You will be fine running a VM. Just do like 256 mb of ram or 512 if you want.

I have a 733Mhz processer and 256 mb and my computer.
I run 128mb ram on my VM and when it actually has enough memory to start, I can auto with it, Only problem is that It can cut a load of Oaks in half an hour.
Very laggy :P

I have exact same specs as you mat.
And i just stared autoing abut 4 days ago after a long time and i can runa VM perfectly.
I am curretly VMing, Converting a Movie, and on my Main account with no lag.
I do keep my computer very clean and stop all off the crap processes that run in the back of my computer.
But yea, you comp specs are fine for a VM, you will be able to VM and do other things like play on your main, or whatever else you do w/o any/much lag at all =).
