Because people like you want to rape and destroy RS, while we at SRL are trying to blend in with other players, and conserve the economy. Encouraging people to script and discouraging people to leech also ensures that we will have a larger variety of scripters for the future, and that RS will not be mistreated. If you read the very front page of the forums, it says :

This states that while we are cheating and 'breaking the rules', we are still maintaining our respect for ourselves, and our respect for RS.

Lol from the title I thought you were going to diss leaching.

i support lord saturn's statement, "'we are cheating and 'breaking the rules', we are still maintaining our respect for ourselves, and our respect for RS." the 7 day 10 post restraint, at least filters out the leachers who 1) lack patience … autoing itself requires time to do properly , 2) should first learn how to use a computer properly and 3) are rude, and have a lack of respect for people who are trying to teach.

And yes the point of a forum full of scripts it to let people use the scripts but it is also to educate people on the art of macroing. In life, its not always 'give me give give me'. You've got to give back to community, and only through the continual education can the RS cheating community survive. I've seen alot of old scripters that have given up rs cheating, but they have passed on their skills to the current scripters who can help everyone learn the art of macrooing.
Im a noob myself and only just got back to runescape the game itself (lol i play mainly text based games), but wouldn't it be cooler if you could participate in the intellectual challenge of overcoming the random events jagx throws at you? No doubt RS will die one day, but macroing skills apply to a whole lot of other mmorpgs and who knows if you're good at it, it can pave a way to a future career. (i.e. working for a game ironically trying to stop cheaters :P)

if you spill scripts, people will stop releasing scripts. not to mention you'd be unlikely able to obtain a good script again. So it is in the best interest for both sides for scripts (in which hard work was put in) not to be spilled.

a forum full of leachers imo is unsustainable, breeds ignorance and never progresses.

They also want people to contribute to the forum, which is only natural. If no one contributes, the forum falls apart and we wouldn't even be able to enjoy using these scripts in the first place. It's just a necessity.

Just to satisfy the curiosity, if you don't mind…what is this one simple function you wanted to auto? If it's simple enough, I'll help you out.

yes if you can't deal with waiting one week and posting 10 times ( wich is not much). then go home.

Well maybe it's to ensure that all the scripts are well-formed and that they work. I mean, if people are required to wait a whole week and post 10 times, they'll become more connected to the community which will generate help amongst the script writers. And if people help others with their scripts then the script is probably going to work.

So if you want the instant gratification of free scripts, just go elsewhere.

well, i would say the point of having a fourm full of scripts is to shair the scripts and knowledge of scripting. not for one person to make one then everyone else leach off him. most of the users on this site contribute there own scripts and i would say that most of them dont auto a LOT. its more of a challange to see what we can do.

thats just my thoughts.

How do you think these various scripts came to be? If everyone came here once, downloaded all the scripts and left there would be about 3 scripters, who would stop putting up their work since no one would comment them.

I run a community site myself. Nothing aggravates me and the other admins more than people who join and just lurk. Some people want something for nothing on the internet, and that's not the spirit that the web (particularly the Open Source Community) was made on.

I've been playing with SCAR for 2 days now and actually enjoying learning how to work it and make scripts (I see quite a few other applications for this as well). I can't imagine how some of the members here feel knowing they're giving away their hard work while other sites use these scripts to make money.

10 posts in 7 days is all you guys ask for becoming junior members? Jeez, I can make 10 quality posts in a forum in a day. :rolleyes:

When coding on something for several hours you do want some responce. It feels like CRAP when you see 50 downloads and 0 comments.

Well, after your first post…I was kind of curious to see what kind of contributions you would make to the community…..You started off pretty good by asking some questions…but it appears your last 5 posts were made back to back, lack any substantial merit and appear to just fill the gap to 10 posts…..very disappointing….I was hoping the outcome would be different.

Well, you basically said the same thing with two different sentences there.

Also it's not a big deal to me if I have to wait 7 days and post 10 times, not that difficult. Just deal with it, it helps the forum stay alive and isn't completely destroying the RS community. :)

It's actually a decent way to control the leacher community. The new restructuring is there for a purpose.

