Leaving

I'm not exactly leaving, but I'm going on to java programming. I decided that SCAR has very little left to teach me (other then technique, which is learned through experience, comes from almost any programming language, and can be applied to almost any programming language). Because of this, I'll be visiting here far less than I have been.
*deletes long post in favor of a shorter one*
I guess I won't be talking to you guys as much anymore, so bye, and good luck; may we meet again someday.

Awww.. Smartz can you give me the info for the MSI server then so edit / change things. I'm sad to see you leave, hopefully we can keep in touch, and you could possibly teach me some more java when you get good. :D

Thanks all :)
Dark, you should try out java, it's pretty amazing.
Special, don't worry, I'll try to keep up to date with MSI; if I get time later, I'll see if I can finish up findtree for you; right now it's pretty messy.
Hobbit, I won't, promise! ;)
Thanks Bam Bam, I will.
Ruroken, Don't know why, but the flies just made me laugh. :p
C0de, bye, and good luck with your gfx.
PS: You really should try out maya! :)

I disagree. There is always more to learn.
Have you made an unbelievable, flawless, most desirable script? You know SCAR like the back of your hand? You can tell me what absolutely every procedure / function / const / var / type is used for?
I doubt it
Even so… goodbye and take care

No, but getting to know a language like that takes a lot of time. Time that could be spent learning a practical language. For me, it's just not worth it; not now at least.
I'm not really sure where I'll go…Jason2gs and I are searching around for somewhere, though…until then, I'll probably be somewhat active here.

java should not be to hard for me to learn.

Hey if you find a good forum or something hook me up, I'm always looking for something new to learn, and I think Java was going to be my next choice anyways. I'm still going to stay here but I'm good at multi - tasking, and seeing as how RS is Java based learning Java may give me good ideas as far as SCAR scripting goes.

im still debating on wether or not i should lern php first or java first :p

Hmmm… actually I think you should learn PHP first, but if me, you, and Smartz are all learning Java together then we can help each other out as problems arise, but I would be fine learning PHP too.

Welcome to the dark side :stirthepot: :sasmokin:
But like yakman said, just because you are mainly programming java doesn't mean you have to give up SCAR. You can talk between the two and actually write some pretty sweet programs with a Java <-> SCAR interaction.
Whatever you decide to do, good luck. ;)

I just found out that I'm obligated to work with Dark Sniper on a team script at MSI :p
I decided to stay partially active here, find an intelligent java community, and still do some SCAR scripting; just not as much.
Thanks Mopar :)
PS: SpEd, I gotta talk to you; just had a great idea!

I learn from the source of all knowledge: Benland100@gmail.com
Talked to him for more than an hour today; probably learned more in that hour than I have all year long :p

When you do finally find the scar god, tell me. I'd like to meet him/her.

Exactly, so would I. I'm just saying it was foolish to say 'SCAR can teach me no more.' You can
always learn more, its only your own ignorance and laziness which stops you.

Not true, SCAR has it's limits.

Not true, SCAR has it's limits.
There is a limit on its processing abilities and its speed.
There is no limit on what it can teach you; there is no limit on knowledge.

There is a limit of what knowledge you can use in SCAR.

woot :P
There is a limit to scar.
Basically scar limits you to colors/images and mouse functions.
There is some things you can do like play music, make poor games, make poor movies, make/del/edit files…and so on.
As far as I can see Ben is pushing scar limits.

There's plenty of things in java, such as OOP, threading, and sockets, that aren't in SCAR. These are the things I hope to learn over the next couple months. Knowing how to correctly use advanced programming will help me in both the short term and the long term.
Every programming language has its limits. Some, like assembly, are nearly unlimited. Others, like BASIC or SCAR are far more limited. All high level languages are limited mainly by the quantity and skill of its developers. I'm sure Freddy is very skilled, but, no matter what, he's still only one person.
I will try to stay active here as I delve into java, but with a lot of spanish and chemistry homework (memorization based subjects) coming towards me in the near future, I doubt I'll have much spare time.
