Well here it is! The Team Scripting Competition! The Goal is now posted, if you still wish to join you still can, although you will be at a slight disadvantage.

Sumilion has graciously offered his services to everyone, if you have a question about something that has to do with scripting feel free to ask him any questions. He will not be able to make something for you but he will be able to help, unless your a Dev then figure it out yourself!

Goal -[/LEFT]

The main skill in this competition will be Mining, most of you where expecting some sort of long list of skills that you would be able to make a script for but I am giving you some sort of freedom in this.

You have two choices either complement Mining with the addition of Smithing or complement it with Crafting. You may be somewhat disappointed about this goal but I've put a lot of thought into this and this will make the competition as Equal and Fair as possible, while still getting people to make different scrpts. All scripts could have a fair amount of skills added to them, you just need to think of which ones and where. Location is another big part in this script, I've found a few places where you could makes scripts that fit this criteria, and I hope you can find those areas too ;) they may not be in the most obvious places, but they are there. Also if you can manage to include both Smithing and Crafting in your script (Smithing as in creating Items, not just Smelting)(Crafting as in not just Spinning Wool) you will be awarded with a +1.25 Score Multiplier!

As an added addition to the contest you will be able to add any skills you wish to your your script and for each skill you add your overall score will be multiplied by a "Score Multiplier" as listed below for each skill.

Score Multiplier is almost exactly as it sounds, your script starts with a 1.0 Score Multiplier, and for Each Skill you incorporate into your script other than the required skills the Multiplier will go up by that specific skills Multiplicative Value. Also note that the Multiplier is figured in before the points from the Extra category is added when grading the scripts.

• [Attack, Strength, Defense, Hitpoints] Together = +1.75 Score Multiplier.
• [RuneCrafting] = +1.25 / +1.5 Score Multiplier. *See Ruling*
• [Fishing] = +1.0 Score Multiplier.
• [WoodCutting] = +1.0 Score Multiplier.
• [Prayer] = +0.25 Score Multiplier.
• [Magic] = +0.25 Score Multiplier.
• [Range] = +0.25 Score Multiplier.
• [Firemaking] = +0.25 Score Multiplier.
• [Cooking] = +0.25 Score Multiplier.

*Special Ruling* -

Self Gathered: Meaning that the character in RS either makes or finds the items somewhere other than its bank or starting in its inventory.

[RuneCrafting] - If you are making tiara's your multiplier will be +1.5 instead of +1.25. *Self Gathered [Talismans]*
[Smithing] - Just Smelting Items in a Furnace will give you +0.25 to your Score Multiplier, but if you are making Items with an Anvil it will jump up to +1.25 Instead.
[Crafting] - Just Smelting either Gold or Silver into a mold will get you +0.25 to your Multiplier, but if you make complex items that require Wool, Balls of Wool, Cowhide, Dragonhide, or any Leathers the bonus will increase to +1.25 instead. *Self Gathered [Wool, Balls of Wool, Cowhide, Dragonhide, Leathers]*

[LEFT]Rules -[/LEFT]

Rules, rules, rules… you can't do anything with them but you can't do anything without so here they are.

1. In contrast to StarBlaster's Competition you must have a team, no flying solo.
2. Cheating, obviously, will not be tolerated, that means copying, espionage, spying, and bribery are no goes.
3. The Deadline is the Dead Line no scripts will be accepted afterwards.
4. Only your Team Captain is allowed to submit your script and he/she can only submit 1 version.
5. Plugins are allowed any homemade concoctions you may come up with or something that has been published for all!
6. All work must be from members of your team or from SRL, I suggest making new functions / procedures but if you would like to use and old one that you or a teammate has made then you can.

[LEFT]Creating a Team -[/LEFT]

Here are some guidelines to follow when creating your team, please stick to them and if you have any questions on the rules please PM me or Post here. After you have your team and team name have the Captain PM me with the Subject of "Team Scripting Competition - *TeamNameHere*" Please have the names of all the members of the team, as well as your request for a ventrilo room if you so choose. (Remember Ventrilo has a Chat Room as well). Id suggest having some sort of common meeting time as well between partners, so as to have a chance to exchange Ideas and solve problems.

1. Teams should have between 2 - 4 Members.
2. All Teammates must be SRL Members or above.
3. Teammates must live within 10 Timezones (GMT) of one another.
4. All Teammates must have some form of communication other than PM'ing.
5. All Teams must have 1 Team Captain.
6. All Teams need a name.

