Nice (for gimp(don't take that harshly(:p))).

I think you should add another picture in the middle somewhere with the second one though, because it's big.

They look a bit like you just took a background somewhere and put plain text on it ;) But I guess those are decent, as I dont know anything about gimp :)

you can make you're owne back ground. mostenly that even looks a lot better. use brushes and blur tools to make a nice back ground ;)

GIMP is well-supported for the fact that it's second-best. You can find tutorials pretty much everywhere for GIMP effects. I've had my share of fun making backgrounds on school computers look glassy :p.

Personally, I've never used Photoshop, but i find that combining InkScape and GIMP work really well. I actually used InkScape for a banner for one of my scripts.

Mmmm… www.planetrenders.net

You can find alot of renders/stocks, tuts, brushes, psd's(although, dont be a narb and rip :) ) etc. from there. I mainly prefer using background stock over brush tool. I dont really like brushes :p

I think it's up to him to choose which one he prefers? And there are diff. opinions about this too, if you ask a GIMP user which is better he'll say GIMP and PS users will say PS… Atleast most likely ;)
