Hmm release to public.
Completeley out of the question.
Releasing smart= another Aryan (almost)
Smart will be

The level of privacy it has now is perfect, 20ish or less people.
If we let all SRL members have it, it will DEFINITELY get leaked too.

I say no for two reasons:
-Not ready for it; SCAR needs to fully support SMART before any releases; By fully, I mean 100% 'Drag & Drop'.
-Abuse
Dark_Sniper

It may be abused but…. how?
you cant run more than one at a time right?(or was that changed)
all it does is give the user access to his computer while scar autos…
…. they can auto longer yes … but isnt that what we are working for?
if they auto 24/7 they will get the results yes :p (duh ban)
but on the other hand there would be so much : "how the fuck do you use this" "this shit dont work" "this is retarded" "this is detectable!" … i mean so much complaining…
i can garuntee that… even if they are SRL members.
look at SSRL we complained a little bit like that mostly "this shit dont work".. but atleast we post what are problems are.
if we do not give it to public we would look selfish (who cares).
If we do release it we will get leaks + 1000x more apps and members a day.
im not voting yet :p is there a set date on the pole?
also
is it fair not to release to members?
not really, they may quit early with scar and leave us because they dont feel welcomed enough or that they will ever be good enough to get it.
is it fair to release to members?
it would not be fair to the SSRL members who have been here and actually learned something and exceeded expectations.
so what do we want? the fire or the flame?

What makes you guys think this will be abused?
You can't even run 2 smarts at the same time, try it.
Smart's heavier for your comp than normal RS with SCAR, try it.
SRL Members only, No, this is a beatiful thing made by Benland, nicely integrated in SCAR and should definately be availabe for the public.
I do agree with Smartzkid though, we should make sure it is 100% integrated in SCAR before releasing.
So, not with initial release of SRL 4, but after some time, to the public.
EDIT: 100% integrated as in, a fully working plugin.

you can run 2 at the same time, I tried it out about an hour ago and it worked fine, just it lagged so much that it wasn't worth it, cause it went so slow and often the chars lagged out. but my computer isnt really high-end, so maybe someone with a really really good comp might be able to do it, but I cant see them running more than 2. I voted no because I have had a lot of trouble running it minimized (radial walking..) but in the new version that seems to be fixed.
the only thing that could be done now is probably getting all the chars right, like enter and shift and stuff, everything else seems to be running wonderfully.

You cannot apply for SSRL, it's mainly for discussions, fun and testing stuff that cannot be release to the public because of it's BETA stages.
The Claw
2007-09-22 09:37:49
I mean, hype it up a bit, make it known that it now works near perfect, to get them excited a bit about it. Cause if I was going to be working towards something, I wouldnt really care about a half finished, very buggy program that doesnt really work - which is what everyone was saying when the secret got out

I disagree.
I see SSRL as the elite of the community; the best scripters; the true SRL Members; the people who actually put in effort and deserve something in return.
I think their hard work should be rewarded with something only they have access to. It makes it special.

Well, it should be Members at least and in my opinion even Juniors. Why?
- Secrecy. You cant keep this a secret! You may try, but you will end up with a lot of people freaking out. You all know what I am talking about. Took a lot of energy to get that straight.
- Abuse. S.M.A.R.T. is not such a big deal compared to any other bot. It like having SCAR 's silent mouse back, if Freddy made a silent mouse to SCAR, nobody would complain. You can't possibly run more then one and thats a good limitation.
- Image. It will be a very nice gesture from this community to the audience. It will be welcomed with a lot of enthousiasm. It will be good for SCAR, and thus good for us. Finally a major scoop for us thanks to Ben!
But, as I said I think Ben should have the final word on this, but my advice would be: Juniors.

SRL Members aren't supposed to know about SSRL.
If we release this, what really separates SSRL from SRL? The odd script…? Whats the point in having SSRL then?
The point of SSRL to have a closer, more trustworthy community to operate from.
Also for fun, and serious projects, but not to keep projects from it's final stages, like becoming public.
I'm not bothered how much this could be "abused", i just think we should give SRL Members something to work towards, so they (and we) feel like they truly deserve the bot when they get it.