Lol the restructure isnt that different from the way it was before. They just added a new rank between registered user and SRL Member

I get what he is saying I got scar cause i found while screwin around but unfortunately it didnt have any scripts with it. Now I have to wait. I really just like to screw around but the grind is no fun (got to be 20th character keep forgettin passwords and names). I use to play warcaraft so i know th epain of the grind and gliders to make it so fun is actuallty possible rather than keep redoing stuff.

how ever a lot of valid points had been made, and i agree with the comments to do with the community and making some effort to participate.
7 days may seem like a long time but its long enough to browse and try making your own script rather than frittering at the PC trying to look for a decent script someone else has put LOADS of time and effort into.
Also you have a chance to get to know people and they may be the key to that very special 'tool' you were looking for. :duh:

oh and it helps to read through the forums rather than just look for that one script, you can find some pretty interesting stuff if you bother :)

Leeching in general is just bad. The hope is though, that maybe one day you will give back to the community. Think of it like Bit Torrent, you leech and then you seed, and if you don't seed you're gay :)

simple enough.
now lets say the fat shit has some friends who are also fat shits.
he invites those fat shits to eat more of the fat bakers cookies, and they do..
THEN - those fat shits invite more of their fat shit friends and so on.
Eventually the bakery is swarming with fat shits.
Now, the baker is overwhelmed and can't produce enough cookies for his fat shit friends who like to eat all his cookies and all his fat shit 'friends' are too lazy to bother helping him so they can all have a share of the cookies without hassle.
Eventually the fat baker dies, and then his fat shit friends die off because they have no cookies to eat. (see where i'm getting at?)

Seeder = Fat baker.
Leech = Fat shits.
Too many leeches = Very Very slow production and variety.
Loads of seeders = Opposite and everyone's happy.

Ok, I tell you why.
Most people here only script for fun! It may sound a bit strange to you, but scripting can be fun :)
But, everybody wants to have good scripts. The only way to get good scripts is to get feedback, like progress reports, bug reports or some other kind of constructive criticism.
Why we don't like leechers is this: Imagine you're a scripter. You made an awesome script. And then 200 people leech it, say: fuck you it does not work 100% and they leave. Would that be nice? Would you like such a thing? It doesn't help you making the script better, and you don't know who's using the script.
We can agree most/all scripters are against leeching for a few reasons.
1. It only helps the destroying of RS,
2. The script won't become better. You don't know what's wrong with the script, so you can't fix it.
There are a few other reasons, but I can't think of em ATM.

Also if we released all our scripts to the public, our positions would be overrun by leechers… i think we get priority.

EDIT: yes thats right, i use my own scripts. and i dont want the flesh crawler place to be even more crowded.

This cannot be said better.. SRL is NOT supposed to be a place, where you can click one button and you get all your stats 99, no! If you are so fuckin lame that you cant spare few days to learn these things, then I think that you should not be in here.

So, now, no the point of a forum full is not that you can just come, take one and walk away, thats stealing you know?

Scripters do not release scripts because they would enjoy other people getting yellow pixels, instead so that they could see how well did they succeed, and to get feedback so they can improve their code, skills and get more knowledge from comments of better scripters.

Do you even know how small price a week, 400 hits of KeyBoard is for a month, 32000 hits of keyboard?

You always need to pay, even if the price was to do a small arm movement to stab and rob a stranger.

Do you rather get pissed, make a really immature post just to embarrass yourself or wait exited for that week, and then get collecting scripts and get millions of gps?

Its easy to see through people like you, you wake up, go to school, get from school, open computer and google "RuneScape hack macro bot cheat", surf through tens, maybe even hundreds of websites to get something for totally free with nothing to even guarantee the quality, or nothing to guarantee its virus free.

I have a question for you, was all the time you spent to find something (if you did) more worth than a week you could've just chill out, not be a slave of google, and then get something that definetly works.

It is against the copyright laws, rules are to protect you from your own self.

Spreading a script without author's permission is the same thing as you would upload a song in a p2p net, you can be sued for that too.
