With the restructuring of the forums, has come an increased amount of SPAM…it is really not that hard…to take a week, and space out constructive posts in this time period, as opposed to making 10 SPAM posts back to back…To all of those that have done this or are considering it, Let this be my warning to you, to not waste any more of your own time or ours……If you want to learn to use SCAR/SRL and want to be part of this community…then you will need to take some initiative yourself and try to learn…You will find many people here that are willing to help you, but you first need to try and help yourself….

BTW, Here is a nice piece of hate Mail that was sent to me…Please, Keep them coming…It just lets me know, that my efforts to thwart Spammers and Leechers are not in Vain :)

Oh please, just because I posted 10 times 1 day within 1h and did not post them all threads is considered heavy spam? Wow, I wonder if I would done it 10 post 'same way' within week, it wouldn't be

Exactly, it was SPAM just the same…if you would have taken a week to make 10 constructive posts, it wouldn't have been noticed…the new system is designed to keep leechers, like yourself, from raping the scripts and abusing SCAR/SRL and RS…..It would have been just as easy to ban you…Either abide by the rules here…make positive contributions to the community…OR LEAVE !…That Simple !

I think good punishment for not using search button would be that next time they visit SRL, they would be auto-redirected to my How To Use Search Button tutorial, and they could not avoid that until their time spent in that thread from same IP would be > 20 minutes.

These leechers are annoying me to add random mumblings of IP banning in my posts. If only we could just have an auto leecher feature where is just bans them instantly if they use any 1337 speak or not typing there words out all the way in a post.

I know you guys are trying to crack down on spam, leechers, etc. I also don't wish for any infractions as I may one day become highly involved with this forum. Just a question though, do you take the time to read the posts that these 'spammers' have written? I made 7 constructive posts in about 3 hours of browsing, yet 2 still got deleted… :o

Teh_lulz: Actually your activity for the forum will all recorded in the historical stats if you don't believe it try click your user name and you find all the info about you and what have you post, this is where we will know whether your a leech or spammer.

metagen: i suggest you make a thread so that others can refer it on your first post. It would be nice to have as a reference to others.

I personally think that we are very biased towards newcomers. We can take alot that they say and consider it spamming. If you looked through my history and i was a newcomer ud have delted some of my posts too lol. I dont make any 1 word posts, but some things i say just carry on a conversation. I think we should go a little easier on newcomers.

I started posting on this forum and had about 13 posts and then this thing came into affect and im like wtf! I had just finished my first ever script and i was like i wanna post i wanna post!!!!!!!! And then BAM whered all the forums go?

So i made about 10 posts (not spam but reletively useless) so tht i could get 25 posts. Then it still wouldnt work so im like guhhh and an hour later it worked or something. I basically went to all of the useless threads and posted there (like how much have you made autoing?)

I think that these useless posts are pretty much all the newcomers can do… i mean i was pinned by it too. the forums are really limited and they dont have enough experience to really help other people yet. So what can they do?

The point of this is to keep leechers out afterall. A LEECHER in my opinion would just spam useless posts. I think everyone starts out a bit of a leecher. I downloaded like 10 scripts trying to find a working one and then i ran it for a bit. THEN i'm like i wanna be a member, so ive been working hard for that.

What makes me not a leecher, is that instead of trying to be a member for the pretty member scripts, i like you people :) i think its a great system thats going on here (once u break the noob wall). It's a fun community and tbh it passes computer science time (stupid VB).

I just thought it would be sensible of myself to post an apology for any spam i may have committed in the past few days - of course without knowing (Was very Noob of me) and would like to apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused such as reading over my 3 word responses and thought 'what a cock for wasting my time.'

@Metagen, it is the friendly atmosphere that attracted me here and keeps me here….the way people are willing to help new people out…keep everything open source and pass on their knowledge…I disagree, there is plenty a newb person can do to contribute to the community, without making useless posts….

I don't think anyone would care if somebody made 50 without-a-doubt constructive posts in an hour (though it'd take a genius and a really fast typer to do so :p). Basically nobody cares how many posts you have made unless they are spam.

Here's my definition of spam -

Irrelevant posts, one and two word posts (Like 'Thanks', 'works good', 'lol','doesn't work' etc), and/or double posting

Remember - Lots of posts /= spam (/= is does not equal)

Btw IMO 9 posts isn't 'A large amount' :p

No you would not be banned. You will get an infraction. Although if you already have 2 then you WILL be banned. And if those 10 posts were constructive and useful posts then you wouldn't. So just take your time on the forums read some tutorials and relax. Once you learn some more just start helping other members :).

am sick of seening new users posting COMPLETELY USELESS comments, so only srl member(/junior member) + can post comments, and if they wants to become junior members, they have to post ACTURAL useful stuff, and maby the post count requirements should also be increased, or atleast make the same applying thing as srl member for junior member..

But people out there have to think twice again spamming over here will not benefit your actual life so get yourself out of here before anything else as RS was not benefit for real world money. Scripts was construct based on single character will benefit unless you try to auto on your main. So again think twice…

I post quite alot within one hour, but it's not spam they are constructive and helpful comments / support.. If i were to post say 50 posts within one hour but ALL were constructive / helpful and appreciated would it be classed as spam? :S

IMHO you should change the '10 post limit and 1 week' to something random, as in don't tell them :) So they don't say 'kk i have to get 10 post ASAP'

You should make it like, random number between 15-30, and the waiting the week thing would be abolished.

Or make it so they have to post 10 decent proggies of at least 30 minutes, in order to help scripters :)

And if they have downloaded more than 50 sripts, but only posted one proggie, they get banned or soemthing :P D:

It would be to hard for a bunch of the mods to patrol the forums checking to see if people are posting proggies.

I joined SRL mainly because I want to learn something about programming and I won't be able to do so until I am a "True" member of SRL.

Also, since I don't know anything about programming AT THE MOMENT, I can't really do intellegent post regarding feedback.

Spamming has nothing to do with learning and neither does being a "true" member of SRL, once you understand the very basics (TUT Island?) the SRL Manual or SRL Wiki are great aids.

Yes it will cause spam, but in many cases people who are willing to browse the forums and learn SCAR in that 7 day waiting period will get AT LEAST 10 questions and in that case feel free to post them. Post in moderation, don't join and make your 10 posts within 10 minutes (your asking to have your psot count zeroed). Yes we have to expect spam and yes people will post spam (like 25% of my posts), but if you do need to spam, spam in moderation two spending 3 minutes everyday making two thought out posts will get you into the Jr. Member section just like making 10 posts in 10 minutes except you won't have your post count zeroed.

You shouldn't be proud of being guilty of being a spammer. This will get your account suspended and your post count reset. Yes, there will be spam but those people won't get access to scripts so the 10 post requirement is still serving its purpose.

in my mind, leechers are people who just get scripts, don't give proggies, and don't script.

Yes. You need AT LEAST 10 NON-SPAM!!!!! POSTS. If they contain spam you'll be reset to 0.
