SRL Archive - Computer Help and Tutorials

Ok, this is gunna sound really stupid but after talking to a couple of srl people, I found out that srl-forums has been loaded slow for others as well as me… When i would try to access the page, Firefox would just sit there saying "Waiting for http://www.srl-forums.com" for a long period of time. This has been making me really mad (since I have a less than 1 year old hp with 2 gigs of ram), BUT! I found a way to make it load in under 10 secs! (Not really found but remembered.) If this has been the case for you, follow these steps:

1. Go to google.com
2. Click "About Google"
3. Click "Google Services and Tools"
4. Then scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen and on the right side, theres a google web accelerator.
5. Download and install, WOOT!
6. Enjoy getting to srl-forums in no time at all.

Please no flaming, I figured this could help a LOT of people. :spot:

OMG! Awesome, it's running like it used to when I didn't have a vm on :) Now I have a vm running and my browser is just as lightning fast as it always used to be, TYVM :D

Your welcome! But vm's arent good for your computer… totally my opinion tho

Firefox goes fast because it doesnt have all the addons. So if you were going to Mini clip you would need a java thing on it. or it needs to be activated something like that. other than that its nice for runescape

Lol forums take under like 3 seconds to load for me.

Just get Firefox with the FasterFox addon.

Works nice and it even tells you how many seconds you save =]

OK! Now I'm just blown away. With both the Google accelerator and that, now I'm running faster than ever before….With my vm on! (maybe I can get a second one set up now :D:D)

Thanks this was alot of help for my IE, but I still prefer Firefox w/ Fasterfox addon but this was worth reading

google's web accelerator is quite good although they take up far more space in the cache than normal…

I guess how thats how they work… by saving the page in your computer and downloading the updated website again…

But the problem was that when this feature was first introduced by google 1000s of people started using it and since all the page requests go through google's servers, it doesn't take that long to crash…

But still extremely good for dialup users…

you should also make sure to clear out your cache every couple of months.
in firefox Tools->Clear Private Data. check cache and cookies, and uncheck all the ones that you dont want or dont understand. that will speed up how fast your firefox loads. and quite possibly a bunch of space on your hard drive.

for some reason this slows down my comp by a lot. it makes the loading all spastic.

well just tried it and it makes all my pages slower to load which is weird.

it also take ages to open the ineternet so i am uninstalling it, but was worth a try
