Still alive, still kickin'

Still around, enjoying botting both games on the side ever since leagues ended, which was a lot of fun. Hope everyone has been doing well :)

Quit RS/OSRS a while ago. Ended up actually enjoying OSRS legit for a while, just that the grind was too intense for me so I ended up botting till I got a 2day ban then quit.

Ended up putting together some scripts in AutoIt and AHK for SWTOR and GW2 to do stuff I didn't want to do manually :P. I actually ended up making a quick spiritbonding script in FF14 for the couple months I tried it out as well. Those games were far more lax on the bot busting, it's basically legal there (as in illegal but not enforced almost at all)

Kinda sucks that most MMOs just kinda suck so I don't really hang around forums like this one much anymore since there's nothing really to cheat at :P. I mostly play League of Legends nowadays if I need an 'MMO' like experience

well, well, you have grown up quite a bit since I last was here. Has it been 16 years? I am still around, albeit 16 years older now. And I was already the oldest when I started all this.
Still botting RS3 on small scripts though. Had to iron out some RS3 related problems in SRL, but it has been working fine for my private little setup :) My member account is fully maxed nowadays.

Hope you have found what you where looking for in this forum. I know a lot of you found good spirit and inspiration that guided you through your professional life.
I don't pop up on the forum as frequent like I'd used to do. Hope everything works as it should here, though I understand it is pretty much….dead?

Seeing you post here gave me such a massive smile.

I was around 13 when I came here, learnt some absolutely rudimentary coding skills and spawned a love for automation which would influence my professional career over 16 years later.

When COVID hit we went into lockdown and I decided I'd dust off my coding skills and made a project to pass the time and to try and learn how to automate OSRS using plugins for a Runelite alternative client (OPRS). After months of utter confusion things slowly started to come together and I finally put together a power-skiller.
Still remembering my time at SRL and the values instilled here of being educational and helpful I decided I'd release what I did as open-source with an aim to foster the same ideals that were held here and provide a platform to help others learn so that they may learn some skills they could take into other areas of life as SRL did for me.

Fast forward 1.5 years and I haven't stopped working on this project, my community is now over 3000 strong and the largest automation community for this client we are using. We have 36 "Contributors" (equivalent of SRL member) who are people that have released 2 open-source automation plugins to the community, we even have 1 of our SRL admins as part of it! Personally I've built a fully fledged automation API including mouseless object interaction, web walking and all the other bits and pieces you'd expect for what I feel is a very easy to use API.

I really wanted to post here as whilst I was never anyone of note here, this place had a rather large impact on my life in many different ways. There was no other community that encouraged learning, open-source contributions and positivity like this community. This project that it has spawned for me I never expected or set out to happen to this scale, but it has been the greatest joy throughout what has otherwise been a tumultuous 24 months for me.

Anyway that was a bit of a ramble, good to see others still checking in from time to time and hope you're all keeping safe <3

Your community is amazing! I've learnt so much from all the open source plugins you've released and the community too!

The utilities you've made public (and open source!) is mind blowing, thank you for creating the 'library' and making it so easy to work with!

It's actually crazy and awesome to hear how SRL changed many people's lives in similar ways. I feel like a lot of people found SRL in their youth, initially for RS-related reasons, maybe wanted to leech a script, but eventually realized there was a lot more to learn beyond cheating at some random MMO game. The whole SRL vibe, especially with the application process, somehow motivated me more than a college CS class ever did.

@WT-Fakawi; I can't thank you enough, I never thought I'd ever be a "coder" - now a decade later, I still value this place as one of the most important, formative communities of my lifetime.

Didn't even realize it's been nearly 12y since I first joined the community as a annoying high schooler!
Going back over my previous posts definitely brought over some giggles. It's funny how at one point the most important thing in your life is your reputation on some random forum, and then you don't even think about it.

I've said it before, but SRL was so incredibly formative for me because it really taught me the importance of those with knowledge helping those that are learning. I like to think that I take that philosophy to my job with my interns.

Back and still here! No longer using Simba/SRL but still playing OSRS legit :)

Finally decided to reset my password after 2 years lol. Nice to see some folks are still around. I occasional use some of my old code to play the game, but mostly legit now.