I'm not saying keep it secret, I'm saying keep it private. I don't mind how many people know about it, I just think it should be a reward and privilege to use instead of a given which is only leeched again and no feedback is given… again.
As i said before, I'm not worried about abuse, I know you can't run more than 1 (possibly 2) from what i have heard.
The release of SRL 4 isn't a good enough gesture to the community from us? As i said before we don't have to give out absolutely everything.
Its Java based (I think looking at an old source)… Won't that cause an uproar with … *certain* … people???
Not all Registered Users and SRL Junior Members know how to edit their scripts and SRL to have Smart work correctly. I'm against releasing it because this is really the lowest usergroup I know of that is leak-free. Releasing it to anything below SRL Members would be alot of work in step-by-step guides and answering complaints.

It should either stay here or be released to everyone. What I see is that if people can't get Scar to work correctly or can't extract the SRL correctly, how the hell are they going to add 5 lines of code to their script and then edit TypeSend. It will just lead to more complaints and a bad atmousephere. On the other hand, people will come from other communities back to Scar because they can do more with it. It gives them another path of scripting with more opportunities. I don't have a great opinion of the general population so my opinion may look at 'the glass is half empty' side of things. If you think you can keep it so the good outwieghs the bad and answer the majority of the complaints then there shouldn't be a problem.
I totally disagree with an auth system being put in. Either it should be released where everyone gets it or it should not be released at all. If everyone has access to it then there is nowhere for it to be leaked.

I agree with start completely.
The poll is clear black and white. 76.9% DO NOT want this to be public. I wouldn't call us greedy as none of us use SMART 'hardcore' yet. I just fletch now and then, and the minimized doesn't work completely yet also. Releasing this will just screw up autoing.
Most kids auto only at night because they use their computers.
Others cant even auto at night because their parents, so they auto for a few hours in the day.
Releasing this will enable ALL of the 1K+ people who auto do it as long as their computer is on. And this will just add onto the 'Chinese' autoers and create more chaos, and this will be in more than just cutting yews.
Releasing this will also terminate the point of SSRL and giving SRL Members something to work towards SSRL will be a rank with no benefits.
Its cool that this is a huge breakthrough and will be cool for all people to know about and they do. Starblaster posted a sticky about SMART and its powers, and many SRL members are working to obtain it. Its obbvious that in interest in scripting is dying fast, and we are getting way too many leechers and not enough scripters. By having smart private, but telling everyone about it, it gives all people a WONDERFUL prize to motivate them to script and excel further than just FindObj and simple clicks.
I think SMART is the only motivation left, and by displaying it out of their reach (not as greedy people but to show what good scripting can get you) is a good thing to do. If we just release SMART, so many people will just stop scripting or not care as much, as they already can auto minimized with it.
Overall, i am EXTREMELY against this and believe SMART is fine where it is, releasing will just cause harm to SRL, Runescape, and enthusiasm to script overall. The people of SSRL have already spoken though the poll results, so please consider it. I say to keep it private, not out of GREED, but out of COMPASSION for the sake of Runescape and SRL Scripting Community.

Think about it this way, what if we took a poll about you releasing your [insert script here] free? Would that affect your decision to make it a pay script or not? In reality, if I was so inclined to post the source to it in the General section, I could. I believe that Fakawi was just curious about what you all thought, not that he was going to act based on what you thought, especially since it would be my decision in the end anyhow.
Furthermore, almost everyone starts out as a leacher. Why make it hard for them to get things and turn them away when they could have possibly contributed later to the community?