*Notes* -
[3] - The Reason I say they must live within 10 Timezones of each other is because if they live any farther apart they most likely will not be awake at a common time and therefore wouldn't be working together.
[4] - PM'ing is good and all but to communicate ideas and strategy you really need to have some sort of communication that is faster. If anyone would like to use ventrilo I can set up a private room with a password for any team who would like one, just PM me your Team name and what you want your password to be.
[6] - Team Captains are the ones who will communicate with me about ruling and questions. These team captains are also the only ones who are able to send in the final script. (2nd in Command can be established in the Team but I will only accept 1 Script from each Team).

[LEFT]Team Names -[/LEFT]

Please choose a acceptable name, and try to be somewhat serious. If you want to compete in future competitions with the same team you must use the same name.

[LEFT]Grading Categories -[/LEFT]
These are the categories that all scripts will be graded on, along with their maximum achievable value. Any Points in the Extra category will be considered as Bonus points toward your scripts final Score. Each Skill that your script encompasses will be graded as well as your script overall, each skill will be graded on a 1/5 scale and will be without "Flow".

• Flow [30 points]
• Accuracy [30 points]
• Intelligence [30 points]
• Technique [25 points]
• Creativity [25 points]
• Efficiency [20 points]
• Location [15 points]
• Extra [+10 points]

*Notes* -
[1] - Flow is the Scripts ability to transition between multiple skills fluidly.
[2] - Accuracy is based on How well the script finds its mark, any Mis-clicks or False Positives will lower your score.
[3] - Intelligence is how well the script can adapt to its surroundings as well as how much information it can gather on its own. Requiring people to select a tree color, for example, will lower your score.
[4] - Technique is what you do where, how you create certain function will determine your score in this category.
[5] - Creativity is how you solve certain problems you come across, if you solve it with just a MouseClick that works on 50% of the time you will lose points just as if you solved a problem that only needed a MouseClick with an elaborate idea.
[6] - Efficiency is how well your scripts runs, as far as how much lag is created, how many times the scripts paused waiting for something, and how long it took it to find something.
[7] - Location is a little category I decided to add for this particular competition, where you make your script, either in a very common place or somewhere that people haven't thought about can get you more or less points.
[8] - Extra is anything else you did to make the script better, forms, music, pictures, anything you can think of that will improve the "appearance" of the script. Self Setup and knowing levels is apart of intelligence not Extra.

[LEFT]Ranking System -[/LEFT]
All Team competitions will be ranked and a scoreboard will be displayed for Teams as well as individuals, each team can choose whether or not to partake in being Ranked, although Ranked Prizes will not be obtainable. The Ranking System is as follows…

• [Team] 1st Place in Skill Category (+ 5 / Skill)
• [Team] 1st Place in Grading Category (+ 3 / Category)
• [Team] 2nd Place Overall (+ 7)
• [Team] 2nd Place in Skill Category (+ 4 / Skill)
• [Team] 2nd Place in Grading Category (+ 2 / Category)
• [Team] 3rd Place Overall (+5)
• [Team] 3rd Place in Skill Category (+ 3 / Skill)
• [Team] 3rd Place in Grading Category (+ 1 / Category)

*Notes* -
[1] - These Points will only count toward your Teams Score, and do not benefit your individual score whatsoever.
[2] - Skill Categories are Graded on which Team creates the Best Functions for a given skill. All Skills are ScuneRape Non-Member Skills only.
[3] - Grading Categories are as listed above as;Flow, Accuracy, Intelligence, Technique, Creativity, Efficiency, Location and Extra. Your Team will be awarded 2 Bonus Points for being 1st, 2nd or 3rd in Flow. Being 1st, 2nd or 3rd in Extra will award your team with Only 1 Point, you will not get 3 or 2 Points for Being First or Second in the Extra category, First through Third place will all receive 1 Point toward their Teams Rank.

[LEFT]Prizes -[/LEFT]
This section will give you some info about prizes, both for winning this competition and for achieving certain Ranks with your team.

This competitions' prize is 500,000gp per teammate donated graciously from some people I will mention later. Anyone who feels the need to donate please contact me, even if you don't want to donate a lot, we're trying to pool as much money as possible for future competitions. (Possibly a collaboration of StarBlaster100's prizes as well maybe?)

Ranked Prizes are still being determined, the reason I say this is because, although I would love to hold more competitions, I don't know how many people will participate each time.
So when or if we do have ranks and your team reaches certain Ranks your team will be granted special prizes and, of course, admiration. The Steps of the Ranking ladder are as follows. Teams will receive prizes at each leg of this ladder and a bonus prize at Master!

