So are we starting to build MSI's object.scar??

I remember when Bullzeye said he wants to make MSI obj finding, but didnt hear about that ever since, sooo should we make MSI_Object.scar?

Anyways, I made one general obj finder, but I dont wanna stuff the MSI with something that wouldnt be used anyways…

Soooo discuss…

I helped design MSI, and I can tell you that the functions thread will include some functions for object finding but there is no more include. We have spent a few hours talking about it and I think we have a nice design. thats why I held the mining competition in the first place, to spark competitions. They will now be held in MSI Competitions forum

Oh, so MSI isn't actually dead? I remember Special left for a while or something and it went blaa.

If you want another person, I'm game. Though I don't know how I would help…

Alright, sorry I've been working kind of behind the scenes on MSI for a while just trying to get everything organized but seeing as how people are still interested in it I'll tell you what I have so far.

First of all, MSI is not dead it was just sleeping :P but its awake now and we've got a new plan of action!

Well originally MSI stood for "Multi - Script Include" but I've decided than rather than having another include why not just help the original one and make that one better (SRL). So after talking to WT-Fakawi, pwnaz0r, some other people I think it would be best if MSI were to concentrate on making scripts that meet the following criteria.

  1. Train Multiple Skills
  2. Have Superior Performance
  3. Highly Intelligent

This is where the "New" meaning of MSI shows up.

So other than making scripts like that, I think that if MSI where to develop both high level functions like MakePotion(Potion: string); and very invloved functions such as Specific Object Finding or Complex information gathering like FindTree(TreeType: string); and IsPlayer(Action: string); *Action would be like "Chopping", "Fishing", "Cooking", ect* then MSI would both be a group who works together on individual things but overall we would all be working on SRL and, in a sense, would kind of be like SRL Devs.

I had another thread posted somewhere that was in more detail but after Fakawi changed ordering of the threads I think it got deleted. But for anyone who wants to partake in MSI you can, I'll post a list of things that people can work on in current projects soon so look for it.

P.S. Starting October 23rd (The Day I joined SRL) I will be holding a Team Scripting Competition where - in you need to make a multi - script, I'll release more details on the 23rd but start thinking about who you want in your team (2 - 4 people).

Ummm… Right now, I think someone is working on it, there is a random amount of phrases in the SvN but I don't know who's they are.

But if you'd like to start working on one or adapt one thats fine with me we're going to need to develop and MSI Responder eventually that "hopefully" can be used in all of MSI's Scripts.

King of Knives

2007-10-19 15:31:51

I want to participate :D I'm just not so much for competitions - I hate getting comparisons to another persons scripts. But I'll be willing to do it anyway, because I want to take part in MSI.

I want to be a part of something, instead of being a regular SRL Member, doing everything alone.

Hey you don't need to participate in the competition if you don't want to just promise me you'll at least read the post when I make it and see if you like the idea better then…

So, as far as scripting goes, I'll work on a few threads over the next half hour or so, 1 about ventrilo, 1 about the SvN, 1 about the Project, and I think I need an Introductory to MSI thread as well.

Well, now that we've established MSI's existence again… :p We can get back on topic, lol.

For Object Finding, I think we do need a general object finder but I think that if we make ones that are specific to what they are looking for I think that those would be a lot more accurate / precise / and would probably be a little bit easier to make because your just focusing on one thing.

[SIDENOTE] The 1st (New) MSI Project will start around the end of the Team Scripting Competition, so if anyone has any ideas for a Project post them in the suggestions category. [/SIDENOTE]

Specific

No shit xD

Hold on, 2 days ago I made umm:

Lesserdemon finder, varrock fountain finder, anvil finder, spinning wheel finder, monster finder xD

Hey about the FindTree(Tree: String) - not that it would be any problem to detect the type without the uptext, but are we using the uptext to detect?

EDIT: No shit, still a bit sleepy - why do I have to identify the trees if I'd just search for one kind of trees xD

EDIT EDIT: Finding trees in draynor beach is living hell, though I have this one which finds all the trees, works perfect in a forest etc, but it hasnt got idea about what trees it detects…

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Oh my god, edited it out it is my WCing competition function, sorry, cant publish yet xD

O.o I havent heard of this team scripting competition?

Special Ed

2007-10-20 14:16:43

@Smartz - Shush… lol

@Hermpie - I posted above its "most likely" going to be on the 23rd.

