Prove the obvious game.

Dark_Sniper

basically Someone asks a question that has an obvious answer…
And then someone has to prove it without a doubt that its true or not :p

this will seem more difficult than it seems.

Can anyone prove to me that 2+2 = 4 :p

Runescapian321

2007-10-21 21:12:25

Hmm…Lol confusing, would this be enough? - If you have two apples, and you take two more, you count them and you have 4! :D

Can anyone prove that the sun is hot?

Dark_Sniper

2007-10-21 21:22:34

but all apples are not equal… thus leaving them diffrent.

sun is hot because it warms the earth… and the sun is a ball of fire and fire causes burns… google fire and burns..

burns are caused by heat(or extreme cold) and if you get near the sun you will be burned to nothing.

Lacky

2007-10-21 21:26:59

You might get frozen to nothing…as you said, you can get burned by extreme cold…

Wow this is hard :p

Can anyone prove that RuneScape is gay? :p

Dark_Sniper

2007-10-21 21:43:00

i also said it was what heated the earth…

runescape is gay… thats way to postulational …

its gay because it was made by gay people.

if you created a ripple in water in a lake… does the water underneath the surface hold an effect ( a ripple , wave, vibration..) :p

Water ripple :

The part of the sun we see, photosphere, is about 5,800 degrees Kelvin.

Here's a link to answer the Is the sun hot question.

An explanation for why 2+2=4 HERE

Heres a couple of questions…
  • Can you cry under water?
  • How old are you before it can be said you died of old age?
  • If nobody buys a ticket to a movie do they still show it?
  • Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?
  • Do bubbles freeze in winter?
  • Do stairs go up or down?

~Stupedspam

Edit: To answer Dark_Sniper's question I think water and sound work in the same way. Sound moves in all directions from the point of origin, so water should follow the same effect unless it follows a two dimension path along the surface of the water.

Dark_Sniper

2007-10-21 22:40:21

* Can you cry under water?
depends what kind of water our we crying in?

* How old are you before it can be said you died of old age?
when you die of something else other than heart attack.. murdered… everything in your body shuts down naturally ?
* If nobody buys a ticket to a movie do they still show it?
this is easy… they do :p I had a friend that had to do that :p
they do not go into it and clean afterwards though :p
* Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?
because glue is activated by oxygen?
* Do bubbles freeze in winter?
are we talking about the air itself or the space?
* Do stairs go up or down?
depends on which escalator you are using XD!

still looking for a good reply on my water q…

if the water does travle in all directions how do you prove that water travles downward… and in what way would it :p

IronTeapot

2007-10-22 01:21:35

Yes, the water underneath does hold an effect. As the point of impact is on the surface it is only a visible effect. It would then have to be assumed that anything under the water would have no effects ever. This is not the case. In this example, the rock is still moving downward through the water. This rock displaces the water in an outwardly direction, therefore creating continual movement of the water until the rock stops moving. Without something moving to cause the ripples or waves, the active ones will increase their wavelength until it is so spread out that it is no longer visible and becomes settled under the force of gravity.

Another way to look at the 'unseen movements in water' is to look at how a wave is actually created, when the wind isn't taken into effect. The movement of the earths plates moves the waves, similar to how the rock moves the water as it falls through it. You cant see the waves being made and passing through the water until they break the surface. Bigger scale, same basic effect.

My Question : Can you hear sound in outerspace?

There are two distinct views on the meaning of the word time.

One view is that time is part of the fundamental structure of the universe, a dimension in which events occur in sequence, and time itself is something that can be measured. This is the realist's view, to which Sir Isaac Newton subscribed, and hence is sometimes referred to as Newtonian time.[1]

A contrasting view is that time is part of the fundamental human intellectual structure (together with space and number) within which we sequence events, quantify the duration of events and the intervals between them, and compare the motions of objects. In this second view, time does not refer to any kind of entity that "flows", that objects "move through", or that is a "container" for events. This view is in the tradition of Gottfried Leibniz[2] and Immanuel Kant,[3][4] in which time, rather than being an objective thing to be measured, is part of the measuring system used by humans.

In physics, time and space are considered fundamental quantities (i.e. they cannot be defined in terms of other quantities because other quantities – such as velocity, force, energy, etc – are already defined in terms of them). Thus the only definition possible is an operational one, in which time is defined by the process of measurement and by the units chosen.

Sound is air being moved around by forces. There is no air in outer space, which results in it having no sound.

Yes it does, because you don't have to be in the same area as the sound to be able to hear it, sound travels, and if the sound is loud enough or the hearing precise enough, you can hear a sound from anywhere :P

Question : If Dark_Sniper never started this game, is it very likely that someone else would have created it at the exact same time in another dimension? (time being realitive accross all dimensions)

I could prove there is no such thing as cold.

I could also prove that when the universe ends, Stephen Hawking's and Albert Einstein's brains will be the only thing left. I could also prove to those brains that relativity did not exist because of the lack of everything. Those two brains would produce an infinite amount of heat thinking about it, and expand infinitly. But how could they do this in a velovity free universe?

technically… its:

Students are often "mentally committed to the notion that a number can be represented in one and only one way by a decimal." Seeing two manifestly different decimals representing the same number appears to be a paradox, which is amplified by the appearance of the seemingly well-understood number 1.

Just wanted to clarify this, and prove what 99_ said.

Temperature is the measure of how fast the particles are moving in a specific area. Thus, I can correctly claim that space is much much higher in temperature than on the Earth, but because there are less particles in space, we don't feel the heat. That's how I learned it anyways.

I can prove what 99_ said because _____ in the other ______ was right about _______.