• 3,500 points -> Leecher
• 3,600 points
• 3,800 points
• 4,100 points
• 5,500 points
• 6,000 points -> Intermediate
• 6,600 points
• 7,300 points
• 8,100 points
• 9,000 points
• 10,000 points -> Master

10 Timezones, If it was a 10 hour car ride only people who lived in the same state / area could be in a team, and I don't think many people live really close to each other.

Well I guess you don't really need a common meeting time, I guess thats more of a suggestion than a requirement, sorry I'm just trying to keep people from making a script by themselves.

And I would be glad if you joined I think that would give a lot of people more incentive to try harder! Well it would definitely give me more of an incentive to try harder :D.

EDIT: I think I may start a running tally / list of people who need teams in the main post, so as to help people for teams better. If you want me to add you to the list just say so and I will, just remember to tell me when you get a team.

Wait… Then… whats the point of being an SRL Member, its kind of hard to script without ever going on RS don't you think :p

I think you should join though, even if you don't like going on RS You'll probably find yourself enjoying this more than you anticipated. Just give it some thought at least, and don't be afraid to go up against the big guns, it would do you could to compete and I'm sure teams will be looking for people like you.

Varrock to Fally shouldn't be that hard. All you need to do is follow the road colour until you get to Barbarian Village then a couple of blind clicks or symbol clicks or a couple of dtms or something like that then just follow the road again to Fally. :)

no i was trying to do it with no radial walking, only dtms and ddtms :p was quite hard, got it to get there maybe 3-5 times out of 20 :p.(plus it was back before the 1st scripting competition)

I think you're a bit confused on what I meant.

All I was saying that no-one knows what the script was about…so you couldn't possibly be coming out with a script.

Yes, as you guys have figure out (I thought it was kinda obvious :D) That no-one will know what script your going to have to make until Saturday, unless they are really, really, really good at guessing. Who ever said this is going to be an interesting script definitely hit the nail on the head with that comment though. :p

Also, as far as teams go, no-one has sent me a PM with their teams' info yet, so I really don't have any teams to display, I hope I get at least 1 by tonight, because I know some of you out there have teams that are pretty well organized.

P.S. - Hint for the competition… Its going to be more than 1 skill!:eek:

First of all, this competition would probably make more sense if you actually read the first post, its in the first damn sentence man! :p

No, your not making any script you want, that information is detained until saturday. Also you must be working in a Team of 2 - 4 people, one of which is your leader and you leader must PM me your teams name and the names of its members.

i dont have a team if anyone's looking for someone :). else im gonna make a script by myself!:p…completely serious(though i guess not for the competition)

Can we start the competition like, sooner? I am anxious (:)), and I don't want to have to wait until next weekend to start scripting. I can't script on sunday (for us) will be busy and I can't script during the week. Can you at least make it start like Friday? Any teams that aren't ready will only loose around 7 hours work time and maybe you can just add another day or two until the end. That way, every one is happy and we get to start instead of wait another week (also a good way to start out the weekend.. :D)

Well that does sound like a good idea although I don't know if other people would rather have another day to get teams together or have the entire weekend to start it, although I think you may be right on this.

Well I was expecting people to PM me the Teams but this works just as well. Well it looks like we've got ourselves a good competition cooking.

Just because there is a team of Dev's it doesn't mean you don't have a chance, I know plenty of people who have given ideas to Dev's that they haven't even thought of before. Also I think it should be an incentive to those who want to become Dev's, you can really show them what you've got.

Just a question though, do you think 3 weeks is enough to make this script? I didn't think people needed an entire month, but I don't know how long it takes other people to make scripts, or how hard these will be to make. They aren't going to be easy though, thats for sure.

I think I'm just going to keep the deadline for the 18th and then when it gets to the Friday before then I'll check in to see where people are at, and if they are really struggling to finish I'll push it to the 25th although I want to keep it the 18th if it doesn't hurt the competition.

Well, does it matter in this case? Plugins are allowed… WizzyPlugin is handy, but there comes a point when you need to make functions yourself.. And mine uses SCAR to: TPA := FindRocks. If you want to reach good speed, you must make the sorting functions yourself. Calling all those methods takes a lot of time, calling 1 method is way faster.

There aren't tuts about it.. Exporting is 'Fucking' easy.. Just read TestPlugin.dpr… Everyone can do it..

I never said you couldn't ask for help although I doubt anyone would want to post their stuff in the Help forums. Yes, so if you want you can help them, I'll help too if anyone has any questions, just make sure you don't make the script for them Sum.

