Hello Everyone,
I always get a message stating the SCAR is a virus, and it's really starting to get annoying, not only for me because i have to put up with that whenever I use it, but people who start out (everyone has to be a noob sometime in their life) using SCAR will think it's a virus and run away from it, and that isn't what we want. We want more people contributing to SCAR and SRL, so make it better.

well it must be just u, coz i have AVG and i dont get that error, anyways it aint that big a problem, all u have to do is just ignore it.

I've had the same stuff.
I just recently got rid of AVG cause it kept moving pieces of SCAR into the vault.
Before I got rid of it I checked the vault cause it said it had 40 files. 34/40 files where SCAR related. So that was the last straw and i got rid of it. Now im using Webroot Spysweeper + antivirus. No problems yet (used by FBI and US Government)

Yea so I figured out why all my SCAR versions weren't working. lol


My advice: GET RID OF AVG!@!@!$#@$!

must stay with AVG :p the virus only happened for me with srl 2.03

I have never, ever gotten a virus.

BTW I have a mac to, never gotten a virus with that either :P

Norton is the most gay firewall ever, if you are smart you will never get it and uninstall it if you can, if you can't then you deal with it like me :(

Yea Norton slows down your computer and it sucks. Get WeBroot. Work awsome!

Norton anti owns I have been using it for 3+ years, very happy with it

whenever i download SCAR from freddy1990.com, i never get those annoying messages.. but, when i download it from another place (dylock.net for example) i get them all the time, so, i recommend that you get it from freddy1990.com and you wont get them at all :)

i think its AVG, when i first got SCAR or SRL it didnt tell me either was a virus o.O

hahaha, i was just reading down the page and saw people saying "nortan FTW" i was just about to say exactly the same thing.
seriously people, if you ever go somewhere on the internet which is unsafe or you get sent or some into contact with virus/malware i can assure you from personal experience that nortan does nothing, SOMETIMES it will inform you that you have a virus/trojan/malware but it has NEVER been able to handle the problem for me. kaspersky IS the best antivirus saved me so many times when sifting through warez links

heh common this topic was about avg and how it gave detections on scar…

well the is a runescape client in Scar and thats what causes the error…

I never seem to get this.. what version of AVG do you have.

I had AVG 7. something… But i got rid of it cause after awhile it kept auto sending all the exe files from scar.. So i couldnt even run scar itself

Yeah, I've never gotten anything from AVG about SCAR being a virus…

Well, it only seems to be happening with SCAR 3.06. It did a couple times with 3.10, but it doesn't seem to be doing that anymore.

Aside from that, it still annoys me when people sign up to these forums to tell everyone that SCAR is a virus just because AVG said so. It isn't bad, like maybe people say that probably once a month or so, but if it gets out of hand, someone should make a sticky saying scar isn't a virus and explaining why it isn't. Not this thread, not by a long shot, but hopefully you know what I mean.

I don't really think we need this thread anymore, since the newer SCARs (3.11, 3.12) don't seem to do anything with AVG, so we're good with that.
