Annual "Get Rid of Noob Lvl 3 Bots Week"?

Well I was thinking, we're trying to keep RS alive for the most part and not let it get totally raped by botters right? So I was thinking since we have that auto - reporter, why not make some week / day where we try to get everyone to go and run that for a couple of hours or something, that way, we can get rid of some lvl 3 bots that are ruining RS, and we get the satisfaction of seeing something like "over 7,000 reports of botting came in yesterday" on the RS frontpage.
I dunno but I just though of it after seeing a stream of lvl 3's cutting yews.
Yeah i agree. I wouldnt mind it if we set a day. Haha. And even if we told jagex that we are doing it so be prepared :p I wouldnt mind running my computer all day to report

Once a month maybe? :p
Yeah. Wouldnt be too bad. Even if just on that day. People did it for like a hour. It would help.

Yes, thats exactly what I was talking about, maybe have it once a month like you had said, even if we got just SRL Members to do it for 1 hour per person thats still a lot of reports that would be coming in.
If we where to have it, which day? I was thinking towards the first or last day of each month, just because people would go on the forums and realize "Hey its 'Insert Month Here' 1st" and possibly after a while people will make the connection of "'Insert Month Here' 1st = Get Rid of Bots Day".
I think if we planned it well we could get a lot of people contributing to it.

Not friday or a weekend, because people usually have things to do on their computers on those days.
Some weekday.

Sounds like fun to :-). If we could manage to keep it 'warm', and maybe some awards like, most reported wins 20k!

How about the "3rd" day of each month ;)

Sounds like a good idea to me. But what I think we should do is make sure that the bot reporter we use it "flawless" also to be eligible to win prizes you'd need to have you SRL stats ID in there and we'd use that to make sure they're reporting people, also it would be fun to see how many reports we got.

I will take a look at it once again :) Wizz build in a nice World Switcher into SRL, so theoretically it should be done in a jiffy.
Its not a bad idea. Maybe we should attach a SQL server to it that stores all the bot names, and publish those names on the runescape forums :)

Lol, that would be awesome… who would post on their forums though. Because whoever did would get like… banned or something. Or are the forums open to f2p as well now?

If it's gonna send names back to SRL, why bother reporting them? Just take down all the names you can, then move on
It wouldn't look good if all of the names on a list were reported by people using a macro. Peoples' accounts may get in some trouble. Smartz idea may be better, just put all of the names into a list.

Ok.
Can we do it, in like, a few weeks?
I think we should add it to a MySQL server, too.
Will have to figure out which one, because it will be some heavy load for the server. I personally think VillaVu can handle it, it's not really slow, as long as you use 82.92.130.193.
Well to be fair. If we have day and set locations. And we let it be known globally to scar community. Then peopel will know not to be autoing there. And if they do then they are just plain and simple dumb leechers :p

Yes, that's who I was referring too, not necessarily the People who use SCAR like that although those people I wouldn't mind if they got banned either. ;)
As for when and where…
Like RAM said I think we need to make it a specific date of each month, possible the 3rd (like RAM said). Although that seems to be an abstract day, I'd rather have it on the 1st, but it doesn't really matter as long as we can get the most amount of people possible involved. If you want to have it soon, maybe we could have it on the 15th of every month, although I don't know how long it takes to set up a MySQL server and what-not.
Possibly when we do this we could make a map of RS and highlight area's with an over abundance of bots. I'd be willing to make this if we where to use it. I'd just make a copy of the RS Map and add some red circles. We could also make that a collaborative effort as well.
@ Town - Thats what I was saying, have the "Bot Reporter" send the names of all the accounts that where reported to a MySQL and then take the giant list of names from that and post that on the forums with a message like "From your friendly Botwatching Community" or something, don't really go into detail about just be blunt.

But, we got to be sure we send the names of cheaters, otherwise were 'fucked'. I think we should make some kind of 'party' of it like: 'report day coming!'.

I made an RS-account named SRL Master. This account could become the RS-Member that reports at the RS-forums all the names of the bots.
Meanwhile, we could phish botnames whenever we feel like, not neccesarily reporting, just collecting, as long as we store them at one centralised MySQL spot. My MySQL-server can be used for that purpose, names sorting could all be done serverside. As long as you collect unique names, the MySQL-server will do the rest.
And then, once a month, boooooom, 15.000 names of level-3 bots on the RS-forums. I would be thrilled.

Only recording names would make things go a lot faster…we could just submit the names to customer support as macros
Special Ed
2007-11-05 19:35:16
Either or works… Although reporting would be a pain…60 seconds between reports and thousands of bots to report…
Either way, if we send it to them through customer support they may just throw it off and do nothing. Reporting it at least sends it through an algorithm.
So I take it we don't need to RS Member's account then?

We are allowed to send a message to jagex under one of the sections (customer support > other maybe) with the names, though. :)

Maybe make a new account called something like: SRL Reporter, so they know where 'good' autoers?
I had a wild hair in my ass, and was thinking of an all out Kamikaze assault on them….make a Bot Cather script that uses only the functions in SCAR, so as not to draw attention back here…. make an anonymous free webs page to host the script….make a post to their forums, er…make a SPAM script and make many posts to their forums….telling the legit users, how they can show Jaghex that they are sick of Level 3s and now have a way to report them….
Just my $.02

Even if we did use SCAR it would still lead people back here because we are the main SCAR Cheating Community I believe.

True, True… We do need to plan this out though I think it would work very well as long as its planned out.