@ n3ss3s - Well the idea behind this competition is to have the skills intertwined. Not choose which skill you want to do, and the script will do that, but it will train multiple skills without human intervention. So I guess if you wanted you could do something with a case after you made each procedure for each skill, and just make it repeat the case or something but its not on a choice basis. All skills must have "Flow" meaning the scripts can transition from one skill to another without help.

Hmm okay, this means we are not supposed to bank, ofcourse it will propably add more leetness points, but I dont have any special interest of walking from rimmington to fally to smelt just for that I could walk back to rimmy chopping wood :D

@ Jukka / n3ss3s - You don't get any bonus points for making a quest running script although it may be beneficial towards your Creativity Category and you may get some extra points in Intelligence depending on how you make the script. It would give you a better multiplier, but it will probably help your scores in other areas.

@ n3ss3s - Banking may not give you bonus points, but it will give you points in Intelligence most likely as well as technique. Although it all really depends on how well you do it and how you do it.

@ Smartz - Yea thats fine, It'll bring some attention to it, and make Community Members curious :D

@special-since ur competition is seperate from star's and since some of the rules are different, i think u might want to be more specific on the rules. All u say is copying, bribery, and espionage. but its not really copying if you have permission from the person(for functions and stuff) so if u want functions only made by the people in your group then…stuff like that. i can think of a few loop-holes, but one of them i want to use so :p

Well, I don't know plugins, either way. I meant coding in SCAR, and coding in Delphi. Don't try to be smart and say that SCAR is Delphi, because it isn't…otherwise we'd all know how to code in Delphi.

First of all, how can you already be asking for more time, you've still got over 2 weeks to complete the script. I was going to ask people next friday about how far they thought they where and if not many people where far I was going to extend the deadline until the 25 (the weekend after).

I'm sad to see everyone who's leaving go, I was hoping that there wouldn't be disagreements but I guess thats what happens when you put two people with different views on a team and expect them to work together, although I do not know the full story.

I'd say my chances of staying in the competition would be more likely if it was solo, yes. Having to rely on other people to create the script for me just isn't something I'm completely comfortable with (school projects are the same). I'm not really positive what type of scripts I enjoy making, other than scripts that haven't been made before or are new and unique. Sorry I can't give you more information, but I'm not completely sure what I enjoy making either since I haven't made to many scripts.

Yes, you can use Ben's Plugin although you'll most likely get less points in creativity. ;) But if you want to use it go for it.

If your team isn't online it doesn't mean you can't script, You can still work on functions and figure out problems / get ideas, just make sure everyone in your team is participating.

Do you think you're going to need another week then? As I said in an earlier post, I can extend the deadline one week if I don't have at least 2 Teams finished with their scripts. I'll do a check-up on all the teams on Sunday to see where they are with their scripts.

I hope you guys can find some time to get together and work on this. Even if your teammates aren't on you can always develop functions and get / test ideas for your script. Just make sure you other teammates still participate and making the script. I don't want to see 90% of the functions being make by you and then 10% split amongst the others, but if you make like 30-40% of it thats ok, because that is what I was expecting to happen in some groups.

*Worst can scenario just kick out the people who aren't doing anything and work on it with just the active people*

I don't know how others work but I usually do testing as I make things. I know you'd like to test your entire script, but depending on how many others need that extra week I may extend it giving you time to do that testing.

Hey I just wanted to check in with all the teams, see how they're doing and see if they need more time to finish their scripts.

There is a poll now so you can vote for more time. I think that max I'm going to extend it to is Dec 1st although I want to keep it closer than that if possible.

Because of the unanimous vote to extend the deadline two weeks the Deadline is now Dec 1st! I hope this will give teams the extra time they needed to finish testing and make sure everything fits together properly. Well, motivation could be the 500k prize money, or just the satisfaction of finishing the script, it's really a personal thing so I don't know how to motivate you. I think you can finish though, you guys are good scripters and know what your doing, so I believe that you can make it to the end!

Multi skilling is not really good money, but on the other hand.. Its anti-ban and eventually you will get money out of it.. When the levels are 55+ the mostly cause some money.. But making all in 1 script is quite hard…

EDIT: Thanks for the feedback as well Bob, but do you just not like the Score Multiplier idea, or do you just dislike the categories that I was grading on?

The score multipliers, I like just grading on what you have, and maybe have an "extra credit" category, but not a whole multiplier

I do have the extra credit category but should I just remove the score multipliers all together or should I change them so that they don't effect the final score as much?

I say just don't make them affect the final score as much