How about neither? Plus, the nature of SMART is not to be easily embedded into anything. You'ed have to rewrite at least some of it in delphi to get the resources right, and to do that, you'd need a working jni in delphi… I'm not against it being in the Scar distribution, or in the SRL distribution, but it should not pe a 'part' of scar. Yes ram, smartmouse just made you be able to atuo and use your mouse also, but the RS screen HAD TO BE VISIBLE, so it wasn't used too much unless you high a very high screen resolution/dual monitors. IMO it will totally ruin autoing if released to masses (i dont auto much, but i remember the arayn days, and i know you auto lots RAM :p, i dont think yourd like having to fights 20 people for one ore =) )

i dont think that we should give this convenience to pople who dont work for it, or desever it.
im not saying it should be a goal, it just shouldnt be given out.
we get plaenty of leachers and all without making it this easy, let them be, this wont help much.
I guess I should point out that the only reason anyone lower than the few people that I share stuff with even knows about SMART is because I decided to slowly release it out of the goodness of my heart ;) Going off of your logic it seems that SRL Members should have to earn the right to use the anti randoms as they are created, which of course is not the case, as almost anyone can use the SRL anti randoms if I'm not mistaken. To be honest, I'd be willing to bet money that the Boxbreaker alone allows more autoing which otherwise wouldn't happen than SMART would if its released.

Antirandoms and BoxBreaker and NECESSITIES to autoing, its nice that people give them free, but we pretty much NEED them to auto for elongated periods. SMART is a benefit and is not NEEDED to auto, its an extra which should be hoarded to ourselves like the greedy monkey maggots we are!

Again, you guys forget we at SRL have
NO real impact on RS cheating, not even when you can run 3 (wow!? lol) SMARTs.
My scripts eat CPU, so I can not run more than 1 actually, maybe with a good (low CPU) WC'er you can run 3, max..
Aryan was at least 7.
Aryan had alot of mining, which is as stated as above (for scar) a CPU eating process.

Here is what i think :
It is ENTIRELY Bens creation thus it is ENTIRELY Bens decision. In my opinion we have absolutely no right to 'want' something to be done with SMART. If Ben wants it he can, no questions asked…
At Ben : Go ahead and do what you want to. I'm fine with anything you decide.

You could auto without them, you only perceive them as being necessities because you are used to them. Take DTM and DDTM for example. Essentially, you could auto without them, but no one is going to say that they don't make things a hell of a lot easier. Also, no one is going to suggest that DTM's be something that must be earned.

The people who use SCAR are limited, just look at the srl-stats.
A month/week of RS Demon can produce the same amount of ess, I'm sure of that.
SCAR scripts don't run for ever, SCAR scripts don't ruin RS Cheating, SCAR + SRL Scripts are undetectable, a good script will not even be noticed by the average player.
This is a big difference, as long as the legit's don't notice it, it doesn't matter. ;)

That's the problem.
We're mature enough to respect jagex, other players, and our armies. We level our bots, use good names, etc.
Leechers come here, see srl - 'undetectable'; 'OMG YAY'; then run scripts with few players, low levels, and for long amounts of time.
SMART would just multiply the problem.
Oh, and we'd get a veritable flood of new leechers.

After talking to nielsie my view on releasing it further than here has been pushed even further towards no. I mean, he can run 5 easily..prolly a max of 9 or 10, if he killed all the other processes running. This definately could be aryan all over again, very easily.
The only reason that my scripts are in free section atm is because of the limitations of SCAR, if smart was released to members i would have all my scripts moved to SSRL, cause hey I dont want irresponsible people raping rs with them, which WOULD happen. my lumby miner, gets about 1k coal in 8 hours on LVL 50 miners. imagine that on level 65 miners…running 5 at the same time. you could say thats 5k coal, in about 6 hours. which is way too much for the economy to handle…20k coal a day, not to mention wizzups VEM, tara's scripts, cows would get raped too, along with some other scripts.
my point is, we have seen that this can easily be aryan all over again and i wouldnt trust anyone in srl members or free section with the responsibility of not raping rs.

I'm not sure, I got a few Ricks(check my stats, that's from an hour of running them) and a frog(didn't solve) but they seemed to respond pretty well. Like I said, there was hardly any lag, I've had worse lag running only 1 RS on my 512mb machine.