@Darky - As far as the Dev thing Dark I'm thinking its not really going to be split between people who do scripting and people who do functions they can really do whatever they want. Although I guess for organizational purposes I'll make two folders on the SvN "Developer's Functions" and "Scripts".

@N3ss3s - As far as telling whether or not the trees are different, all of the trees have a different appearance, "Willow", "Oak", "Normal Tree", "Dead Tree", and my goal was to develop it to not use uptext in the function itself but people could use that as a failsafe in their script if they wanted. If you got that general tree finder down, post it if you want, or add it to the SvN if you still have the info to it.

EDIT: The Competition Starts on the 23rd, and you will have 5 days to choose your teams, and after that I'll post your objective.

*Gives a look at Harry's SRL Stats* :p

Aww come on guys!

The MSI isnt to date SRL 4, I updated Setup.scar so it doesnt have {.include SRL/SRL/Misc/Amount.scar} since its in core now :)

Umm should we put global x and y to Setup.scar??

Meh anyways, if you guys dont mind Ill start building MSI's smithing.scar, Ill throw there my FindAnvil and I start working on the smithing part like "SelectToSmith(Item: String)" etc..

Special Ed

2007-10-20 14:45:02

Well as long as you know, MSI isn't an include any longer, each function in the SvN is going to have its one .scar file. So SelectToSmith.scar would be a file…

Hopefully the SRL Developers will be seeing whats going on with MSI and make some of the things we've made apart of SRL.

Either way though we're going to eventually have a Help File like SCAR / SRL, but ours is going to have the functions / procedures coding right in the help file with a helpful "Copy" button next to it, although I don't even know if thats possible.

n3ss3s

2007-10-20 14:49:36

Umm so the instructions to me:

"O-pen SCAR"

"co-de"
"be a ma-chi-ne"
"co-de mo-re"
"sa-ve to diff-e-rent fi-le-s"
"s-v-n - commit"
"co-de more"

etc :D :D :D

But why will every function have its own file, it'll be hella including?

Meh - "mu-st lis-ten to ed's orders"

xD

Do I make a furnace finder too? SRL one didnt work for me too good atleast last time I tried..

EDIT: Crap now Im confshizzled, can I just make functions and post them in a thread at MSI-Forums?

Special Ed

2007-10-20 14:55:26

Well Yea, you actually are supposed to post them in this section "MSI Scripts / Functions" although if you want people to help you work on them I'd suggest putting them in the SvN.

See the SvN isn't meant to just collaborate all the functions and procedures but its basically a workbench that lets everyone see whats going on, and if they want to work on it they can. The reason i say a different file for each function is to just keep it organized for people who only want to work on function "X" or Procedure "Y".

n3ss3s

2007-10-20 14:59:12

Okay I understand, but anyways I still would first code quadzr0xzillion functions before making the .scars xD

*looks at SRL's smithing.scar* no shit "FindColorTolerance" finds the damn furnace??? MSI uses that over my dead body

E:

Found it..

Special Ed

2007-10-20 15:05:57

Lol… Yea thats what we used to use and it worked decently well surprisingly, although it wasn't 100% accurate like we need them to be.

n3ss3s

2007-10-20 15:27:38

Well now you dont have to be afraid anymore, because n3ss3s brings MSI perfect furnace opener and time is average 40 milliseconds!

Team scripting? Does a guy simply whose other guys to script with?

@n3s: 'You on sugar?

@Special Ed: SvN, is that like a shared folder, where we just place all our work in? So when we update it, it will contain every procedure/function from MSI ?

EDIT: I can't get MSI-forums to work. My username is King of Knives, but I don't remember my pass, and when I try to log in with a pass (a guess), it shows me some screen where I can type in my email. So I did, and then I got a link to change my pass.
I went to that link, tried to make it something I could remember. I pressed "Accept", but it just gave me the message "User doesn't exist". Any help?

Sorry I hadn't been on the MSI forums for a bit, your account was awaiting approval and now your approved. The only reason its like that is to keep out non- SRL Members. And Yes the SvN is like that I'll make a short tut about that with my "Intro to MSI" thread (if I ever get around to making it, maybe i should just take the one from MSI?).

I've made an object finder too…it's quite fast to the human eye…but as for 100Ms or whatever n3ss3s has…I don't think so.

Would someone like to test it?

@ Special Ed: No probs :D I hope you didn't approve my other account (I made that because I thought I had fucked the other one up). If you did, just delete it. Its name was "Knives". And yea, the tut from MSI-forums will do, I believe.
