ea' and so on so forth, so idk w/e :)

red eyes 20

2007-11-06 21:56:27

the exchange will progably have comisions and buying will be easier. prices will go up imo (less marchanting to lower the price)
also sence people will under cut people so much the rych merchants will buy massives amounts and repice like 1/10 of the entire market up 25%(i've done that on another mmo i was one of the richest for the time i played only 6 months and i could buy all of one type of item and have total monopoly
and DOUBLE the price.
prices will be same/more

watch the economy crash

STOCK MARKET CRASH! :D

everything is worth nothing because there is too much of it.

Christphr1

2007-11-06 22:07:33

i just see this as auto heaven, we can just put up ours items right after getting them and i guess jagex is trying to cut down on scams and merchanting which is really dumb to cut donw on merchanting, since that keeps the economy going

NxTitle

2007-11-06 22:12:52

The runescape economy will NOT crash. Things will keep flowing as usual. This is because there are unlimited resources. You also don't have to live off the money, so people don't need to keep the money. So don't worry. Prices will probably go down a bit more, though.

yes i agree with it.
well it is a stolen idea form world of warcraft.
shamely ,i still play rs a bit because it is the composite of wow but anyway.
it will decrease rs money alot but wont crash because it are all players from every server, that is way to mutch. by wow it isn't all servers so that's the different.
but i will see how it goes,i hate the spamming at varrock server 1

The flax price has crashed… no one buys for 100 ea not even 80 ea!

Edit: and the bowstrings are now below 150ea…

2007-11-07 13:58:12

Yes you can sell your items faster but if the house is like the general shop and everybody sells something you will have to wait for ages for a free space for your item!

yanix

2007-11-07 14:28:31

No i think that the trade thing will be so long that it wont be filled… so ull have to scroll up 'n down to get nats o.O

I hope it doesn't show the level/details of the person who is selling then we'll be able to sell stuff like 1000's of autoed materials on a lvl 3 without the buyer being suspicious

Or more importantly: That FaGex won't be able to single out suspicious sellers, for the same reason you mentioned. That would pwn.
